It might be a study of the obvious, but a study showed masking was making people be perceived as more attractive. Is that why I enjoyed trips to Target more the last yr or so? Women in yoga pants down low and masks up top?

link?

Of course they are more attractive.

People who mask up are obviously smarter, more empathetic and just better all around people than people who don't.

Why does everything have to be political? You guys are looking for nefarious agendas behind a study when there isn't one.

The study isn't pro mask, and has nothing to do with whether people should wear masks or not wear masks during pandemics... it's just pointing out that people's brains fill-in-the-blanks with a nice smile when the grill underneath might be actually be hideous, thus a crowd suddenly has fewer ugly people in it if they're all wearing masks.

As @gunslingerdick pointed out you were having a good day and now you've gone and ruined it.

For the second time, where's the link?

I have my doubts of this "study". What an absurd thing to even care enough about to research it. Plus, you're just telling us about some secret study and not showing us the study. I'll make my own conclusions from it. I don't need you or the ones conducting the research to do that for me.

Oh there have been so many times when a woman has looked hot with the mask on because it's covering up her not hot face. Good body, nice eyes, hair done up nice, nice rack....takes the mask off and it's hideous.

It's a damn shame and probably the worst part of Covid and I'm still falling for it 2 years later.

Well, that's a great question and had we not had the last two year long battle of disinformation over masks and the mantra of those that "believe the science", meaning we only believe the science that agrees with our agenda, you might be on to something. It's crap like this and the teacher unions "educating" their members that leads to this:

I'm amazed at the panty-wadding you guys are doing over this simple study.

And amazed at your inability to google or be remotely resourceful in finding info on the web. https://cph.temple.edu/about/news-e...more-attractive-when-wearing-mask-study-finds
Never be amazed at panty-wadding here, lol. Thanks for link. I just find it astounding that someone got paid to do this and it is considered a legitimate area of study. I am not shocked to read that it was funded by Amazon.

Regardless, I think they are 180 degrees wrong on this. It's not that "People judged to be more attractive when wearing a mask" as the headline states. Rather, it's that "When you cover one's ugliness, they are perceived as less ugly".

Covering up that tooth-gum ratio can complicate things.

Lol. This “study” is jokey.

“Faces in the “unattractive” group saw the greatest improvement in average rating with masks on, with approximately 42 percent increases in ratings for women and men. All of the faces in the “unattractive” group were rated higher after application of a mask…”

No shit? You mean ugly people were less ugly when you covered half their face? I simply cannot believe it.

Plus, this “study” was done in Aug of 2020 when the mask virtue signaling was at its peak.

In conclusion, this is one of the most invalid and purposeless “studies” I’ve ever seen and only a moron would have brought it to the board thinking it could have been of interest to anyone. I see now why you were reluctant to link it.

Do better.

Without the need for a study, I do feel relatively certain that there are a number of posters on this board that would look substantially more attractive with masks on.

That's pretty funny and, yet, disturbingly sad. Hiding someone's face makes them more attractive?? That must be a tough Target that you target.
why the surprise and skepticism over a mask making someone more attractive? Has no one here ever heard of a two-bagger? The second bag is just in case she tears the first one open. If only a mask does the trick, you're really ahead of the game. You just have to convince her to keep it in place.

Lol right. Maybe get one of those crazy, “totally health and science” masks you see some high school or college band members wear, with a hole in the mask for her mouth, so she can “blow on your instrument” while keeping the mask on. 😂

The surprise (although I shouldn't be) is that someone got paid for such a study. The skepticism is over it making them more attractive. It doesn't. It makes an unattractive person less unattractive which isn't the same as making them more attractive. Take whoever your dream girl is and put a mask on her, did she get hotter or more attractive? No. Put a mask on an ugly person and they aren't nearly as ugly. It's just an interesting way to frame their conclusions.

Interesting:

A new study out of Israel found that unvaccinated children may get indirect protection from COVID-19 through their vaccinated parents.

The study found that, regardless of household size, having one vaccinated parent decreased the risk of an unvaccinated child catching COVID by 23.4% on average. Two vaccinated parents decreased the risk by an average of 64.9%, although the risk only decreased by 58.1% during the delta wave compared to 71.7% during the alpha wave.

Wouldn't this logically be extended to other adults to which children are exposed? In other words, they are even further protected if teachers, daycare, coaches, etc. are vaxxed? Just seems like further confirmation that the previous and continued school closed downs, etc. have been about other agendas.

yes, but it only works for Jews

Of course, that study seems to just say more vaxxed people in a setting = less risk for unvaxxed people in that setting. Seems like a statement of the obvious.

Schools are still closed down? Or you are you just referring to schools that closed a week due to outbreaks among staff or kids?

Didn't take long. A new "subvariant."

yep, just like the cold and flu the variants are going to keep on coming. it's part of our life foever.

Going to be interesting to see if the freak out continues or if most people have finally moved on after omicron. I noticed during the game last night that Hubert wasn't wearing his mask for the most part. Even when he was shaking hands at the end.

Roy and his family were in full mask attire!

Yeah, I saw that. I think there has been a turning point though. With the exception of the supper paranoid, I think everyone is just at a **** it point.
Roy is probably a huge Neil Young fan. I keed, I keed.

I think what Neil Young and Joni Mitchell are doing is shitty. Trying to leverage your fame in order to squash people from broadcasting conversations that you don't like, is a rather fascist way to go. I wonder if Buffalo Springfield Neil would wanna kick 2022 Neil's ass.

Joe Rogan is no scientist. He's a podcast host who has conversations with virtually anyone. His opinions on Covid- the virus and its treatments- are his own, and he's entitled to them. I've yet to see anyone who is universally and objectively "right" about the Covid-19 virus.

I think people doing things to prevent public health misinformation during a pandemic is a good thing. Let Rogan say what he wants to say, but make sure you label his info as misinfo or make sure he caveats that shit out of what he's saying (or who he's having on).

Imagine you're a wealthy investor in a huge restaurant group. One of those restaurants intentionally leaches poisons which promote illness and prolong a pandemic. If you could afford to stop supporting that restaurant UNTIL IT IMPROVES wouldn't you?

The Dr. Robert Malone stuff, the invermectin stuff, the myocarditis stuff, all the debunked anti-vax info - Rogan needs to have counter-balances come onto his show with more weighting to show that all that BS is pure quackery. If not, then he's just spreading misinfo that hurts public health.

It's a podcast, by a guy who got famous by hosting a show about eating all kinds of crazy crap and commentating on guys beating the snot out of each other. It's not my doctor or the CDC or anyone else that a reasonable person should rely on to get their medical information.

I mean, if Rogan had the owner of a diner that's famous for their sweet tea on his show, I'm not gonna suddenly starting putting lemon in mine because a guest on his show said that's how they do it.

Now, if you had our government leader of our pandemic efforts who kept flipflopping on advice and it slowly rolled out that he had all kinds of conflicts, well, I guess you'd be ok with it and he'd still be the highest paid federal employee.

It's a podcast. Brilliant marketing by Young btw.

The economy and healthcare of our nation doesn't flinch when people discuss opinions on eating crazy crap, mma, even whether or not we walked on the moon.

Good for you, but people are relying on, and believing all kinds of media for medical info these days.

He provides the caveats himself. Constantly points out that he is a comedian and cage fighting commentator and nobody should be making decisions based on his opinions. And he’s had several pro vax doctors on. The worst part of the covid talk is it makes the show boring and repetitive.
