My brother asked me about this yesterday and I had never heard of it, but apparently this si going viral and Nintendo has increased in value drastically overnight.
Just wait till the pedo's out there lure kids into a dark alleyway with this thing.
Yup, I never got into the Pokemon cards - but I did love the Gameboy games. I downloaded Pokemon Go - seems fun so far, but I can tell it's going to lose its appeal (at least for me) pretty quickly. I realize the point of the game is to get people more active by making them walk around to various places - but when I'm trying to play a game is when I'm sitting somewhere.
People play it while driving and I'm sure we'll hear about some car crash death caused by Pokemon.
Actually, I haven't downloaded this yet, despite me being a HUGE "first generation" Pokemon lover. I mean I made no attempt to hide this. I posted in the "nerd" thread a month or so ago that I play Pokemon Yellow Version and Blue Version on my Android phone via a Gameboy Color Emulator.
What's funny to me is I've encountered a lot of people who either don't like or only marginally like Pokemon who are obsessed with this Pokemon Go.
Another crazy thing to me is how thorough they were in placing the pokemon. My friend caught Krabby (a specific pokemon) at a seafood restaurant in Cairo, Georgia lol.
Ya the stock shot up. I was surprised, since they're not charging for it and they're not advertising on it (yet) so I don't think it's any extra revenue for them yet. Although it does have options to pay real money for the virtual money, so I could see people giving them cash that way - and I wouldn't be surprised if they start putting ads in there soon.
I haven't heard of any pedo's taking advantage of it yet, but I'm sure it's coming. There have been reports of people getting robbed as a result of other people luring them into secluded areas.

My 20 year old son has never been into gaming much. (thank god). But he is hooked on this one. That tells me it must be good I think its cool it gets people outside walking around at least instead of hibernating in a dark room and turning pale and un sociable.

It is funny to me that Michelle Obama has tried for years to get young people to "move" and be active...and it takes a handful of Japanese coders to do it practically overnight. I'm easily amused though.
And because Pokemon was HUGE with current 20-30-year-olds when they were 9-14 years old. They made an awesome choice in only including the original 150(151) Pokemon and not including the hundreds of new ones that came after the first generation. People stopped being interested in it when they jumped the shark and included way more Pokemon in the video games.
I know I've mentioned this already, but seriously, don't you guys find it peculiar that, as soon as this app launches, RH decides he wants to go on this journey of his? This can't be a coincidence, right?

I don't know anything at all about Pokemon. I know there was a character in the Smash Brothers Melee game. That's about it.

it's a new app that came out last week. A crap load of people have downloaded it. Luckily the last couple of posts have been about Mario because Pokemon sucks balls.
Ask @Raising Heel, he'll tell you all about it. He's the one who went on a quest to catch all the Pokemon.

Soon people will be up in arms about the game and will want it banned.........which will of course be hilarious because they'll completely ignore the fact that cell phones, in general, cause wrecks and accidents all the time and won't ask for those to be banned.
Wow, the TAMU police twitter seems to be gold, per the example tweets listed after the actual story. Might be worth a follow.
