NFL 2019-20

@Heelicious they ran 17 times on first down for a horrible average per play of 2.9 yards.

they threw 17 times on first down, which includes sacks and d-pass interference, for an average of 7.1 yards per play.

Wow, that's a crazy stat.

But Cowboys are still in decent shape in their division. The only team they need to worry about is the eagles and they are coming there next. Both teams struggling lately, but if you apply the "most desperate team" theory to the upcoming game, I'd say Dallas should win.

you’re right...garrett’s history suggests this is a garrett game coming up...he has a way of galvanizing a team during deaths, injuries, and ego crushing losses.

side note, have you guys seen deion sanders since his hair transplant?...just weird af.

Haven't seen prime time lately but I'll check it out

The NFL doesn’t really move the needle for me but I do enjoy watching the top QB’s play.
For the regular season, I enjoy college football more, but when the playoffs come around, I prefer NFL. I mostly feel that way because the final 4 in college is the same freakin' teams every year; and most likely we'll see the same this year - bama, clemson, OU, and osu (or another SEC team). I usually don't even watch those games anymore.

I think expanding the playoffs would make things more interesting. It would mean fresh faces and we’d likely see some upsets that would shake some things up. An 8 team playoff would be awesome IMO

YES! That would pull me back in, for sure. Until the finals when it's bama v. clemson again... I won't watch that.

5 automatic spots for conference champs plus three at large bids would also make conference championships a huge deal. Plus it would screw Notre Dame which would make me smile.

Imagine knowing that a coastal division championship would put us one game away from a playoff berth. Anything can happen. We learned that during the clemson game.

A. A. Ron is putting the ball right in dudes hands for TD's and they drop it. Or his RB's are fumbling too.

If you step away from a rooting interest in any specific game, it seems the officiating has been putridly bad in the NFL and is only getting worse. The league must be on a record pace for flags thrown. Especially holding calls and offensive PI this year. It doesn't seem like the changing of what plays / calls can be challenged has helped much.

I didn't watch the whole game last night, but Green Bay seemed to be gifted the sustaining of two drives by bogus "hands to the face" calls on the same player. Replays show neither was a true accurate penalty.

Makes me lose interest and enjoyment in watching the games. GB got bailed out at home big time last night, it seemed to me.

That is horrible.

Remember when Pollard was going to be a dynamic changeup, a fresh second option for this team including catching the ball out of the backfield? And how good he looked in preseason and in early games?

He got 3 touches, all handoffs, on Sunday. 3.

Good times...

there’s a screenshot out there of gb having thirteen men on the field and no penalty was called...also, im not so sure Johnson even got in for the lions first td...that’s on top of the bs hands to the face calls.

penalties are up 2 per game this year and up 5 the last decade.

so glad I stopped playing fantasy FB years ago... that kinda shit drove me crazy

Every year it seems more and more, it is more agony than it is worth. I think I am 9th or 10th overall in a 12 team league, at 2-4.....

I have the second most total points scored in the league.... but the most points total scored against me....still that shouldn't end up in a #10 ranking.

I think a couple weeks now I've had the second most points scored in the week, but of course went against the highest scoring team, with them getting like 35 points from their defense.

How in fantasy football do you defend against your opponent having the best week of his season against you? That is what drives me crazy.

I know he was injured earlier this year, but Mitch is not looking all that good this season.

Not all his fault, but the bears offense is bad. And their D isn't as good as last year from what I've seen

cowboys need to win tonight or garrett is gone...hope lincoln riley is ready.
My brother was telling me that Garrett was on the verge of being fired. I was surprised after they went 3-0 that he'd be fired this season... at this point. Isn't that a little extreme?

not when you lose three straight with that roster...also, garrett doesn’t have a contract, he’s coaching to earn it...this is when you find out, imo.

You really think JJ would sack him mid-season?

usually not, but he fired wade phillips after eight games nine years ago because they quit...they haven’t quit on garrett, they just have looked terrible.

If this game is an indicator, his job is safe!

MNF is gawd-awful this year so far; the first week had two decent games, but look at the fantastic matchups since then...

wk2: browns 23 - jets 3
wk3: bears 31 - skins 15
wk4: steelers 27 - bengals 3
wk5: niners 31 - browns 3
wk6: packers 23 - lions 22 (OK, so this one was a good game)
wk7: pats 33 - jets 0

4 of the previous 6 weeks the losing team didn't even get a td. And in the last 6 weeks, we've gotten the bengals, skins, browns twice, jets twice... the FREAKIN' JETS!

coming up in the next two weeks we get the dolphins and the giants. holy crap

hey! look! the patriots won again! I guess it's like being a Bruins fan in the late 60's/early 70s.

darnold was mic’d up...at one point he said “i’m seeing ghosts out there”

eta: the patriots defense is nasty...one analyst said it’s rivaling the steelers of the 70’s and seahawks a few years ago because of pressure schemes.

@TarHeelMark
Great post.
I think the same could be said for Thursday night games. I've barely watched a play of either MNF or TNF this year. The games are such dogs, and especially the Thursday games both teams see to be not at full strength, prep, etc

TBH, I rarely watch the Thursday games either. I'll have to check the schedule to see how bad they've been too.

And another thing... the MNF announcers are not very good. If I even tune in, I usually mute them.

The Patriots Defense has scored more touchdowns than they've allowed. That's pretty damn impressive.

panther fans, would you be interested in releasing cam after this year and have $2 million in dead money, but save $19 million in cap room in 2020-21?
I'm thinking that deep down Riverboat Ron is somewhat OK with that ass-whooping the Panthers took yesterday, in that now Panthers fans will be calling for Newton to return when healthy. If they had won or lost a close game, then fans would probably still want Allen to remain the starter. Their defense was awful yesterday for sure, but Allen sucked in his first game against a good team.
