I'm really high on kids in that region.
NC, SC, Va

We should dominate the area, while also targetting the top 10-15 guys nationally.

David McCormack offered by dook.
Hope he's smart enough to look the other way.

I have read nothing to make me believe that an offer is coming from CH. Huffman really outplayed him when Word of God tangled with Oak Hill.

Love Matt Hurt but I agree, looks like Minn for him. Love Joey Baker but do we look as good to him if we get Hamilton in 2018< Nickleberry likes us a ton and he is a player.

1. Matt Hurt is not going to Minn.

2. Hamilton, Nickelberry and Baker play different positions.

Not so sure I am feeling the need for McCormick at this point, Desousa OTOH is a take if we could get him. But Big David is big but IMO is a bit of a Joel James upgrade but not up to the level of Meeks. I like what we already have and would pass on him and look for 2019 bigs. Just IMO...

If he goes to puke, it is clear he either does not own a TV or has been hypnotized! How can he look at Jeter, Obi, Vrank, Bolden, and even Giles and not see the pattern? That must be some tasty ratade!

MO...
Wrong again. Not your best thread here man.

You may not agree but you can not say I am wrong until the kid plays in college. I am just saying I personally am not as impressed with McCormick as many others are or as much as I would like to have been. Now maybe he takes it up a notch as a senior and I become more impressed but for now I see him as a coveted big more because it is a weakish class (2018) for bigs than his being a big timer in the college game.

1. McCormark is much better at this stage than Joel, and I loved the big fella. David has improved a ton and his body is much better than a year ago. I'm serious when I say this kid would be a monster under RW.

2. We want no part of De Sousa

Brad Frederick watched big men Ian Steere(don't know much about) and Naz Reid in UA/NY event last week. Stay tuned to see if Roy watches later.

The concerning part about 2018 is that we've made zero offers to bigs as of yet. We don't do so well when we're late to the party.

In other news, he's already 60% to Dook based on the offer alone. lmao.

Duke have a new instructional video that is making the rounds. It's titled "How a BIG Man Recruit Can Develop On The Bench"

Yeah.

There's no denying we'll need at least 1 big out of 2018, deep or not. And we haven't really been on anyone as hard as we've been on guards and wings. I was hoping that'd be McCormack, but it's becoming pretty clear that won't be the case.
I don't think we ever offered. Roy watched , but I guess wasn't impressed enough. He would also be another C.

Yeah we didn't offer. But he took quite a few visits to UNC.

You make a good point about him being a Center, since we'd already have 2 assuming Bradley's gone next year. The question mark is how far along will they be by 2018.

Yeah.

It seems Roy is content with playing more small ball in 2018 (seems that way so far). Then going hard after bigs in 2019 (Hurt, Robinson, Bacot, Todd).

Absolutely dead wrong on Hurt. Unless something bad happens to his brother at Minnesota, he is going there and that is a stone cold lock. Heck, he is transferring for his senior year to a private HS in Minneapolis to be near his brother and the Minnesota program. Kansas is even conceding this one as they have just offered Joey Baker.

You realize he'd only play 1 season with his brother right?

Hometown schools always lead for the frosh/soph prospects. When this thing gets real next summer, it will be a UNC/Duke/Kansas battle.

I like what I just read, especially this part: “Yeah always,” Steere said. “Tar Heel for life.”

Get on him now since he already sounds like a hard worker that wants to be coached up and is still growing!

So it seems some think we are set on bigs til 2019 (@gary-7 and @mikeirbyusa in this thread), while others think we should be looking to get at least one in 2018 (@RoseHeel). What are the thoughts behind the differing opinions?

It has to be perception of Huff/Brooks/Manley. Those that think they can step in by soph year and be good say we're fine til 2019, those that don't think we need to add a stud next class to help right away in 2018-19.

Exactly. Do I want Huff, Brooks and Manley to all be big contributes by soph year? Hell yeah, but I don't think it will happen.

2019 PG Ashton Hagans from Covington , GA I believe. He's 6'3" 195 and Hubert just told his coach how much Roy loves his game and UNC is interested. He plays AAU with Nickleberry and they will be transferring to Oak Hill and play together. His HS team destroyed Zion's team in the regular season and they say he is a blur in the open court. Anybody know anything else??

Honestly, I believe it's mostly a supply situation. Not a bumper crop out there in the '18 class. I'm sure if Roy sees one he really likes he'll take a shot, but add one just to add one? I doubt it unless it just falls into our laps. BTW, that's another benefit of adding Brooks to this class, i.e., we won't be hurting for Big bodies at least, and these freshmen will be sophomores. So if we hafta skip a class up front then we can without being a disaster.

Heard a couple of weeks ago we were looking. Roy was watching his AAU team last weekend and he showed out. Sounding like there's a very good chance we offer at some point.

I have had few exchanges with David and gary-7, & mike about the '18 class and the lack of real quality bigs. Seems this '18 class had a bunch of wings/SF's or at least kids in that build range, as I I recall. Curious how some classes go, few years ago it was loaded with bigs, some classes seem to have had a plethora of guards, this one seems to have the wings.

Yeah, duo considerations, if you can get a game changer big man in 2018 you go get him for sure but they are few and those few will stand out as one & dones in a weak class. But you don't take a maybe guy that occupies a scholly when 2019 looks so big and stocked, not when you already have Huff, Brooks, Manley, and Luke to get you thru till the 2019 class. To me, the big area of need for the 2018 class is a wing and I want Hamilton to fill that spot.
