Robinson loved UNC from the first visit - the campus, the football staff and team, the facilities. It was just right for him.

I think he is a typical GA HS player who is not a 5* or high 4* but is in the next level of prospects. He has the ability to start on a team winning division and conference titles. Everything indicates he is the team focused, hard worker and good kid we want.

Bailey Hockman has committed to FSU , no biggie we seem to be well stocked at QB.

I'm actually very shocked by this. We need one good QB this cycle.

FSU is just as stocked at QB as we are.
I don't know if they are as stocked as we are , they lost the guy who punched the chick and they had to bring in the guy from ND this year. A lot of big time prospects seem to struggle at FSU.

2016 Juco CB Robert Morgan has committed to UNC. Anybody know anything about him? A great NC name any way.

They're stocked, the talent is just young.

Morgan is supposed to be talented.

welp, unless some other awesome QB comes along, I say we redshirt Chaz Surratt and also redshirt Logan Byrd unless he seems better than Nathan Elliot.

I've read reports that Chazz has commented that he is planning on being red-shirted this fall.

coaches no better than I, but unless Elliot seems like he won't be a good one, I think i'd focus my scholarships in other positions

Only an unforeseen rash of injuries/suspensions would cause Logan and Chazz not to redshirt.

I'm surprised we missed on Hockman. I thought he was close to committing last junior day.
Same here. I thought BH was a Heel for sure.

And re: Nathan Elliott, do not sleep on this guy's potential. He could very well find himself starting a season for the Heels. Perhaps 2019 or even 2018 if he beats out Henderson. Also, Nathan has switched from #4 to #11 which is my favorite number, so I'm a little biased now! :D

I think the plan is for Surratt to redshirt, but the kid is a competitor. He is coming there to play and lead UNC to the next level.

Agreed. We also have Anthony Ratliff-Williams who has moved over to WR but who reportedly also practices some at QB and could be called upon. He was a fairly high-rated QB. So it's hard to see why we'd take another QB absent some 5-star type of guy next year.

Why 11?

What interests me most about his potential is TX.

I like recruiting 1 QB per class, and that can be met by redshirting 1of 2 from a double class.

We need bodies on the DL and OL.

Alright let's ramp this thing up now that the tourney is over. I'm gonna do some Twitter scanning today and see if I can find anything to post.

We're basically recruiting the OL for depth.
Unless we have a rash of players who don't live up to their potential, we are going to be a force at OL for years to come. We've got that position group rolling, IMO.

Our front seven makes me nervous.
Yeah it seems that we just cannot get ahead when it comes to the front seven. Yes, we'll get some high-quality pieces in, but it always seems like we lose a couple studs to graduation at the same time we bring good ones in. We just cannot accrue enough quality or enough depth across the DLine and LBers. It's really frustrating.

I think the depth chart is a concern for prospective QBs looking for early playing time.

Many years ago, when Mark Richt was the QB coach/OC at FSU, he said that he thought the best pattern for QB recruiting, if you could pull it off, was to sign a very highly rated QB in a class and in the next class sign a QB who is not nearly as highly rated but is a late developer and/or sleeper.

I think that makes sense. And that means that if Fedora really wants to sign a QB this class, I think he should now be looking at late developers and guys under the radar. And focus on signing a top QB recruit in the class of 2018.

or lose them to reasons other than graduation. Every academic/other loss seems to be on the defense.

Yep, it truly does seem that way. And in general, for whatever reason, DLmen seem to be the most academically at risk players each recruiting cycle.
Hence a need to be very careful in recruiting for the DL. All the time and money spent on recruiting guys who may not get admitted, or are nearly certain to need special admissions (which means more likely to flunk out or at least face academic suspension), is time and money not spent on recruiting guys who can get admitted to UNC.

I mean yeah I agree to an extent, but you've got to have elite DLmen to win on the big stage, so it's sorta a catch-22 for us. I guess we have to hope for a couple of Lawlers every cycle who are strong on and off the field.

I don't mind us taking flyers on academically at-risk DLmen though. Hell, if you're going to take a risk on a football player, it better be DL. They make you elite quicker than any other position besides QB.

I wouldn't be surprised if it continues to nag us in the near term.
Nor would I. And it's unfortunate because it's the one thing keeping this program from being elite.

NCAA just ruled that satellite camps aren't allowed. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned. That was a whole can of worms that I'm glad just got resealed.
There had been several SEC people say satellite camps were coming for the SEC. If the SEC had not so indicated, the NCAA would have allowed the Big Ten to get away with it.

The SEC actually did not want the camps. But they were prepared to fight fire with fire. The big should be thrilled with this ruling.

My point exactly. Once the SEC had several people talk publicly about satellite camps being arranged for next year, the NCAA acted.

The NCAA used to share office space with the Big Ten - literally. The NCAA is the BT's whore. The NCAA ruled when ti did to protect the BT from a year of SEC get even strikes with that piece of midwestern hypocritical chicken shit.

Could you imagine, if say, Alabama started plopping these things all around the football recruiting hotbeds? It would all but shut out the big (and others) from recruiting those areas.

No - the conferences each had a vote - power 5 conf counted as two votes each - vote was 10-5 with 4/5 power 5 conf voting to ban them and 2/5 non-power conf voting similarly.

Outside of enforcement actions everything the NCAA does is by vote - sometimes by school and sometimes by conference. Folks want to imagine a detached and corrupt group of bureaucrats when it's all of our Univ Presidents and Conference Commissioners that are making the decisions in a democratic fashion.

You miss the point nicely.

Harbaugh's foray to IMG was not the first of these satellite camps - just the first one that obviously smelly. The ACC and SEC have refused to allow them, while the Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac have used them. ACC and SEC people have talked to various others - officials with other leagues and schools and with the NCAA - for some time. Nothing was done until the SEC went public with its desire to start having satellite camps. You can bet you last dollar that Swafford behind the scenes told the NCAA that the ACC also would start when the SEC did.

Until the SEC made its threat, the NCAA was happy to see the status quo continue.

The Big Ten is the most hypocritical whore in sports history. And its former roommate the NCAA is its revolting equal.

Brelin Faison-Walden 6' 196# safety has moved up to warmer for UNC , would be great to get him and Green as the next 2 commits. Both predicted by Ross Martin recently.
