Sorry but BS. The slightest contact at the wrong angle can break a bone in a hand. That is a fact and I've seen it happen.
In college a buddy and I were playing indoor "horse" on a Nerf hoop, and I somehow made this ridiculous shot called off the ceiling fan, and damned if he didn't almost match it, just rimmed out. Half in frustration and half cutting up he took a half-hearted feint swing at the hoop, and accidentally caught his thumb on the edge of the door sill where the hoop was mounted and broke it bigger than sh**. As I said he wasn't even making a real swing --- just caught it the wrong way swinging at air and he walked around in a cast for next several weeks.
BTW: If I had to guess I would say JB probably has a hairline fracture at most. If it was a full fracture on a hand we'd be talking 6 weeks at least.
