Women's Basketball

The Lady Heels suffered a tough loss at home to VT., on a last second shot. They stayed in the game pretty much through it's entirety, but some bad turnovers and missed shot doomed their faith. Winning at Duke on Sunday is going to be tough since I believe they are undefeated at home this season.

Thought they were out of it going into the 4 quarter, but a 12-2 run propel them to victory. Excited for them, after the heart breaker against VT.

If they meet in the quarterfinals, pretty sure Duke is going to be pissed about losing in Cameron. Really believe this team grew during the absent of their two starters, with the young players receiving valuable playing time. This should aid in depth going into a grueling tournament over the next few days.

John what do you believe has happen to the women's team inability to score lately? Earlier in the season they were racking up at least 70 to 80's points per game against some elite teams. Then all of a sudden they could not throw the ball in the ocean in some of their conference games. Do not believe that other teams defense were that good, and it appears they stop using the press defense after made baskets to put pressure on the opposing team delaying them in setting up their offensive sets.

Obviously, Duke is one of the better defensive teams in the ACC. They only give up on average 50.8 ppg. With that said, i'm sure the different injuries have caused some of the issues. Quality of opponent is another factor because the ACC is one of the best conferences in the country.

No doubt as the ACC is one of the top women's conference in the country. Going to be exciting to see the pairing on selection Sunday. Just hope they do not place the Carolina women in the same bracket as South Carolina. Even though they played them closer than any other team in the NCAA tournament last year, we have no answer for Boston.

Before the duke loss, ESPN had us as a projected host site. Not sure if the loss would change that.

I was seeing a flop from 4-5 when the projections were coming out last several weeks but was really expecting them to be hosting a sub regional this weekend

Believe if they were a 4 seed, they would have put them in the same region as South Carolina, which they did last year. Not a good region to be in with Boston still playing for USuck women.

I think we probably host as a four. Most of the projections had us as a four and hosting before the duke game. Not sure how that one game made such a difference. The who tournament process makes no sense. It's like throwing darts at a dart board.

Going to be a tough game against St. Johns, they beat UConn this year. They have size which may cause the Lady Heels some issues with rebounding.
