G- offense. OL played lots of Barnes, Montilius, Quiron but still looked really good in so many phases.

B- pass D 68% completion given up and he wasn't dinking. Feels like their TE was open every other play.

U- Tempo?. O never mixes up tempo. D can't get lined up quickly.
Hard to find something really awful from this gm.

If the OL continues to look as good as they did tonight then we can beat anyone on the schedule. That one unit showing improvement made it look like a completely different team.

Maybe they should stick with the sweet throwback unis

the left side of the line looked better, but they couldn’t look much worse than the last two weeks…hopefully it continues to get better…i do see a major difference when anderson is in, be physicality or just command, he just looks the part…anyone see the tweet that went out re: the three o-linemen that didn’t start?…i’ll see if i can find it.

still wish we would pressure more and maybe we will vs qb’s that aren’t as much of a threat as week 1 or last night.

i’m very impressed with 25, 8, 0, and 33 on defense.

Yep those guys you mention on D are solid

I love the result, but this was not a good game for us. 39 points is way too much. Sam cost us in the end zone, but he is the only reason we can win so I gotta give him a pass on that one. Mack cost us 7 and the momentum by not punting the ball at the end of the half as well. If Sam has to run like this all season, I don't think he will make it all season. Our offense is starting to click. Downs is good and looks like the real deal. Running game looked good, but I am not sure that it improved that much or if UVA was just that bad.

I love a win, but the next couple will tell us where we are.

Disagree completely. This game opened some eyes on the OL, Rucker, Gray and Hood. Those guys answered the bell and earned playing time going forward. Sam doesn't "have" to run the ball. It's not like they were all called runs but rather him keeping the ball based on the read of the defender. Mack said he wants him to slide or get out of bounds a little more moving forward, which I think he will. Duck didn't get a ton of snaps due to him coming off the injury but he looked good when he was out there. Whole lot to love and build off of moving forward.

Goodness I hope so. I did really like Hood. I just know that we can't win shoot outs every game. I scream for Sam to slide every time. He is not wired that way. I love the sentiment, but we need him all year. If the Defense improves we will be fine, but we need to be able to win a game 21 to 14. Go Heels.

That FG attempt before the half was just crazy. 53 yard attempt? And, it wasn't like the game was on the line, there! And, you give that slinging QB a short field with plenty of time left? Insane. I dunno if that was Mack Brown's decision or not.

And, I agree with you about Sam running so much... the WAY he runs. He gets a pass on the end zone INT, too. It was more of a fluke. But, he takes some serious hits in his running. And, some run plays were called with the game pretty much over and he didn't NEED to be getting hit like that.

And, NO TEAM should be scoring 39 points against us.

f’n eh right…it’s inexcusable unless you’re in the big 12 and your team name rhymes with mexes reck.

what ecu did a few years ago(seems like last year), was fireable, like right then…the problem is, when you play at the pace we play at, you better be two deep everywhere.

Been patient. But now I am still waiting on all of these defensive recruits, that many have been waxing poetic about for the last couple of years, to step up and actually play some defense

Coaches gotta get them on the field. Finally let Rucker loose and he had 2 sacks and a forced fumble. The guys that got burnt in the secondary are Juniors and Seniors. They played Ritzie game 1 and he was the highest graded defensive player. They let RaRa in for a play 2 weeks ago and he shot out of a cannon for a tackle. Then let Power in at LB and had a INT. Young guys need some reps.

I guess this is what I don't understand. It would seem obvious that you play your best players... EVERY week. I dunno. The team that played UVA in the 2nd half looked like a top 20 team.

They called Mendenhall to the league office, but he went down with a cramp after getting off the plane.
I dunno if it's a Mormon thing, or what... but "Bronco" is his real name. And, he has 3 sons named "Raeder", "Breaker", and "Cutter."

The length of the FG attempt wasn’t all that crazy. It had plenty of leg, just pushed it a few feet too far right. He probably hits those all day in practice so they felt confident. I’m fine with that. I’m sure the leash will be a little tighter now, as it should be.

I think they're putting the best guys out there based on performance. Rucker is playing more than Desmond Evans and Collins because he's been the most productive. Cedric Gray might've just stolen the job from Asante. Bateman played a hs senior as a cb last yr, and J Conley essentially started, so he isn't afraid to go the youth route.

The CHEAP CHEAP shot on Downs by Blount was clearly dirty and continuing the tradition at UVA of being one of the dirtiest programs in America. They do it in football and basketball ALL the time....and usually get away with it

Rucker didn't get much burn in the first 2 games but they unleashed him on Saturday and he balled out. Correct on Grimes, but they waited several games as they did Conley after it was clear they didn't have much depth after Duck went down. Think they should do that more on the DL and LB group with the younger guys.

I had no problem with the length or the kick, but the situation called for a punt. Maybe Mack thought he needed his team to know he had confidence in them, or maybe he just decided before the game that anything in that range he would kick. Even if you think he's got a 70/30 chance of hitting it, you want to keep the momentum and avoid them getting points. All that being said, Mack is the coach and certainly knows better than I do.

It was pretty clear that several of those cheap shots were targeted attempts to injure an opposing player. It's not a coincidence that Blount tried to take out our top receiving threat. Not to mention the obvious thrown punch that happened right in front of an official.

Cheap shots are a b*tch move. I'd say the same if it was one of our guys.
