Sucks it had to end that way, but it was time to move on. Looking forward to see who will be the next coach to win 7-8 games.
Holy snit! Fired? I honestly thought that could never happen. I'm sure they first must have urged him to retire. This actually makes me sad in a giddy sort of way. Hope springs eternal. PLEASE get us somebody good.
For a hot minute my excitement about Carolina fball rekindled. But then i hear people saying that Arthur Smith's dad could help add to the NIL coffers. So we're just chasing NIL $ as the most important thing in a team sport? Boo.

if you're paying attention, you'll understand that what we are seeing is the dismantling of the amateur/student-athlete myth. It had to happen given the legalities involved, but I think those legalities are ill-founded. Doesn't matter, we are at the brink of semi-pro status and that probably won't be the end of the PROgression.
Given the current state of things, getting Smith on board might be just what we needed. Or probably not.
sure it's been a myth. NIL didn't DO that, but it begins to reveal the truth of the matter.. The S-A myth has been propped up by self-interested parties who benefitted from the pretense.. The U's, the athletes, and the fans. This is the dismantling of that myth, just as it says. NIL, as it is currently developing, is a big step toward acknowledging that 'student-athletes' are really just paid performers.
Maybe everybody knows something I don’t or maybe I’m just stupid but I got to say the thought of Bill Belichick being UNC’s coach gives me a raging hard on.
to me it’s a two year thing…i don’t believe he can hand it over to someone good, i don’t believe he can make a parent trust him for 2+ years, and i wholeheartedly believe he can’t leave a place in better hands.
i do believe his hoodie would sell out in months.

I loved the tearaways, not so fond of the stair-step UNC when our present logo is so iconic. That does it, so much for Belichick. How about let him know for me.

Since soccer is football I wanna wish good luck to lady tarheels going for natty number twenty something on mon knocking out #1 dook in the process. They’ve had a dry spell going like ten years since their last title but even though it’s women it’s still the most successful sports program of any school in any sport in the ncaa and they deserve props.
Not only did they beat duke, it was in the FF game and their coach announced his retirement before the season. And we have a first year coach. Sound familiar?
I tend to be on the hesitant side like you when it comes to recruiting, but he would probably kill it in the portal. I don't think we would take the next step and my first choice would be Campbell, but our NIL and Rams Club donations would explode. So at least in that way it would be better.
if it makes people care/donate more, then fine…media monday’s will be fun for the fans.

I think you're right about the RC money coming in, but that would help recruiting as well as the portal, which is really just another recruiting avenue. But he would also need to make a considerable splash on the field and not waste time doing it.
I think the Sumrall stuff was put out by his people to drive up his price and let people know there's already schools trying to get him. Either way I think he would have been a horrible hire so I'm glad it didn't work out.

I thought it was a pretty good gif from the standpoint of picking an appropriate gif in response to your post. Whether what it seems to say is good or bad depends on your perspective. I would say neither or both. I only meant for it to convey somebody who has just been given something else interesting to think about, along the lines of pondering new coaches.
hold on, there’s always info that these guys are wrong…he’s been called out as wrong as he is credible.
there is literally nobody other than a personal connection that is right about these things…this is not like free agency or nfl cut/sign news.
It's obviously not a long shot for reasons you know as well. If he's not coach, it's going to be because we screwed something up, not because of him.

i disagree…i think he might be wanting more and i don’t necessarily think that’s a unc fault.
i can’t get past control of the dept and his son as hciw…that’s a big deal and i’m not even a donor.
