Udoka closing in on decision?

Checking around a LOT and some have us with NO CHANCE while others have us as a SLIM CHANCE and a couple others have us LEADING! So go figure!

We all know he is a PERFECT FIT for our style play. He would be showcased with our great guards and boy have we got some good ones here and coming here!

Come on to Chapel Thrill Big Guy and become legendary or go elsewhere and who knows.

Could the Jarad Allen talk have picked from Roy wanting to put some pressure on Udoka to go ahead and make his decision? I really thought this kid would wait and see who left us after this season so a lil surprised to see his decision coming so quickly but he could be feeling some pressure from us talking Allen if we are his favored landing spot.

If meeks does leave after this season, it really does open up great PT for this kid and truth is Hicks is turning heads, but even if Hicks stays it would be this kid battling Tony for the starting spot and Udoka may have the more ready body, both would get huge PT. If meeks doesn't leave then Meeks as a very skilled guy would be a great guy for Udoka to learn from and he would still get solid PT. Roy prefers to play 4 deep in our front court and all 4 get solid PT.

I think FSU is the team to beat for him, not sure how kansas fits in but Self is good at selling a kid he wants. You go down and set up strong and Roy's teams will feed you big man and that is a golden NBA ticket. I do like that the kid talks about wanting to play for a coach he trusts and a coach that loves to develop big men like him. Clearly you do not see that with Hamilton's big men, they come in raw and they stay raw, talented for sure but really raw. I don't care where this kid is ranked, he is really raw, really talented but needs to be skill developed and he wil get at under Roy's watch!
 
Based on this article I like our chances. I didn't feel good about his thoughts on the finalist until I read what he says are keys for his decision.

"It's got to be based on my relationship with the coach and big man style of play and how I fit their system," Azubuike said.

Based on that I can't see him going to FSU regardless of his parents going there. Logical thinking would say this race is between Kansas and us.

Udoka on Roy and UNC:

"Coach Roy Williams, he came to my house and spoke to me about how he's trying to build a team for me next year. He told me about people who are leaving [for the NBA], people who are coming back. The way he spoke to me, the way we've built a relationship, it is pretty awesome."

Probably reading into it too much, but still ;)

Actually, I think you are reading it about right...Hold tight, by monday a lot of our recruiting woes could seem in the past!
 
Wow! I hope you are correct! These two are perfect for us and we still have a chance with Alkins, no? Roy is King if he pulls any combo of these great recruits off!

According to Meyer Intel says FSU is out , thought is it's Kansas , but no one is saying it isn't UNC.

I hope he has paid attention to Chieck Diallo (2015 top 10) who was hailed as the next coming and now can't even get on the court for Kansas.
 
Just don't see why Roy would go watch the game if udoka is planning on committing somewhere else...he's set to announce after the game..will Bill self be there?
 
No word on Self. Shaka Smart, Cal (watching his son and Gabriel) and Roy were names mentioned. Roy specifically for AZs game.

Thanks man..yeah,just ran across that info...I know there will be other targets that Roy is there to see...hopefully udoka is the top priority!!

Here's an interesting theory (no facts or basis, but makes sense) I read on Scout:

Udoka was trending towards Kansas, but when Roy came to see him, he delayed his decision.

Roy may have told him something along the lines of what gary posted in his info thread (about Meeks headed to the draft after this year) and that may have altered his commitment. If this is the case, then his delay may favor us in the long run.

Just a thought.

That's a very interesting thought. I don't think it's a coincidence with Roy being there and not Anyone from Kansas being there! I read that Roy is going full force for Udoka and Rawle Alkins.
 
Any chance UA was gonna announce for Kansas and once he realized Roy and Steve were gonna be at the game, he decided to postpone the decision out of respect for the UNC coaches? I can't imagine a kid announcing for a school that isn't at the game while the other school has coaches present.

He's not the only kid that they are there to see..they were coming regardless!!

He was supposed to commit a month or so ago. Everyobe thought to FSU. He put it off. Everyone said it was because UNC came on strong and convinced him to rethink it. This was around when bradley committed.
