OOTB Carolina football discussion thread

We suck. So fukkin bad. Fml.
I hiked Pinnacle Mountain today, at Table Rock. Beautiful up there! All the rain left awesome new waterfalls.

College football has been a gigantic disappointment this season.

Kentucky in the top 20 is a joke! NCSU in the top 25 is a joke. Even Syracuse in the top 25 is a joke!

I think it's obvious that it will be Clemson and Alabama... it should be. They are clearly the best two teams by far.

Mark Richt is also showing his inabilities! The ACC is pretty weak. Northwestern just won the Big Ten (west?).

That is a beautiful hike. I love those trails. Tried to run up the mountain last time I was there and it humbled me very quickly.

It’s definitley going to come down to clemson and Alabama. But I think bama will beat them. Lawrence is not ready to beat that kind of defense, yet.

Table Rock has lots of people. Pinnacle Rock is the road less traveled.

My Aussie Shepherd drags me up and down. The waterfalls this time were EVERYWHERE... the rain increases them. Slippery, though. You can still see some burned trees.

We did the entire Foothills Trail early this year. It is all nice. We finished at Table Rock State Park, started at Oconee. There's some serious climbing on that trail. Good views as well.

I’ve thought about going after the FKT on the foothills trail. Need a few more years of hard training before I get to that level though.

Much respect for fed stepping into a cluster fuk that was unc fb. I dont think many coaches could have done any better those first few seasons. Hes endured some incredibly bad luck these last couple seasons i admit. But the record now speaks for itself plus hes lost the recruiting battle in the state. Thanks for your efforts but Good bye and good luck.

Among the top candidates to replace Fedora are Memphis' Mike Norvell (who worked with Cunningham at Tulsa), Troy's Neal Brown, Appalachian State's Scott Satterfield, North Texas' Seth Littrell (a former UNC offensive coordinator), Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott, Maryland interim coach Matt Canada, Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and former Texas coach and current ESPN analyst Mack Brown (who coached at UNC from 1988 to '97).

So who would you take off that list??

Jim Harbaugh might be available after yesterday’s debacle
Nah... He's still in good graces. But, damn, that was a terrible loss. And, his post-game PC showed how totally stunned he was and at a loss for words.

His record against Ohio State is awful. Those schools don't keep coaches that lose to the other school. John Cooper is a great example.

Woke up to an email from ex college roomie that has worked for unc for 30 yrs. Hes the one told me we offered davis before anyone knew and that we were firing doherry before anyone reported it. He says its mack brown

If true, I'm not sure how I feel about this. If Mack was to bring in a solid staff (and hopefully a plan for a coach-in-waiting) to take over when he retires, then it might work out well.

But he's 67 and been away from coaching for 5-6 years. We've all seen how coaches returning after a long layoff has not done so well (college and pro).

I said the exact same thing on the Blitz forum. This hire all comes down to the coaching staff and who takes over for him when he retires.

I think we can be a consistent 10 win team if Mack can bring Chizik and a solid offensive coordinator. National championship rings go along way with recruiting

I think Chizik would be a nice addition to the staff. Not sure about how I feel about him as the coach-in-waiting though.

I asked my friend at unc if this had been in the works before sat and he said “most definitely “. It does give him a couple weeks of recruiting fwiw. Kudos to unc for having a plan if this is true.
Given the speed of the hire, it had to have been in the works for a while. At the very least, the donors have been in Mack's ear for a while.

At this point, being 0 for last 3 yrs vs state dook and ecu, with a 60th rank recruiting class and a serious lacknof discipline.....i’ll take it. I feel a competent coach can keep us bowl eligible and compete for coastal crown which right now seems so far away.
