Dude deserves a thread on here as well. We gave him a hard time on occasion but he kept his composure and I thought did a great job. No denying he loved the tarheels. RIP.

Yeah - I couldn't imagine being as positive as he was with what he was going through...I'd be a miserable ass (more than I already am right now amirite).

It's strange how knowing someone only by a name tag, can make you feel like you knew them personally. Kinda like hearing of someone you are familiar with, and interact on brief occasions, and finding they have passed. Hate that it happened. Hope it wasn't related to anything pertaining to this virus. Directly or indirectly

Yeah, I was just thinking the other day that he hadn't posted in a while. I was hoping it wasn't health related, but I guess it was. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

From what I read, he had a long hard fight and maintained a positive attitude the entire time. Not very many people could do that. I know I definitely couldn’t.

Mike was a better guy than most of these hooligans deserved, myself included. He's probably whipping heaven into shape as we speak. RIP, Mike. Say a prayer for his family and friends.
I remember him sharing a story about being in a restaurant, I think, and sitting with his friend, then seeing his future wife come in and telling his buddy "I'm going to marry her!"

People we come to meet on the highway of life, some of them you don't agree with at all, some you find some common ground with. Some of them touch us in a way that will never compare with anyone else and they become someone special, Mike Irby was absolutely someone special that I will never forget him!
I am going to miss him and his friendship. Mike and I "met" here almost 20 years ago and we became friends in real life. He was the best guy to work with when we were mods together.

I retired and sold the store about a year ago. The new owners say it is doing fine.
We both had the same parole officer, it was pretty much destiny when you think about it.
