No one is saying we don't want a one & done guy, IMO most are saying in fact we do want some one & done talents but we don't want to change what we do just to cater to the one & done talent. Nor do we want this program to resort to having to meet the demands of handlers, make back room deals, or devalue our upper classmen just to make the high school kid happy enough to play for us.

If you are a mega basketball talented kid I would think that the best way to really become the best NBA player you can become one day is to learn to develop the talent that you have. I think if you want to become the best doctor you can become that maybe isn't going to happen with just one freshman year in college. I for the life of me wil never understand why the NBA does this and make no mistake this whole thing is NBA driven. The NBA put in the one & done rule, the NBA put in the rookie salary cap structure, the NBA features its individual players more than teams, and the NBA is drafting these kids and by the time they can become productive players they are striking new contracts with teas that did not draft them? It to me is like paying for a brand new Porche 911 and not being able to drive it until it has 200,000 miles on it and worn out? You are not getting what you paid for, you NBA GM wil be paying the price and one of your competitors gets the developed goods? This is the very same NBA that pays huge money for its NBADL which they used to get for FREE, yeah thats right, they used to get their NBADL for FREE, they called it the NCAA. So these mensa members of the NBA decided why get something free when you can pay for it? They took a system that was working perfectly for them, the very system that moved their sport from peach baskets to mega dollar profit generators and added un-needed debt while greatly watering down their free developmental league so they could all play with lesser developed players than ever before? It is to me the very opposite of what defines a good business decision for individual teams as well as the league itself?

And all the NBA ever had to do was just not draft these kids until they had matured themselves and their skills in the free developmental league named the NCAA and they could not keep themselves from doing that.

Well, in your previous post you displayed your disappointment. Those accolades you are mentioning, all with the junk over the program. Used against us in recruiting, kids in fear of a ban. Now that it looks to be behind us, watch out. Roy is going to do work. 0 big man have committed from the 2017 class. Give it more time until panicking.

So, anyone attempting to float the idea that Dook has always been this one and done destination for player after player is indeed full of Horsesh*t...Truth be told there are several people posting here who widely suggest and/or inaccurately attempt to tag UNC with the narrative that Dook is way ahead of UNC in this regard. They then also often state in one fashion or another, that since UNC can not get the very best talent, then UNC should look elsewhere. IIRC, ALL of our rising juniors had already committed by this point in their recruiting cycle. Yes, that was earlier than usual, but still....

I'd like to see at least 2 and preferably 3 more commits before the end of August. At least 1 before August. Then we can wait to see who else joins later in the year. Which may depend on how well some of our current players are developing (and whether they look likely to leave early).

You're equating the fact that I'm not overly concerned with dook's supposed 'infractions' with me supporting them. I don't. Everything you mentioned could well be true. They probably do have an advantage given their private school status in terms of deflecting away bad press or potential investigations.

The issue here is that you and your other little minions feel the need to jump on me when I don't fall in line with the standard thinking on this board (which I might add, is decisively lacking).

Don't exaggerate. I'm perfectly aware that we're still a ways away from most of these kids making their decisions. It's the fact that given our past history with OADs the last 3-4 years I'm not exactly getting my hopes up, while simultaneously desiring one of them to commit here.

It really is the same run around. It's someone wondering if and/or when we'll get another top recruit. Then someone else gives a ambiguous tidbit like "oh well my sources say player X is much closer to UNC than the media would have you know". Then player X commits to Duke. Then we hear a tidbit "oh well I never guaranteed player X to UNC so you can't jump on me - but player Y is now having a falling out with the schools recruiting him, and I've heard UNC is really gaining steam" then player Y commits to UK. Then we hear yet another tidbit "Well, truth be told Roy never had interest in players X and Y because they don't fit the style, but Player Z fits perfectly and is now Roy's sole focus - his family is in love with Roy - only a matter of time til he commits" then player Z commits to Kansas.

There's only so many kicks to the groin I can take getting lead on with all these potential commitments.

Hey, I have an amazing idea, I just figured it out, you and gary don't really like each other and do not respect each others opinions. (OK, so maybe I or anyone else reading thru this stuff didn't JUST figure that out)...

Style?? He has no style. He's an echo chamber for everything you say.

He went after me long before you and I had a disagreement over this. I know you deem anyone who doesn't completely degrade dook as an apologist or supporter, but in my opinion, it's petty, useless and downright hypocritical of us to be slamming dook for their academic practices when we're coming off a pretty damn serious investigation.

I point out the dookie hypocrisy of accusing UNC basketball of academic misconduct when they have regularly bent academic rules for basketball players, and take exception to someone defending that --- on a Carolina board, no less --- and I catch sh**. Alrighty then.
