Question for the OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion community: Are you satisfied with this team's accomplishments this season? Or do you expect more?

Personally, before the start of the season, I thought the FF was a reasonable expectation for this team. So I'm pretty pleased. The ACC regular season and tournament titles were bonus.

I'll second that. I felt all along that getting to the FF was about right for this team. Once you get there, anything can happen. However now that we ARE there.... I WANT THE BELT!

Getting to the Final Four is, of course, an accomplishment in and of itself. I too thought that was a reasonable expectation for this team. Then the regular season started and I, like many, thought this team may not have the collective head to get there. So this season is already a success to this point.

Now that we are here I want it all. While I can be satisfied, albeit a little sore if we lose, this team will not. They are headed to Houston to complete this mission. I'm almost sure of it.

This season is absolutely a big success at this point, one the team can be proud of. A set of rings would be icing on the cake and would boost this season into rare status.

Guys I watched both of this weekend's game from a hospital room, as my wife went into labor just before tipoff on Friday night. Baby daughter #2 arrived at 2:31 a.m. on Saturday. So I'm celebrating that as well as a trip to the Final Four. Pretty good weekend so far. ;)

For your "what are the chances" moment, she was born on the same date as my first daughter, three years apart. So they will share a birthday.

I agree with @UNC '92 that now that we're here, I want the whole thing. My level of satisfaction hinges on whether we beat Syracuse or not. Despite them advancing this far, Syracuse is not nearly as good as us. Not nearly. They just play that annoying zone. Now if we get past them and get taken down by a hot-shooting 'Nova or Oklahoma team, I can live with that because:

1. We won the ACC regular season
2. We won the ACC Tournament (which was my personal goal for this team following the Duke loss).

Paige deserves a national title though. He truly does. Brice does too.

Wow!! Congratulations!

I wasn't present during the in-game comments on this thread, but allow me to say this after the fact: what a game that was!! That first half was just crazy; neither team could miss a shot. That was some high, high-level basketball. Notre Dame gave us their A-game and we took it in stride.

Congrats Julez and family. Ya know.... Paige would make a good first name for that new daughter.

Bang.

They've come so far and overcome so many things that, with just two steps to go, you feel compelled to back them against any remaining challenges.

I almost feel guilty for being nervous about what lies ahead, as tough as it will be. They've given us plenty to believe in.
No message. See your "Tar Heels around the world" thread.

Very cool that they will both share the same birthday.

Congratulations, J . . ! Hoping that mother and child are both resting comfortably and are safe and sound.

How nervous and angry are ABCers right now?

Oh, they are mad. You should see the national board. A few Kentucky fans absolutely lost their mind in a few threads last night. If you want a laugh, the game thread and the 'Congrats and good luck Heel' thread are entertaining. There are other comments all over the place but those two are great.

The stick up CBS Sports' Jon Solomon's ass must be huge and wide.
Ditto for Pat Forde. Has he turned on his precious Louisville Cardinals yet, or is he turning a blind eye?

I'm surprised these writers like Forde, Dana O'Neill, and Andy Katz don't get daily nose bleeds from their high horses.

To quote Pete Hogwallop: "Who elected YOU leader of this outfit?"

So we will have faced no higher seed than a 5 to get to the championship game the entire tourney. I'd wager thats one of the easiest paths seeding wise ever for a team. Meanwhile dook doesnt make sweet 16. Those radar ncaa truthers are hatin life.

The committee doesn't determine who wins the games to set up "paths" and future easy matchups that aren't to be expected from the beginning. All they can do is seed the teams and pick which regions they go into.

In other words, the committee isn't responsible for Yale beating Baylor (or IU and ND playing UNC instead of UK and Xavier). If you're under the impression that the West 1-6 seeds weren't the weakest of the 4 regions before the tournament (i.e. not using the results from the NCAA games - since those weren't available until after the seeding) I'd be interested to see the rationale supporting that. Not that there is some huge conspiracy or anything - but I believe that the West happens to have been the weakest region of the 4 - based on pre-tournament resumes.

Many have already said my thoughts as well. I'm going DSouther/Coryfly now:

If we measure each season by itself, then this team is literally INCREDIBLE! I mean, it was superb. Even the losses weren't "bad" losses, from a numeric/points perspective. All the losses were very winnable at the end. And, then, to win the ACC RC & Tourney? I remember when that was sweet all the following spring, summer and fall... and throughout the following season! These kids have rings and banners and will always be remembered by those. It is best to measure them THIS way, I think!

Now, since we're UNC fans, it's impossible (almost) to measure each season by itself. If the 2008 team had all gone pro and we never got the 2009 title... would we have remembered the 2008 season/team as fondly? That 2008 team was a "Murderer's Row" of sorts! They won basically the same as this year's squad and lost only 2 regular season games! Do we remember 2008, or 2009 more? That's easy. But, 2009 had 1 more regular season loss, and lost the ACC Tourney.

As fans- and especially as fans of a school with the legacy of UNC- we endure these seasons much more intensely. I remember being really dejected in April of 2008. I take UNC losses, especially in BIG games, a lot harder than Redskins' losses! I'm used to them losing now. I'm used to the Heels winning. When we lost to Clemson in last year's ACC CH football game, I wasn't that upset. The season still shined for me.

Finally, The NCAA Tourneys take so much out of me. It's almost a month's investment. Building and building. I've never been as disappointed in a sports event in my whole life as I was in 1981. In middle school and almost crying. The only thing worse than losing in the FF game, is losing the title game.

But, there's something about this team that says "We're taking this... period." That something is yelled loudest whenever Brice Johnson gets a rebound.

I also don't like that the nets are cut down by FF teams. I remember Worthy not cutting his down until New Orleans.

You need to at least triple that word count to be DSouthr worthy.
