Stats and stuff (Wake game)...

That is where the subjectivity come in, example, pass goes in to Luke in the post and Luke misses it, saw that several times last 2 games. Now did Luke miss a bunny or was his shot altered and he missed it under duress? Specific example vs wake, pass goes in to Luke in the post, Luke draws the double and puts a tuff shot up over the rim. Brooks defender left to double Luke and Brooks goes directly to the rim and flushes Luke's miss. Now you could call that a blown assist because Luke missed a shot in the post under conditions we have seen him make and yet getting it up on the rim was the smart play because it was either going in or Brooks was in perfect position to flush the miss. Tagging that a blown assist is not accurate to me because what happened is what you would want to see happen. IT was smart rather than a play blown, IMO.

I think you are adding more subjectivity than needed. If it goes in, assist, if it doesn't, blown. The fact that the miss leads to a basket doesn't matter in this case.

My main problem with the stat is that it is almost useless in the context of one of Gary's posts. Other than the fact that less blown assists is "better", we really don't know how many would be "good". So in that context it should at least be a ratio - assists to blown. Then we ask "what is a good ratio"? Since the stat is not tracked for all teams or easily available for just the Heels, we can't compare the results vs other teams or even past TH squads so we don't know what "good" equals. Plus factor in that fact that an assist can equal 2 or 3 points, even those values are skewed. 4ast/6blown when all ten are 3pt shots gives the same results as 6ast/4blown for layups (12 points). But shooting 60% on layups is bad and shooting 40% from 3 is good. Maybe it all comes out in the wash but who knows.

I personally don't find it useful because of these reasons so in general I ignore it.
