Overly Sensitive People

Humor for a minute, you’re in banking, right? For how long and in what capacity?
Yes. Been doing it for about 10 years. I've worked in the trust department and now I work in the risk department. Going to have to give you a like for the Bush gif.

Ok, so that’s not gonna work for my analogy.

Can you at least consider that my having waiting on so many different types of people over the years has given me an informal database to their eating habits?

It was the same when I was a lender. More times than not, I could gauge if a person had good or bad credit based on a few things. Sometimes I was surprised, but not often.

FWIW it was basically one guy that tweeted about the cereal box.

There are now hundreds if not thousands of snowflakes tweeting about how offended they are that he was offended. #triggered

I tried to make this point earlier. The guy wasn’t going on cnn and bashing Kellogg’s. He made a tweet and Kellogg’s responded. He was also quick to thank them for their quick response.

I'm sure it has for certain types of people. Things that you can tell just by looking at them, such as what do women order a lot or what do white people order a lot. Those are physical characteristics. We are talking about personality.

Can you spot a redneck after talking with them a few minutes?

Really? So someone who grew up in Wayne county and still lives there can’t spot a redneck?
I can spot one, but no one can spot one just by talking to someone for a few minutes unless you are asking them if they are a redneck. Also, FYI Atlanta isn't in Wayne county.

Methinks you are being purposefully obtuse.

I grew up in the country on a farm and went to school in a one stop light town. I have no problem picking out an actual redneck. .

Show me the post where I said someone could do it in a few minutes. The fact that you think you can judge someone's personality based on a few minutes of conversation is laughable.

You said you would have no problem picking one out. And I’d agree with that sentiment. Coincidentally, I would have no problem picking out a red neck as well.

The fact you want to die on this hill is amusing. Most any of us that grew up in the South can easily identify a redneck. It’s not hard.

For the last time, ordering a steak over cooked doesn’t make one a redneck. That said, the overwhelming majority of rednecks eat their meat over cooked. I grew up in the south and also waited/bartended for 8 years. I have a good set of data to work with.

No child is going to look at the box and discern "OMG, they are racists.... TOWARDS BROWN CORN POPS!" It's ridiculous.

Exactly. Kids aren't offended and don't think things are racist until you tell them they should offended and think it's racist. The sooner we can stop manufacturing racism, the sooner it will finally be gone from society. But the cynical side of me thinks that people want there to continue to be racism, so they hop up on their soapboxes whenever they can to call out racism and thus keep it alive.

But it was in poor taste to have the only menial job held by a person of color.

Not only was in the only menial job in the picture, but it was the only job in the picture. Every other pop is goofing around not working. The funny thing is that if all the other pops were brown, and the "janitor pop" was white, people would find a way to be offended and say "look! the only pop actually working in that picture is white while all the brown ones screw around... racists!!!"

Lol , that’s it? Being able to admit you were wrong and adapt your views is a sign of intelligence.

You’re gonna stick with a). You couldn’t tell if someone was a red neck after speaking with them for a few minutes? And b). Most rednecks prefer their steak rare, despite having no evidence to support the claim?

Sigh

The fact you can only come back with insults and never actually debate any of my points speaks volumes.

Make an actual point and I'll address it accordingly.

Agreed, but I'm not going to call you stupid just because you don't know how to do that.

Yes, because judging someone off of three or four minutes of conversation can't be done. If you think it can, then I can't help you.

You have shown no evidence either so what's your point?

I absolutely can determine if someone is a redneck very quickly. How long do you need? 10 minutes? An hour? A couple months?

Maybe I’m better at reading people than you are. I have to consider that. My job has always been sales oriented. Waiting tables. Tending bar. Loan officer in retail, business and mortgage. Director of sales for my firm now. It’s incumbent on me to read and understand people quickly.

Aren’t you Green County? Or Nash? I thought you posted it once
I'm from Cobb County, Ga. lol.

But my dad went to high school in Sampson County and all of his side of the family live there and Duplin County (but our family line hails from Richmond County).

I'm not gonna tell other peoples' business, but there are a couple other OOTB regulars who are.... pretty close.... to the city I bolded above lol.

How is that any different than someone pointing out the poor judgement of a cereal cartoon?

Because it wasn't poor judgement. It was a drawing of corn pops.

I have no problem with the guy calling it out. My issues are more with him implying that it's teaching our kids racism (ludicrous), and with Kelloggs thinking (probably rightfully so) that they needed to change it so no one would be offended.

I know who one of them is, actually.

Question for you about the red neck talk. How quickly can you identify if someone is a redneck? I don’t mean it as a bad thing. I’ve got lots of redneck family and friends.

If it wasn’t done in poor judgement, Kellogg’s wouldn’t have removed it.

Whatever you said before, but quicker by one minute

But really it just depends on how overt they are and it depends on the setting. If we're somewhere where it's on full display (outdoor festival/concert, tailgate, race, bar, etc.) it's gonna be easier to quickly recognize than if you just strike up a convo with a dude at an airport.
