I don't want to go back home. We are in Murrels Inlet doing some fishing and playing a little golf. We went out about 4 miles yesterday to a spot my Dad has marked and were pulling Mackerel and Drum out hand over fist. My youngest caught the biggest Spanish Mackerel I've seen in some time. I'll get some pics of them up when (if) I get back home next week.
It took me ~10 minutes. The written word is just a random skill I've been blessed with. I'd rather have skills like throwing a fast ball 95 MPH, but I guess you gotta play the cards you're dealt.

It's not locked. It will be soon, though, because somebody just went crying to the mods when he should be over here explaining his bizarre interpretation of communism.
It'll be a shame if it gets locked before sk1310 gets a chance to explain to me why I'm such a loser.
Haven't gone back over there yet. I'm working an additional half shift so I'm at work til around 8. Fight on in my stead.
I missed the most recent part of the battle and now I'm afraid to get my 2 cents in since I don't want to get it locked. I'm hoping if it's let alone for a little bit, we can get back to duking it out without getting it locked.
I see the mods point - that a battle royale such as that doesn't exactly belong on the bball board. But it's a battle that absolutely needs to be fought - for the good of all poasters. It's more of an OOTB battle - but I sure as hell don't want to invite the likes of sk, chapelheeled, and gary over here to debate cuz we'll lose our sanctuary from them....

I think Rose in general is a pretty solid poaster (at least compared to many others on that board), but think he's misguided in his beef there - he didn't seem to notice how hypocritical and inflammatory the Gary crew can be.
I hate that it was locked. I feel like one thread on that board to hammer out battles is fine - especially in the offseason. If people don't want to participate then they don't have to. Don't complain that other people are poasting in the thread, just don't open it if you don't want to read the battle. But let it be there for general knowledge.

Wow that is totally unfair. People take this stuff wayyyyyy too serious. If they cant take dissent without getting butt hurt to the point of telling posters "gfy" then the problem is not on this board. Hell no. I'm as guilty as anyone for pushing their buttons on occasion but in this case Mike those guys went way way wayyyyyyyyyy over then line before anyone here did. I can understand your frustration, but I think that would be a little unfair to people who post here. There are people who just post on the off topic stuff so they would get punished for no reason. Also, what would be the punishment for the guys that almost exclusively post on radar? I think everyone here has said or will admit that the blame for the back and forth can go both ways and I think you would agree with that, so wouldn't they need to have some sort of punishment too? If OOTB gets shut down wouldn't that mean that radar should be too? All that being said, we need to focus on the real issue here. The fact that people who choose Dunkin Donuts over Krispy Kreme are allowed to post here. Those people are despicable and should be banned.

A. Most who post on OOTB have little or nothing to do with whatever's going on at Radar. Why should they be punished?
B. OOTB isn't the problem here. I'll just leave it at that.
C. How would shutting down OOTB help anything? That would just leave the folks who enjoy shooting the crap a bit and posting about off-topic stuff with nowhere to do it but the main boards. Seems like that would make the situation worse not better.

Beat me to it Julez. @mikeirbyusa It seems like the real issue from the radar posters has to do with this particular thread and not the board itself. In my opinion this thread actually helps the discourse on radar. This thread serves two main purposes in my mind; to discuss issues and opinions that some feel would cause a huge issue on radar and to let off a little steam here instead of radar. Shutting down this board would lead to three things. Quality posters would just leave the site and not return, the blowing off steam would make its way to radar or you would have multiple off topic threads on radar and or the football boards. I don't think anyone would want any of those to happen, because it would make the overall experience worse not better.
So, if you and other mods feel like the conversation has gotten so bad that you need to shut down a board how about we try something else first. If someone post something that you feel steps over the line PM that poster and you guys can have a conversation on how to handle it going forward. If you think the poster continues to make inappropriate posts take away his posting privileges for a day or two. As long as that is applied evenly to every poster then I think everyone would be ok with those terms.
Fair question, and good one to demonstrate how these threads spiral out of control. I'm gonna do a brief play-by-play for @mikeirbyusa's sake so he doesn't have to read back through the whole thing.
The thread was cruising along just fine until Bur-Heel said that Wendell Carter would be the next commitment. Coach325 responded that would be correct if you put "to Duke" at the end of that statement. Coach325 put a winky face at the end of his poast, which most reasonable people would just take as a good-natured ribbing from a rival fan.
Well, naturally Radar can't allow an outsider to make a harmless joke on our boards. Gary immediately jumped in and suggested that Coach325 had an agenda that wasn't welcome on our boards (link).
Coach provided a fairly reasonable response to him, except at the very end he said that GareBear's tidbits "are normally incorrect" (link). That was an ugly little dig, but no big deal. Rather than Gary just blowing it off, he got his panties in a wad and suggested that Coach325 shouldn't be poasting on a Carolina board because he's neither an alum nor fan (link). Several Carolina poasters chimed in at this point and said they appreciated hearing some outside perspective, and the thread got back on topic.
So everything was fine again until Archer (hi, Archer!) jumped in, complaining that Coach325 doesn't need to keep poasting his same opinion over and over (link). A couple poasts later, keysersosay#1 launched into a psychopathic rant (link) about how we didn't want to hear about dook recruiting on our board (never mind Carter is being recruited by both schools). That was the gas on the fire and everything went to crap after that.
So there you go, Mike. It's the same garbage over and over from the same poasters who have anointed themselves the message board police. Then, when they get called out for it, we get some double-speak about how "you're more than welcome to your opinions" (link) from GareBear, which of course is absolute hypocrisy because he's the one who started the problems in the first place.
Nothing is going to change until the root of the problem is dealt with. If you'd rather have us contact you than calling out poasters in the thread, maybe that's an effective compromise to deal with the issue. Sound fair?
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that was a crap post. It's obvious that any summary of that thread should include @JuleZ '02 HEEL and my minions gifs. The thread was temporarily bumped up to a 5 star rating when those gifs were posted.
If Wendell Carter commits to UNC then I will run down the street in front of my house naked. My choice of time of course.
That may have been a dig - but was Coach wrong? I get that not every tidbit is going to pan out - and that some info is better than no info - but I can't really remember too many times that he's been right on a recruit. And I can remember several instances (Ingram, Giles, Bam, etc. - can probably add Carter to this list once he inevitably commits to Duke) where he seemed to indicate we were in a better position than we really were.
But where I have the problem is the refusal to accept other info. Like if Gary was right all the time, then sure - he could tell people with conflicting info to go pound sand. But he's not right all the time, and if I were a betting man (who am I kidding - you all know I am), I would put my money on Coach being right in this instance over Gary (in that Carter is Duke-bound).
Btw - the GareBear nickname is great. That and saying hi to Archer - who is absolutely reading the thread - are both insta-likes from me.
Exactly. If gary was actually correct in anything he said it might be a different story. But the impression I get is that he's almost never right. It's the same shit you were talking about hark.
"My sources indicate that we are still in it for x player" and then lo and behold he commits somewhere else a week later. He can't hold this superior attitude to anyone who challenges his tidbits and information when it's usually wrong.
And what's worse is that dgheel (the mod) backed him up saying that gary was almost always "spot on" are you f**kin kidding me?
Well, while I was checking in on the DI obsession with THR, I saw that I had been tagged in a poast. I then found out that I am not banned there (it must be because their mods are so much more awesome over there - just ask them). But anyway, I doubt I'll be allowed to poast there much longer. If not already banned for calling Mark a moron, they'll certainly give me the ax if he were to respond. Because as y'all know, I'm not likely to give in regardless of what board I'm on.
