I think if Berry continues his development and Kenny gets his shot to be more consistent we can be a top 10 team and maybe get to the elite 8, but I don't expect much more than that.
That scared me too, but I'm not sure who you replace him with. There is no one with his length that Roy could have put in there. We were just kind of stuck in that situation.
All depends on their freshman. Dook definitely has a great class coming in, but so did UK this year and that didn't work out. I don't mind having one or two one and done players, but once you get to the point where you've got 4 or 5 freshman as your starters it's easy to have a disappointing year.
It was all just a bad dream right? We're about to resume play after the timeout after Marcus's insane 3-pointer right? Surely Roy isn't dumb enough to think Villanova will go for the two right? Surely he's gonna guard the inbounds pass instead of giving them a clean floor to bring the ball up RIGHT?

And besides, could you imagine a gary7 post-game press conference?! It would be pure gold. After a loss he would try to persuade everyone that we had actually won, we just had blown assists, bad refereeing, and because Nate Britt was in the stands. Would he bring a marker with him to draw air underlines and bolds for his points?? Let's find out together!
You shouldn't. It's a stupid post. I'm not going to get into this argument with you, but the level of success we've enjoyed for your entire lifetime is difficult to sustain. For proof look at UCLA, Indiana, Arizona, or even Doherty-era UNC. It'll be a miracle if we find a successor as good as Roy. Warts and all, brother.
I would've had Brice defending the inbound and went small with Berry, Paige, Jackson and Pinson. All we really needed in that situation was quickness. Get a hand in his face and we had a chance to be celebrating last night.

That might work, but you give up a rim protector in that situation. Nova had been throwing long inbound passes all night with no problem, so if they do it again they've got a better looking shot than the one they had. You could go either way, but at the end of the day you've got to defend that last shot and that didn't happen.
I felt like you should have Hicks on the inbounder. He already stole one earlier in the game, IIRC.

In all seriousness, the scene of Marcus crying and freaking out uncontrollably and pulling away from JoEl who is trying to console him, will haunt my mind for a good while. That made my heart break a little bit. Yes, that's kinda ghey....deal with it.
Same here. But I may have gotten roped into volunteering at a Humane Society event on Saturday, which would wreck everything. I'm selfishly hoping they don't need me because I need to get away and clear my head.

Omg its pure gold on radar. Kinda feel bad that opposing fans can see that side of the fan base. But its too much fun.
They're not our fanbase. They're just dudes who like UNC Tarheel [sic] basketball. Half of them couldn't find the Dean Dome if you dropped them on Franklin and gave them two hours. The other half wouldn't be able to find Kenan much less Boshamer.

The reason I'm on Rivals and not Scout is there were too many wingnuts on the Scout football and basketball boards (including premium). I'm afraid that element has embedded itself in our free basketball board. Sucks.

Can't think of anything worse to add to the experience than diving head first into a pit of excuses on the officiating and other uncontrollable factors on the night.

I admire your perseverance. I've jumped in with the "Good Cop" routine so let's see what they have to say for themselves. I won't drop it until they provide me with a specific set of requirements for induction into the "Real Tar Heel" club. Should be fun.
The ONE thing that I felt was disrespectful, was the post-game show bunch (not Kenny or Charles, but the guy siting beside Steve Smith); they threw together a poster with Kris Jenkins and put "Big Smooth" under it and said "Move over Sam Perkins! this is the new Big Smooth..." Bullsh*t, dude! You don't take someone's nickname. there's only ONE "Refrigerator" and "Worm" and "Snake." If I'm Kris Jenkins, I renounce that! They can EAD for that.
I ventured over to the dook site and sure enough they are laughing at that thread. I probably should have waited until I got home to do that. It's going to be a while before I can shower off.
And as much as I initially dreaded having to listen to the players give their accounts of the night, for the fear of how painful it would be, it actually felt pretty uplifting by the end of it.
I'll never forget Paige sitting at the table, shaking, quivering, and continuing to field every question with as much class as you could ever wish for. No excuses, no BS, no angst for anyone - not Villanova, not the refs, not the media asking dumb questions at the most painful point of his Basketball career.
I hate to single out Marcus because I'm as sad that Brice and JJ are both leaving, but that guy is truly, truly remarkable.

He really is. I don't think any player in any sport has ever meant more to Carolina and it's sad that some don't realize it.
