PRESIDENT TRUMP

Why didn't you address my point about the Supreme Court vacancy? No, you immediately deflected and started blaming Democrats again. You can't even be objective about it.
Actually, I didn't deflect any blame at all. I quoted your statement("Hyper-partisanship is wrecking America.) and said "Now this is a fact." Republicans are guilty of obstructionism as well, I never implied, let alone stated otherwise. I think Republicans should have voted on Obama's SCN as well. As I said, get back to me after Friday and we'll discuss the number of Trump Cabinet confirmations versus the number of Obama Cabinet confirmations over an identical time frame.

I'm neither a Republican nor a Democrat, I'm a conservative. I've never allowed an (R) or a (D) by someone's name to determine whether I'm going to vote for them or not. I didn't like Hillary or Donald as candidates for POTUS, I think we had several much more suitable choices. So I couldn't bring myself to cast my vote for either one. But now that he's won, I must say I believe he's the lesser of two evils.

I just wish Dems would realize that the people have spoken and wish the best for our POTUS and our country, just as I did in 2008 and again in 2012.

Change is the one thing, the ONLY thing, that never changes! So, I know that things are going to change. Am I going to be stubborn and resist? Or, will I be able to embrace the change?
A wise Greek named Heraclitus(I hesitate to even post his name on this board), once said "Change is the only constant in life." Truer words were never spoken.

I think we're on the same level, then. I didn't cast a vote for president either. I will admit that I felt like Hillary was the lesser of two evils, but I also want to throw up in my mouth just typing that statement.

I'm willing to give Trump a chance. Despite the shit storm he has created, he hasn't done anything yet. When he does, I'll do my best to evaluate it fairly before jumping to conclusions. Can't make any guarantees on that part, though.

Understood RH. I think it's a nobrainer to say all Americans are concerned about the state of our country, in one way, shape, or form. And rightfully so.

I actually cast a write in vote for POTUS. Couldn't bring myself to not vote for POTUS at all.

Couldn't have said it better myself

I believe Trump's SCOTUS nominees will be confirmed by the Senate. Thanks, Harry Reid. We owe you one. Since you set the precedent by blowing up the Senate with the Nuclear Option for everything but SCOTUS, not a huge leap to extend that rule to other nominees, including the SCOTUS. Such rules are not enshrined in the Constitution; the Constitution gives the House and Senate the leeway to write their own rules....

Many Dems are regretting their decision to do away with the filibuster. But read this article and you will see that there are still delaying tactics that can, and will be used. Plus, the Republican majority is razor thin and it only takes a couple of Republican Senators voting "Nay" to block the confirmation. I'm afraid this is going to get ugly.

Not sure some moderate Dems like joe manchin, for instance won't help some.

It's possible. But confirmations are anything but a given, even with a Republican majority. Republicans are more likely to swing over to the Democratic side than vice versa. One thing Democrats do is toe the party line, they don't infight nearly as much as Republicans do.

Quick note I found interesting -- the company I work with was contracted to work the inauguration...I couldn't go this time b/c of my back and our jobs are very labor-intensive... But in talking with our guys this AM, they said this media backlash over crowd size is completely ignoring a key point -- they said security was extremely tight and TONS of people couldn't get in.

Once again, media skewing things to paint the picture they want us to see.

Yeah he's promised a lot of things . . if, he can help thats great. Not a lot of Pubbies are gonna like him doing anything favorable for union folks. Until he delivers, this looks to me like nothing more than the same old Dog' n Pony' circus show he's been good for.

He promised to drain the swamp . . yet, he's only drawn from it.

The union guys were the ones praising President Trump.

Just sayin.

I saw that, thanks.

It was one meeting . . he listened to them, so what. He met with several CEOs today as well. I'm sure it was the same rhetoric, what can we do to help . . ? What do you see that we could do to be beneficial . . ? So forth . .

To me, he's playing both sides, looks great on the photo op circuit, but likely won't change the status quo.

That is definitely good news that cancers are being caught earlier and more often. This says that ACA has made colonoscopies free, when they used to be $275. So the prevention was still possible in the past, but obviously wouldn't happen if people weren't willing (or able) to pay for them. So then the question boils down to whether it's worth it to you to pay for colonoscopies for other people who wouldn't be willing (or able) to pay for their own. The answer to that probably varies from person to person.

Congress approved the funding?

I missed the part about the congressional hold being usually honored by the executive branch but not legally binding. But still, somewhat odd timing. Also seems counterproductive to be funding both sides of that mess over there. Should just let them have at it on their own.

Not odd timing at all. It was a big middle finger from Obama on his way out the door. I don't pretend to understand the complex situation(s) in the Middle East, but if you look at the arc of U.S. foreign policy in the region it sure seems like stability is the last thing we want.

I agree with the first part. As to the second part, I am not sure if our Mideast foreign policy is by design or incompetence.

Can we use alternative facts?

Welcomed to try.

By the way -- the viewership thing is right. I've said this about the NFL...the reason the ratings are down is due to the increase in streaming services (which I use 100% of the time).

The viewership of what?
