2017 Recruiting Class Thread....

Welcome aboard Mr. Riley!!!! Love that we're getting DLmen!

and who would be the source/reason for the nefarious?
The rumors are his academics need to be monitored carefully. Zero clue if that's true or not. That's just what some people on TOS said (i.e. take it with pounds of salt)

2017 recruiting class FL has 40 players 4* or higher and GA has 36.
Georgia produces more elite players per capita than any other state. We'd do well to keep mining Atlanta and a 30 mile radius around Atlanta.

I'd also LOVE if we could extend our reach into South Georgia. There's also one or two absolute stud DT's that come from Central or South Georgia every year. This year's example? Solomon

That'd the reason many project him as Strongside DE. He could could become the next giant DE star.
I have even heard we recruited him as a DT and heard him referred to as a DT prospect. They say he has a large frame and should be able to pack on additional weight. His coach said he only started playing FB his soph year.

Very hard area to recruit. FL, FSU territory. The closer you get to the FL border, the more those recruits look to FL, FSU if they are not UGa bond. Grew up in Moultrie, Ga (Colquitt County) and was surprised to see the Razorbacks in on a bunch of their roster. Anyway, Lowndes County, Valdosta, Thomasville, etc all lean towards FL or FSU if it isn't UGa.

I'm a little familiar with the area (best friend pitched at Valdosta State and is marrying a girl from Cairo/Pelham). That area does skew heavily to Florida State and Florida in terms of who the "local team" is, but IMO that area is up for grabs or at least for attempts! It doesn't hurt to try. Georgia notoriously recruits South Georgia terribly, and FSU/UF/Bama can't get them all.

Population of GA is 10.1 million , population of NC is 9.9 million. Georgia is a freak of a state when it comes to producing CFB prospects.

Congratulations Jordan, welcome to the family. Staff off to a killer start with this class.

I echo Archer2's post, and glad to hear that he grew up in a family of Tar Heel fans....Always good to have a life long fan, grow up to become a Tar Heel on the gridiron, one day....Indeed, welcome aboard Jordan!

And agree that "The Hat" and his staff is doing a tremendous job thus far with this class!

Need to offer first..
good point. Sounds like he would love an offer. Fed seems to prefer taller DT's , Crawford is 6'1" but I think he blew them away with is strength and Dinkins is also 6'1" but those guys with low centers of gravity are tough to move in the running game.

Have to agree with you on how much influence UF and FSU have in South Ga. Certainly agree with trying though. I wish I could have contacted some friends in Moultrie to get UNC on their minds.

This is off-topic but just an interesting tidbit I can share since you're from Moultrie. A good friend of mine dated a girl for awhile named April Moultrie ....as in the same Moultrie family from whom Moultrie, Ga., derives its name.

2 new CB picks each for Luiji Vilain WDE 6'3" 250 4th ranked player in VA and Jonathan Sutherland S 6'0" 193 10th rated player in VA. Both 4*'s.
I apologize up front for replying to my own post . but we have the last 3 CB predictions for Vilain which are the only 3 made in 2016. Rutgers had been the leader but 1 prediction for us was from a Rutgers Insider and 1 from a Penn St insider not exactly homers. The other from Ross Martin a definite homer.

Vilain is from Episcopal by way of Canada, just like Patrice Rene. IMO, that's where these predictions are coming from.

Rimmer is a small town TN kid who early on was hurt by that fact. He wasn't in or near Memphis or Nashville. So he was overlooked. But the kid may be a great prospect at OT - not good, but great. He is a legit 6-6 and may get a bot taller. When he fills out his frame, he will be huge.

I don' think either the Vols or the Rebs have offered him yet, and that may help us. But both have looked at him, and he has other SEC and ACC offers now.

Just read 247 article naming him as one of 17 recruits to watch and called him one of the best pass rushers in the '17 class..all the Rutgers predictions were made before we flipped Rene.

at 267 he is a bit lite , but I'm assuming has the frame to add on the weight?

Yes.

Milan is a very small town - as in 8,000 - about 25 miles northeast of Jackson, which means it is the middle of nowhere.. Rimmer has had no benefits of even playing games against larger schools. I heard about him a year ago from a guy whose knowledge of TN HS football I trust. He said that if Rimmer were playing at one of the power football schools in Nashville or Memphis he would be a high school All American based on potential. He thinks he will play in college at 300-310 and be quick enough with his length to play LT.

That our staff is on a kid that isolated and that far from Chapel Hill who may become a high quality player is a good sign. We have a better chance of landing guys like that than we do of landing the 5*s everybody wants badly and early.

I guarantee that Harbaugh is going to be all in his ears and drawers.

And he'll be offered by everybody. Right now, we are in his Top 6, so there's always hope.
Yeah douche bag Harbaugh is taking the team to practice in FL for Spring Break and the SEC is irate. It sure will cost a lot of money and if they got so much $$$ maybe they need to be donating it to the 3rd world city of Detroit or to help the Flint water crisis instead of a trip to FL. Yikes what a state.

Isn't this kid from the same HS as Hatton the OL linemen we signed that uh..went back home? I saw a story that a UNC linemen looking to transfer was visiting Louisville and I think it was Hatton. I think he transferred to IMG.
Hatton went to high school in New Jersey (Montvale, St. Joseph's I believe). I don't follow?
