Udoka closing in on decision?

Tomato, tomahto...I guess we have differing definitions of project.

We really need Az, period! We need his size, strength, and mean streak. Who cares about that label; the fact remains that he is a beast with great potential and would thrive in UNC's system. (we need bigs more than wings) Imagine the speed of his skill development with a year under Jonas, Roy, and our staff; not to mention S. May and all the other greats he would play against in the Summers! (Remember this same team made JJ an effective ACC STARTER)Tell me he won't develop very quickly, I dare any of you! (I will remember who you are if he comes here too, lol)

Athletically I agree, kid is off the charts and truth is he will be able to out athlete with his size & power a lot of college players. MY point is his skill level is not any where near his ceiling and I really don't see him being more than a complimentary type of player for the first year to year & half. Meeks by contrast was highly skilled, exceptionally so for a incoming freshman but athletically he was challenged. Joel James was reasonably atheletic for his size but his knowledge of the game was way lagging. UA, IMHO is more athletically advanced that either Meeks or Joel but not near the knowledge of the game, the basketball IQ if you will of Meeks but more so than Joel had. I think as a college Jr UA is talked about as maybe a NBA lotto guy, could be sooner but I don't see it as a frosh.

Just my opinion... But that does not in any way mean I don't want him bad! I think he is the most important recruit in a long while concerning the situation. I would have rather had Bam for sure but that ship has sailed. I would rather have Thon Maker but that ship isn't even getting in the water...

I say we're 50/50 with Kansas. Curious if Clint and others can get us some intel before tomorrow.

For what it's worth 247 has him leaning towards Kansas. Then again they changed Bradleys crystal ball predictions from 100% UNC to 92% UNC and 8% Alabama

IDK guys, don't have the best feeling, think after the season would have been better timing for us...Roy has put the work in but my gut says kansas...

Will definitely be interesting to see who he chooses. No way Diallo or Bragg are going to the NBA after this season. Neither get many minutes this season at Kansas. Both Bradley and Azubuike would look good paired with 2 seniors in Meeks and Hicks. Also Bradley and Azubuike play against each other Friday night in the Mosiac Stinger shootout. Roy and the staff have put the work in on Azubuike and I hope it pays off.

It makes the most sense for UNC if everything else is equal. Post featured offense and 3 of the 4 big guys most likely leaving. It's him and Bradley competing for the starting 5 man spot.

Rumor going around tha Udoka will announce tomorrow evening at 6:00 pm on ESPN. Trying to find a link.

Yeah Dave, I've asked around and can't get anything from my mafia that makes me confident. The best news was when he didn't go F$U early --- gave Roy time to do work --- but KU may end up being a problem on this one.

I pretty much knew we were getting Robinson a few weeks out, but he had a solid support system --- I really don't know much about this kid's background. Roy may pull this one off, but going up against Self and Hamilton we start with a... um, ahem... deficit, shall we say with certain kids.

So, what position on Self's staff will this kid's family member be hired for?

FSU has reportedly moved on and are aggressively pursuing another prospect. There is a sense of confidence on both the UNC and KU sides. Watch the crystal ball as/if advance info leaks out. This is the third thread on Azubuike. What happened to combining?

This thing is all over the place, don't think a single soul outside Udoka and his sponsor know for sure.

Speculation on Azubuike's recruitment; KU has Bragg and Diallo this year who don't look like they will be going pro. They are in the top 3 for both Bolden and Allen and this is not to mention other big men who may be back(I don't follow KU basketball to any degree). How many big men can they play? Yet respected guys like Jerry Meyer have KU as the pick for Azubuike and Allen. Can somebody explain to me how they can play all these guys?

Supposedly one of our commitments said something on Twitter or something indicating Udoka was gonna be a Heel. I don't do Twitter so I can't confirm but those of you who follow that stuff might have seen it and know the player that said it. Probably just wishful thinking like the rest of us.

Hey, that's one of those things that could be a good sign. Ya never know...

I follow the account "UNC Recruits" and that account said he would be committing to the good guys tomorrow.....I would not take that as anything but a hopeful heel fan throwing it out there for attention. I am 90% sure one of our actual commits said anything on the matter.

Bragg and Diallo (PF), Azubuike and Allen (C). I dont see how that is any different than Meeks (C), Hicks (PF), Bradley (C) and Azubuike (C), but Kansas would have a more logical distribution of the four players in the post by position and who knows Diallo could go pro after having been suspended by the NCAA for five games, but of course there is always the chance we lose a player from this year's team as well.

Have a gut feeling he's KU bound. I really hope I'm wrong. He would be a perfect fit for our system.

All indications are that Meeks is gone after this year.

So that means you have given up on Bolden? By all accounts Meeks is going pro plus you have other big men in the rotation now starting that could be back (Landen Lucas 6'10" 240 sounds like a C to me) , correct? So now you have Bragg and Diallo PF and Lucas , Azubuike and Allen C so that wrecks that logic.

Here are the components:

He has been FSU's to lose for a while but our thumping of FSU in their house and Brice leading that charge made a really strong impression on UA, Roy followed up shortly after that game with a visit that supposed to have went really well. Couple days ago we hear from UA that UNC is coming at him the hardest right now. Indications are that FSU backed away, may have backed away to soon. UNC has a commit from Brandan Robinson, an AAU team mate of UA, how much is Brandan in his ear? The word is meeks is gone after this season, leaving a lot of unclaimed playing time in our front court, possible starting position unclaimed. UNC has a proximity advantage over kansas, do not know how big a factor that is.

Kansas, there is something very strong that draws him to Kansas, do not understand what it is. Self has 2 very highly rated big men on his bench that are not getting much PT, one of those is very likely gone after this season to transfer is whispers you may have heard. Maybe UA feels he can leap frog the guys they have now and is guranteed a starting role? Self has been known to push the one & done aspect where as Roy does not push the one & done as much as he pushes developing you as a player and a young man. Doing so takes as long as it takes if no Meeks then he has a great shot at winning a starting role with us but there will be no gurantee of it from Roy. Does he need a gurantee of a starting role or does he realize that he needs to develop and be willing to do what it takes for his own personel development and for his teams success? That is kind of a character question that I do not know the kid's nature well enough to answer. Whispers are that he really wants to be taught the game and wants a program that features their big men and that certainly fits our mold.

I think it comes down to how much the kid is buying in to the one & done talk from Bill Self and with the kids now days that plays as really sweet music.

I don't think we could lose Udoka. We have been behind from the start. Like most, I think it is UNC or KU but I think people who think they know are just guessing.

Why would Roy visiting Big W (WendellCarter I'm assuming) affect UA?

I'm assuming because UA isn't a one-and-done and Wendell Carter might not come if UA is still holding down the Center position. So, some might speculate that by Roy visiting Carter means UNC is not getting UA and thus Roy is moving on to be in a stronger position with Carter.
