Bowl Talk

When recruits meet Mack this should be his greeting..

"Hi, I'm Mack Brown, I took a dumpster fire to the Orange Bowl in just 2 years.. how are you today?"

Not understanding why people are discounting the Clemson win. ND put up 33 points in regulation on top of over 500 total yards including over 200 yards rushing. Trevor or not, Clemson has one of the best defenses in the country. The Florida loss to LSU also didn't help A & M.
You're right, their offense had to execute, but Clemson was not great that day. 3 fumbles and couldn't run very well.

A&M can make a statement by trying to beat us by more points than Notre beat us.

ND D did a good job bottling up ETN.

IDK what to expect from A & M. Some people are saying expect a lot of opt outs. All I know is that UNC is gonna be pumped for this one.

Last year I was at the Clemson game and thought it would have been the biggest football win in school history. Close, but didn't happen.

Would beating A&M in the Orange Bowl be the biggest win?

At this point of the building process I think just making the Orange Bowl in year two is the important part. Regardless of the outcome Mack can tell recruits "look how far we have come in 2 years, help us take this program to a National Title." Now I would love to see the Heels win, just not sure at this point if there is much difference in winning or losing this game as far as the long term goal.

Probably so, because UNC does not have a single win in a Major Bowl. Beating a 1 loss SEC team in a Major Bowl is a very big deal.

The last major bowl we were in was the cotton bowl in 1950, so it's already a huge accomplishment. A win against A&M would be huge.

I'd think so. And might we finish top ten nationally if some blowouts occur. Say #7 florida, #8 Cincy & #10 iowa state all lose while we take a&m?

Some of the teams who made a bowl is a complete joke. Lil Carolina makes it after only winning two games. Let’s go Blazers. I realize they only make it because of so many opt outs but that’s ridiculous.

UAB HC Bill Clark is assumed to be interviewing for the Auburn job, and it seems that many Auburn boosters want him. That could mess with the minds of the players and help SoCar.

Carter is out for the Bowl game. Wonder if Williams and Chazz follow.
Call me what you will, but I have no use for any player who sits out this game. We aren't playing in some shit bowl. This might be the most important game ever for our program and you aren't going to play for the school you love? Next.

This. Why play the Miami game? Why play against WCU? Laying out of bowl games is treason.

Players that sit out bowls games are cowards. Do they plan to live their life in a bubble? If fear of injury then why play any games? Why get on a plane? Drive a car? Walk down stairs?

If we were playing in the Belk bowl or tire bowl, it wouldn't bother me. This game is 100% different though. You don't sit this one out.

Not much incentive to even watch the game, if this keeps up.

Mack didn't have to deal with players choosing to sit-out bowl games before. This is betrayal.

I have seen the argument that some Bowl games are meaningless. Actually all of them are just entertainment. Win the Tire Bowl or National Title game.. still entertainment. Getting hurt in either can happen. Just like many other things you do everyday.

Have no problem with the players not coming back to opt out. We are young and starting next year and on are when we have a chance to do something great and this gives those young guys great reps and experience heading into the off season workouts and spring practice.

Surrat not playing hurts the most imo..I’m assuming Asante will play in his spot? I’m really hoping Newsome and Williams play! Any word if they will?

Great opportunity for 4 star Eugene Asante to step in for Chazz as he'll be in that role next year.

Great opportunity for 4 star WR's Josh Downs, Ray Rose, Emory Simmons & Khafre Brown. Hoping Beau can contribute in the game as well.

Would love to also get Storm Duck back for this game.
