If OOTB goes away, I'll start a new message board for the THI refugees looking for home. Of course that's contingent on my ability to learn how to build a website and me caring enough to do it.

Many Rivals sites do not have free boards nor an OOTB type forum.
No way I'm paying to poast on OOTB. F this place if that happens.
You know I had planned to go ahead and get a membership this summer (didn't want to do it during a dead period). I had spoken with both @Raising Heel and @TarHeelNation11 about it a several months ago. Both of them recommended it to me.
My main reason for not doing that up until this point was I didn't see the value in it. Not that it is expensive or anything, but most of the info shared by insiders can be gotten from other places for free. Sometimes it may come out on the paid side sooner, but we are only talking minutes. As far as the insight and articles, that's good stuff I'm sure. But a lot of it is still rumor. Is it worth even paying anything to get that? That's up to each individual I guess.
Over the last few months I've changed my mind on buying premium. Right now I have no plans to do it. I'm not going to get into all the reasons, I've said all there is to say in this and other threads regarding the tenor of radar and what I believe to be the root cause of it. I'm afraid, as much as some will disagree, that won't change with premium. Maybe on the premium boards you don't see it as much, but THI as a community isn't just the paid boards.
If THI decides to do away with the free side and discontinue OOTB, Blitz, etc., that in no way forces my hand to pay for what's left. That may not be a problem for THI, but there are better poasters here than me that I'm willing to bet will do the same. Their value, and that of the site's, will be diminished if the "powers that be" decide to go that route. I'll wish them luck and move on.
Premi has had its value drop some with the amount of info now available through the social media sites. Breaking news can more often be found on twitter before a message board will highlight it these days.
To a lot of folks, being able to put $100+ somewhere else besides a Premi board is just more beneficial to them/family.

Also, I call BS on not maintaining free boards. Rivals has at least 4 free boards on the national level, so not sure why anyone is claiming that it is an issue now on THI.

I had premi at one point and didn't find that it was worth it. Some people do, and I'm happy that they do, but I just didn't see the point. I realized that I was paying to get "inside info" on where some kid was gonna go to college. I just think it's silly, honestly.
I didn't really like the premi boards either. There's less crap, but it's just boring. Nobody had any personality, no sense of humor, and everyone was always so serious about everything. It was just so dull. At least that's how it was back then - it's been a few years. Maybe that's changed now, but I'll never know.

Agreed - same boat. Tried it, but mostly hoping to get recruiting info. Unfortunately for sites like these, there now exists Twitter...although often times wrong, the usual beat writers often times post the same nuggets that you'd have to pay for on a premium membership plan. You just figure out which writers seem trustworthy and go from there. The guys covering the Panthers, for example, are pretty good and gives a good idea of how the team is progressing.
No offense to any of you, but I really don't give a shit why y'all do or don't have premium. You don't need to justify it on this thread. If you cant / don't want to pay the cost of one Jersey Mike's sub a month for premium, that's your prerogative.
No offense either, but it's not about sandwiches. Not for me anyway. I'll keep in mind you don't like us using this thread to discuss our premium membership status. I won't really care, but I will keep it in mind.
