Udoka closing in on decision?

"Kansas will get Udoka Azubuike. Announces tonite at 6:30 pm ET on ESPNU.Sorry for the spoiler alert."

According to some guy named David Williams who's an AAU with Nike, said UA is going to pick Kansas. If true, the kid didn't even get his moment to announce it first.

I'm assuming because UA isn't a one-and-done and Wendell Carter might not come if UA is still holding down the Center position. So, some might speculate that by Roy visiting Carter means UNC is not getting UA and thus Roy is moving on to be in a stronger position with Carter.
Carter is listed as a PF , but I guess could play C. As far as UA some on here argue Self is peddling the one and done to him. I personally don't see him , a player ranked in the low 20's as OAD but I'm not a talent evaluator either.

I completely agree about him not looking like a one-and-done. I'm ok if a kid wants to be one, but I like for them to come in and play and evaluate that as the season progresses.

That said, I'm positive Self is selling the fast track.

We needed to win this battle for a couple reasons. Obviously, we need another big for '16-'17. But maybe just as important, we needed to win a recruiting battle against another blue blood for a top prospect. If the above is true, I'm terribly disappointed.

And f*ck David Williams for being a jerk and ruining the kids moment. What a dick.

Nope and nope. Wendell is more 4 than 5 and as a '17 kid the situation is different. Hicks will be gone. Should have no real effect.

Bossi, I think it was, had an assessment that was not exactly glowing of UA. Basically said he's pretty slow and a significant project, even saying he thinks he's too highly rated.

I'm always interested to see what others think of various coaches and I'm surprised you are "positive" Self is selling the fast track. A lot of KU fans feel he's too committed to the 3-4 year player and see UA as that type.

Self has a good track record of getting these international big men to pledge there recently.embid,diallo,..now possibly udoka..got to be part of his selling point !!..that African connection could be the dagger!!

I absolutely think Self is selling the fast track...but that could be 2 and done. I'm not positive Self is selling one-and-done, but he could be selling the 2 and done.

Funny that Kansas fans think that because I would put Kansas in the top 3 of schools selling one-and-done. I would say Kentucky, Duke and Kansas have been seen as this more than a lot of other schools.

I will add that I don't see UA as a one-and-done or even a 2 and done...but he might see himself as someone who won't be in college that long.

I would be willing to bet every school sells the fast track, including UNC. As another poster said, I bet KU's familiarity with foreign players, especially African big men (Embiid and Diallo), would be the main selling point along with the big man's potential role in KU's O.

Regardless, it's unclear where he is headed at this point so he may end up going to UNC. Whatever the decision, I'll be glad to have this chapter closed.

I hate to admit but I just cannot really get that excited over recruiting anymore. The one or two and dones has ruined it for me. i miss the old senior games when there were 3 or 4 guys you had watched develop over four years. This year might be the last with more than one true senior contributer that we see for a while. Kind of a shame that the perception of a senior starter is now a guy who wasn't good enough to go early

Udoka come on down!

The Heels need another skilled big body for 2016-17 (at least one if not two!). Anyone who doubts that should re-watch the last 4 min of the first half against Va Tech.

With Brice and Joel J definitely gone, Meeks rumoured to be gone and Hicks a real possibility of going there's potentially a gaping hole up front and plenty of PT on offer. Even if Hicks sticks around, it's not enough to have him, Bradley and Luke as the front line.

If UA does not choose UNC I hope Roy goes searching for a 5th yr transfer AND a late recruit (preferred walk-on anyone?)

We could be in a dilemma , 5th year transfers aren't plentiful and preferred walk ons don't offer a lot in most cases. Roy still recruiting Jarrett Allen vigorously but he is trending (that word again) towards Houston with Texas coming on strong. Maybe Roy can get some kid to skip his senior year (a la Thornton and dook) and move up in classification.;)

What's new it looks like Coach Williams lost another recruit to UK,Kansas or Dook. When is the last time he went head to head against those schools and received a commitment?

Where do we turn next. We've got problems next year if we don't get another big. Graduate? Juco? Any high school seniors left?

C.Magic,,More than half of the guys you named were never in a head to head competition!!..they received offers..but not so much as head to head..some got offers real late!!

'17 is ultimately more important. Big Wendell is a top priority. Got a feeling we see more small lineups next season.
On the other hand, I wouldn't necessarily count out Ol Roy on a couple of the uncommitted '16s.

Enjoy the rest of this season guys because it's got real potential to be downright ugly next season. I'm having nightmares of watching a 6'7" Luke Maye at the power forward position. How on earth do you miss on Rabb,Zimmerman,Giles, and every other power forward in the 2015 and 2016 classes? It's absolutely mindboggling. We better get on our hands and knees and pray that Meeks and Hicks come back for their senior years.
