Good day and welcome to Page 100...

So I'm just curious, what is with that dsouthr guy? Dude has to write a freakin novel for something he could sum up in a few sentences. I can't even read his posts half the time.
What are you guys, a bunch of sissies! If reading and writing on a message board was easy, everyone would do it! Reading a poast that long builds character!

I like DSouthr fine, but I'll agree, he likes to use the words. He has the best words, though.

I don't have anything against him, I just get lost in those essays he writes, and by the time I finish, I forget what point he was trying to make to begin with.

He's like THR's very own Cliff Claven.

Haha, I'm there with you, he does have very very very very long poasts.

Ya, he poasted on OOTB a bit a little while ago. But I agree, he tends to write novels. I read his poasts that are one (normal sized) paragraph. Anything past that and I just scroll by. No offense to him because sometimes his poasts are actually pretty good - I just don't have an hour to dedicate to one poast.

If we ever again have some sort of a "raid" like we did with the alternate handles and the avatar switch - I'll make a "DSouthrTLDR" handle where I'll just reply to his essays with a one-liner recap. All in good fun of course.

Yeah I think he does make good points and actually takes the time to analyze certain things, I just think he overdoes it sometimes. That's all. And it's funny to poke fun at haha.

On a basketball note apparently we lost out on Mitchell Robinson and we're behind on the prediction radar for Jeremiah Tilmon on 24/7. Great.

Remember when we could get pretty much anyone we wanted just as long as there was a scholarship available? You know, when our question was, are we going to have enough schollies for these guys rather than who in the F are we going to give these schollies to?

I was doing some thinking in regards to our basketball recruiting and how it's changed over the past 5 years or so. Let me ask you all a question. This is purely hypothetical.

Scenario A
Carolina still recruits the best talent and we hope to sign 5 star prospects - whether they are deemed OAD or not. But we are guaranteed nothing.

or

Scenario B
Carolina only recruits and signs 4 star recruits ranked annually between 25-50. But we are guaranteed to get as many as we want of those recruits.

Which scenario are you choosing?

Yup :(.

Overall - I think Roy is a great coach. After all, he wouldn't be in the HOF if he wasn't. Sure, he drives me bonkers with some of his substitution patterns, and his insistence on playing average upper classmen over better under classmen. But other than that he's pretty damn good.

However, sometimes it's just time for a change to shake things up a bit. I'm not out-and-out advocating Roy be fired (or asked to retire as would most likely be the case), but I can't help but wonder if we just got some new blood in there, with a different recruiting pitch, if we wouldn't become that go-to destination once again?

I think I understand the premise of the question. At this point knowing what I know - I'd reluctantly go with scenario B. Because we'd be assured of getting pretty much exactly what we want, even if its not the absolute top of the talent pile. My hesitation on picking scenario A is that I'm not sure if we actively recruited the shit out of 5 star OADs that they would come here over Duke, UK and the rest of the normal OAD crowd. If we were guaranteed (or at least pretty likely) to get our fair share of the OADs if we recruited them as actively as UK and Duke, I would absolutely take scenario A.

In your scenario A what happens if the 5 star doesn’t come? Are you then falling back on 4 stars (which would be the same as your scenario B)? If so, why would you not go with scenario A?

I'll just take three years of Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington with four years of Tyler Hansbrough, please.

Scenario B all day for me. I'll take 4 years of the guys ranked between 25-50 all day every day rather than the turnover with OAD talent. But we've had that discussion.

Scenario B is already playing itself out it seems like........yet we aren't even guaranteed to get all of THOSE.

Don't get all worked up like RoseHeel because 247 has us behind on Tilmon. It is still early and we have been in from the beginning. It is also only based on 6 predictions , but one of those being Jerry Meyer does concern me a little. When I see Ross Martin make a prediction I will have a better feeling.

Tilmon, in my opinion is almost a must at this point, because our prospects with Bamba and Carter don't look good at all.

How accurate is Martin? He recently predicted PJ Washington for us.

He is pretty decent. He predicted most all of our early 4* FB commits although I am sure his accuracy won't meet RoseHeel's standards of accountability.
