@AP_Oddities has a story about a guy who called 911 to get police to help him get a little garter snake out of his car. Told the dispatcher he'd rather burn the car than touch the snake. Made me think of someone on OOTB but I refrained from @ing him.

It amazes me how quickly humans have advanced technology. It wasn't that long ago that a computer took up an entire room. Now we have this.
"Not only does DNA last a thousand times longer than a silicon device, it can hold a quintillion bytes of data in one cubic millimeter. Every movie ever made could be stored in a device smaller than a sugarcube."

whaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

Cannabis Revenue In Colorado Rises Above Half A Billion

On Wednesday July 19th, Colorado representative Jonathan Singer was handed an oversized check for $500,000,000.00 to commemorate the half billion milestone in cannabis revenue in his state. The check was presented by VS Strategies in Denver, “…a government relations, issue advocacy, and strategic communications firm dedicated to advancing the cannabis industry in a dynamic yet responsible manner.”

Surpassing half a billion isn’t even entirely new. Since that number hit in May, already millions more (Almost 100 million!) have been generated. However, it was only Wednesday that VS Strategies publicly released the data.

The VS report also revealed that the taxes have increased exponentially every year since the law’s inception in 2014. Making 76 million in its first year, 135 million the next and then having the revenues spike to 198 million in 2016 is a joy to watch. More and more revenue is being generated, not only because ingesting cannabis’ rise in popularity nationwide, but because marijuana taboos are going up in smoke.

Moon dust-stained bag expected to fetch millions at auction

Neil Armstrong's giant leap for mankind onto the moon allowed him to make several small scoops there as well. Collecting lunar dust and rocks in a specially designed decontamination bag to bring home, the rocks became national treasures.

The bag -- not so much. It was forgotten about until resurfacing three years ago on a government auction website that space enthusiast Nancy Carlson liked to check out.

The bag used to bring moon rocks home from Neil Armstrong's 1969 moon landing.

CBS NEWS
"I did see a bag that was described as a lunar bag," she said. "Flown. With a number on it. And it included the word moon dust."

She quickly slapped down her $995, and a week later a brown box arrived. Inside the box: history.

Carlson said she "loves it" because "it was like finding the Holy Grail."

But "found" was almost "lost" again for Carlson. She'd matched a number on the bag to one on the Apollo 11 flight manifest, but wanted to be absolutely sure. She sent her bag off to NASA so it could test the dust embedded in the fabric. "And that was where things started to go off the rails, to put it nicely," Carlson said.

NASA told Carlson that yes, her bag had been to the moon, but no, they would not be returning it since -- they said -- it never should've been sold to start with. Carlson had to sue to get her bag back.

She won, though the publicity convinced her the bag won't be safe in her home. So on Thursday, the 48th anniversary of the moon landing, Carlson will auction it off.
