Players taking a knee during The Song

The protest went from a few players displaying their unhappiness over race relations to almost the entire NFL organization taking a stand for the 1st amendment rights of everyone. The players are being very patriotic. Trump has actually succeeded in creating a solidarity in opposition to his remarks. Well done, Don!

The thing that pisses so many people off though is that nobody stands up for the first amendment rights of peopls who support Trump. And a lot of those people are NFL core supporters too

I love it when he speaks and demonstrates his 1st Amendment right. That speech he gave in Huntsville was immeasurably valuable. Look at the solidarity that created? Of course, it was in complete reverse to what he wanted, but, so what. I certainly do NOT want his right, or his supporter's right(s), to be diminished. I wouldn't censor a single soul.

They're not all his type.
I was using him as an example.

I remember not too long ago how people were predicting that Kaepernick's actions would soon be forgotten and wouldn't amount to anything. They must have been using Hitler's crystal ball to predict the outcome of WWII.

Somebody please explain to me why trump keeps having these "rallies"? You won dude, don't you have more important things to do than go around telling everybody how great you are? Get your ass back to DC and get some shit done!
I loved that speech! I'd rather he stay preoccupied giving speeches like that to his immovable base than be in Washington where he's more harm than good! In DC, he's like a kid playing with matches. Speeches to low IQ supporters in Alabama, telling them that he'd fire NFL players, is safer for everyone!

I think it's a ridiculous gesture, but couldn't care less. Those who do it don't give a crap what I think. Together we are content.

I disagree. I saw more NFL players, owners, even LEO and military people joining one another.
Where did you see this? Most NFL players don't kneel. Law enforcement has pretty much unanimously come out against this protest. The military does not comment officially on social matters.

I also saw more fans booing. It's divisive. The fact we are having this conversation proves that.
I'm seeing more and more people following his lead. I think we saw more people this Sunday than ever before.
Personally insulting people just because they support a politician.
Having a low IQ is not an insult. Their votes count just as much and their fervent support is unwavering. They keep showing-up to his rallies like it's the summer of 2016. Knock yourself out. His comments helped to rally a lot of the NFL Solidarity (or division, if you wanna see it that way) this Sunday.

Race relations? The only discontent I've seen is coming from those that suck at life towards those that provide the welfare. Seems those that suck at life want more to sit on their asses all day long, aside from the occasional protest. I don't see strained race relations so much as 'do nothings' vs 'providers'. Those 'do nothings' are not a homogeneous race, but broadly represented by many.

The problem is all they are doing is taking a knee. They're not helping solve the problem. I also saw more people booing than ever before.

You are probably the only person on the planet who thinks that saying that is not an insult.

They're not helping solve the problem.
I doubt this is a problem that will be solved by standing or kneeling. But, it is getting closer as long as any kind of attention is being called to it. You may not think it is being solved. I may not think it is. But, THEY do, so they continue to do what they're doing.

You are probably the only person on the planet who thinks that saying that is not an insult.
That sure as hell wouldn't be a first.

I'm sure the brightest and most intelligent love to show-up endlessly to these rallies even though the election has been over for 10 months or more. There are low-IQ's on both sides and the politicians appeal to the lowest common denominator. Eventually, all Trump have, after this is all over, are those people. All of the Hollywood celebrities and sports icons that he loved to hobnob with and have at his parties and functions wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire. But, those low IQ's, who have their fears played and exploited, will never leave him. It's the same on the Democrat side. Promise them free shit, and they will yell your name for perpetuity. They have no idea how it works, nor do they care. Just pump them full of rhetoric and they're good-to-go.

I agree. It's just too bad they are doing the opposite. Over 50 post in this thread and still no one is talking about the issue that they claim they are trying to make better.

Are you insinuating that someone here needs to start a thread about social injustice for them to be doing their 'protest' right?

