See above. IMO absolutely. He's definitely ready, just a matter of a crowded backcourt ahead of him. This could be a nice opportunity to show out.Does this open any opportunities for Platek or he is just not ready yet?

Another side-affect of this is that with the 2-Guard rotation thinned for a couple of weeks (by Jalek and 7th having to spend time at the 1) Platek will likely get a few more minutes in the rotation. That is a very good thing for both him and us.
Doubtful.Gary, let me throw something at ya. Do you see a Theo playing some 1 during Joel's shutdown? That play were he dribbled the full length of the court and dished to Bird for the winner against Kentucky comes to mind. On the surface, it's scares the heck out of me thinking of Seventh bringing the ball up the court at the beginnning of the Stanford game. You can say I'm greedy, but the Heels need to step up and avoid losing these early season games against lower ranked teams.

Felton hurt his wrist in 05
I don't see why. Jalek is probably starting in place of Joel. You also have Theo, Luke, and Cam pretty locked in to start. But when Luke comes out, you are either going with two freshman (Brooks and Huffman at the same time) or you have to put in someone like Kenny/BRob. That means the team gets even younger when going big.How does this affect small ball? I suspect most of us picture small ball with Joel in there for shooting and leadership.
Do we try less small ball until Berry gets back?
Yep. Pretty much any PG who can shoot a lick can play the 2. The opposite direction is far rarer.Never forget when Roy said after Kendall Marshall went down that he would never get caught again without having several point guards on the team. Good thing the Heels have Jalek and Seventh on board.
Haven't heard anything yet.Anyone seen news on when/how Joel broke it? Was it in practice?
Well... I don't believe Cam is exactly "locked in" as a starter. KW is/was every bit as likely, in fact I did hear he started over in Memphis (not that that's locked in either), but with JB's shooting out Roy may look Cam's way, which would have Theo at the 2. Hard to say.4 weeks from today is the Stanford game. If he is back by then there is very little chance this will cost us even a single loss (we should be pretty heavily favored over No. Iowa and Bucknell at home). If he misses Stanford, the PKI is later that week and it would be great to have him back for those games.

For that reason I'd expect to see more small ball, not less. You want three freshman in the game at the same time (Felton, Brooks, Huffman)? The best players should play, and we need some more veteran guys out there.
In addition, at least for the first few games I don't think we'll face a team with legitimate bigs. Last year Northern Iowa had a 6'5" guy (Jeremy Morgan) as their tallest player on the court for much of the game.
And even if Kenny starts over Cam it doesn't change my point. When Luke needs a breather, are you putting in Cam or Huffman to go along with Brooks? I don't think it's close. We will probably be going small quite frequently to get the best players on the floor.Love Roy but Cam is twice the player Kenny Williams is. Regardless of who starts, there’s no question who’s better.
Cam is a better scorer that Kenny, but as for the rest of the game I beg to differ.Love Roy but Cam is twice the player Kenny Williams is. Regardless of who starts, there’s no question who’s better.
Yes, Cam's gonna get "starter's minutes" whatever his role turns out to be, and I think you are correct that we'll quite often see only one frosh Big at a time. Roy brought Cam in to be a Hybrid and he'll play a lot of 3 and see some time at the 4 in "small lineups".And even if Kenny starts over Cam it doesn't change my point. Huh? I don't remember that. He didn't miss any time because of it. The only game he missed was the opener against Santa Clara and that was because he played in an unsanctioned game the previous summer.
It's not like it's an either-or thing other than starting. They mostly play different positions and will often in fact play together. If Roy just wanted to start our 5 most accomplished players it would be JB/KW/TP/CJ/LM (with Jalek subbing in for JB for a while). However, roles and knowledge/feel for the system are important as well, and we need a traditional Big out there most of the time. With this particular team, what Cam brings is much more needed than what Kenny brings. We don't need a defensive specialist on the perimeter as much as we need offensive firepower. Again, the perimeter will need to offset the post play deficiencies and Cam can provide those points better than Kenny.
Are those jackasses banging on JB? Wouldn't put it past them.I just stopped and looked at rupp rafters. You would not beleive the vile they have for anyone at unc. It goes beyond sports to wish harm on anyone because they play for someone other than your team. I have been acceptable and courteous to visiting rr people but that is out the window now for me
I mean, being "classy" about something like that shouldn't even be an accomplishment. I've made it a personal policy not to visit our rivals' boards, partially because I don't want to be even tempted to post in those cesspools, and trolling is generally lame.Everybody at DI being classy about Joel's injury except topps coach. Go figure.
It doesn’t stop at UNC players either, they’ve clearly demonstrated its largely anyone that is a threat to UK, including refs. And Rupp Rafters is disgusting. Openly wishing harm on opposing players and wishing injury. The only thing worse would be wishing death but give it a day, that’ll come too. Looking forward to the day that Cal goes down again and takes Kentucky with him.

It is sickening the vile coming from those mouth breathersAre those jackasses banging on JB? Wouldn't put it past them.
Agree 100%............. I've made it a personal policy not to visit our rivals' boards, partially because I don't want to be even tempted to post in those cesspools......
They've already done that before. They said after we beat them that they hope our team plane crashes. They've also wished harm on the friends and family of the players. The only thing worse would be wishing death but give it a day, that’ll come too.