Not necessarily. I'm just trying to point out that their protests haven't brought people together to talk about the issue on a larger scale. This thread is proof of that. It's obviously divisive and only someone not paying attention would disagree with that. Read the article I posted about Carmelo. That's the way to get something accomplished.

The worlds been getting more and more divisive long before this kneeling protest started but I hear you. There are several different ways to skin a cat and some more productive than others. I see you. Although I wouldn't personally judge one thread, w mainly the same ppl poasting back n forth, on how well a protest is working.

I went to the Virginia Military Institute and am friends with many career officers in all 4 branches. You are the first officer I have ever heard speak this way.

My point is that I just don't care whether these players wish to stand or kneel, if the point of kneeling is to speak out against a perceived injustice. I would much more rather that happen than for someone to sit out of laziness.

Well ...... I have many officer friends who just happen to agree with my sentiments!

I say 100k per leg!!! My dead buddies did not die for their chicken sht ideals!!!

I'm not judging it just on this thread. I'm judging it based on the people booing in the stands and all of these polls saying people have a problem with it. I'm also basing it on my own actions. I've stopped watching the NFL, except for the playoffs, because I got tired of listening to all of the non football talk. Football was a nice way to escape from all of that stuff. Now I just watch a movie or listen to some music.

Let him dream.

I love it when men are threatened by other men who are sexually attracted to men. I dunno why. I just think it's funny how men's masculinity is so easily threatened. Especially when they resort to P*ssy, f*ggot, sissy... all that to try and feel superior to other males who happen to enjoy sex with men. It's so... primitive.

I don't understand it, but have no problem if someone chooses that lifestyle. Who am I to judge?

Some people are about to drive me to use the ignore button for the first time.

If I had my way, we'd shut down pro sports tomorrow. Then all these overpaid, entitled SOB's would see what it's like to work paycheck to paycheck, like most of us do.

As long as people watch, gamble and play fantasy, that ain't happening.

And in the grand scheme of things, athletes are a whole lot less overpaid than actors, actresses, CEOs and politicians. Plus most athletes started out in poverty. I got no gripe with them.

Well, I don't want anyone to put me on ignore, but that is your choice.

I was just marveling at how some men are so threatened by it. To the point where they beat them up and even kill them. It's so strange to me.

Not to derail this, but after watching more college games and the targeting calls pouring into every game, and, I see more and more evidence coming out on CTE being unavoidable and worse than ever. Now, Aaron Hernandez's family is suing the NFL claiming he had it. If this kind of thing continues, there won't be any college or pro football in 20 years. I truly believe the CTE condition has already set the demise of organized football in motion.

We'll all be glad UNC is a basketball school because that will be one sport that's left!

Not you strum. That troll, or parody account dude (as 71 calls him) that you were responding to. He's about to make me use ignore on his ridiculous BS.

This is all so stupid. So much ridiculousness I don't even know where to start.

The biggest reason all this is ridiculous is because the supposed issue isn't an issue. It's a fabricated issue. What are these folks actually protesting? Inequality? Get real. Minorities have every opportunity anyone else has if not more. We have put things in place to ensure this.

Secondly, it's embarrassing watching the followers jump on board with this. The good majority of these guys probably don't have any idea what they're even supposed to be protesting. Or if they do even know what it's about, they probably don't even really care. But everybody wants to be a part of the hype. It's comical to watch some of these guys attempt to articulate their beef. And now you have owners in on it. I can tell you exactly how that happened. Their PR guy told them it would be a good move to "show solidarity". The owners probably don't believe in the "issue" or if they do, they don't care. They care about their franchise making money.

Now we have broadcasts constantly addressing this. Cameramen are now showing close ups of players picking their noses and commentators questioning whether picking the nose is support for the flag or support for the protest.

Lastly, I'm sorry, but even if I felt the protest were justified because of a real issue, having overpaid athletes as your spokesmen doesn't resonate with me.

But they're all free to sit, stand or do the hokey pokey during the anthem. That's their right. I just wish no one paid it any attention.
