OOTB's Political Thread . ..

If you want to pretend that this country- its institutions, laws, and societal norms- was not built on a white, male protestant heirarchy, then you're choosing to ignore reality. It must not be as flattering as it used to be. That's progress.
Of course it was, master of the obvious. So was most of Europe. Male hierarchy has been the way of the world for many millenniums. So all men, including yourself, are bastards I guess. And yes, many atrocious acts have been done in the name of religion over the centuries, many religions, not just Christianity. There’s more evil being done in the name of Islam today than all the rest combined. But just because you’re an amoral bastard, I refuse to abandon my religion. I think the good it has done outweighs the evil.

First thing you've said that makes any sense.
Now, how do you remove all of them? That's the tricky part. There are definitely more of them than there are of you, in number, I mean. Republicans haven't won a popular vote for president in 30 years or more.

Civil war, maybe? Destroy the country to get rid of them? Has that been tried before?

She announced today that she has left the Dems. And I don't really know if she is going to run for anything. But I'm curious as to if you would support her if she did run?
Good for her. Can you really blame her?
If we could just get rid of all the democrats, life would be perfect.
Typical sarcastic remark we get from the village idiot when you can’t refute facts.

Good always outweighs the evil. I would bet that, if put to it, I have an almost identical morality as you have, on a case-by-case basis.

And, when you have to resort to "well, other people have done the same thing" You've really hit rock bottom. "Your honor, I may have murdered that woman, but there have been a lot of people that murdered other people, too. Don't I get any credit for that?" Probably not. If you know better, then you know better. How you act and react is where that manifests.

I'm definitely not encouraging anyone to believe that Islam is some kind of better alternative. Quite the opposite. Islam is the baby child of the Abrahamic Religion family. They're still in the "Kill the infidels" stage. Christians seem to have outgrown that, for the most part. The Hebrews are old and tired, mostly introspective and still get the brunt of persecution by the other two.

My beef is with organized religion because it teaches people- mandates, in fact- that they must obey the church, and the religion, in order to acknowledge and affirm their true selves and their connection with the origin of our shared experience. To me, that is dangerous and it's a con of gigantic proportions... not to mention, it's horribly amoral.

So you hate Jews and Christians but kind of give Muslims a pass even though they purport to be an Abrahamic religion?

Christianity was never founded on killing the Infidels, by the way.

Grooming is what that teacher was doing. Anyone who would allow their child to be in her class is guilty of child abuse.

Here’s where you piss me off when you continually refer to this mythical “hierarchical scale with white Christian men at the top and everyone else can f**k off”. That’s bullshit and offensive to a lot of Americans who happen to be white Christian men. Strum resorts to that lie a lot when backed into a corner where he can’t psychobabble his way out of it. When you agree with Strum on something, it should be cause to reassess. It’s an insult to my religion of choice, my ethnicity, my sex, and my heritage.

I’m so tired of hearing that I’m the bane of the world’s existence and the cause of all the world’s problems. That’s the mantra of the left right now. So you be whoever you want to be, I don’t care. And for the record, you certainly don’t seem like a groomer to me. But I don’t want it promoted to kids who are too young to even know how they feel about anything at that point. And that agenda is being pushed, as evidenced by Rand’s numerous links. For you to deny that makes you, and all the deniers culpable. We have to take care of the innocent children, they can’t defend themselves.

I refuse to let people like you and the village idiot(Strum) make me feel bad about being a white Christian that happens to be from the south. F**k both of you!

Jesus Christ, Arch. Talk about missing the forest for the trees.

First of all, if you think that was grooming you have no idea what it is, which isn't surprising given you admit to believing half of what FOX news tells you.

Second, I'm not trying to make you feel bad for being a white, Christian male. You're not a bane to anyone simply because you exist. I'm pointing out that the views of GSD, nctransplant, and several on here are rooted in the old traditional power structure that once dominated this country. Especially in areas like the Deep South where that culture is traditionally based on a small, select few white men holding all the power and influence and everyone else is labeled unworthy and inferior- poor whites, free blacks, slaves, etc. It's obviously changed since then, but that legacy and influence still pervades to this day.

You want to know why I get ridiculed on here and mocked by some? It's not merely due to differing political opinions. It's because they believe I'm inferior same as prior groups that were also inferior before I came along. The world must operate according to a certain standard and anyone in violation of it must be put down at best and punished at worst.

So no, I don't want you to feel bad for being a white, Christian man. No one should. But don't make me feel bad for living as I am and don't you dare suggest being trans is dangerous to kids or people in general. The mere fact you don't even stop for one second to challenge those links or even question their validity tells me you're just as biased as you claim Strum and I are.

I’m beginning to think you’re as uninformed and close minded as @blazers, @prlyles , and @strummingram . I thought you were smarter. So I’ll make one more attempt. That Deep South culture that you speak of is for all practical purposes dead. I think you’ll find that most POC are treated better in the south than they are in the north.

Again, I don’t care if you identify as a man, a woman, or a giraffe. That’s your prerogative. And I won’t harass you or denigrate you, but I don’t have to believe that you’re a woman just because you’ve taken hormones or “had work done”. We just have to agree to disagree, and we can.

Lastly, I’ve never intimated in any way that Trans people are dangerous. But there is sufficient evidence that our kids are being used as pawns in a PC move by liberals to make victims of every single American. You can disregard the links that @randman1 posted because you don’t like him. But your claim to be open minded is leaking more air all the time.

ETA: I think we’ve beaten this issue to death. I’d like to suggest that we talk about more pressing issues like, well just about anything else. Maybe the economy, inflation, the border invasion, escalating crime, a government that refuses to curb spending, etc…

Did I suggest that the south is the same as antebellum slavery or Jim Crow? Of course not. But the traditionalist, hierarchal structure remains in other ways chiefly in education and in the economy. Things evolve and things also stay the same. I don't think you can say with absolute certainty POC are treated better in the south at all. Especially since I doubt you've ever stepped over the Mason-Dixon line a day in your life.

I agree, we've beat this topic to death. I only ask that you see this from my point of view and not get defensive for pointing out that trans people have been and sometimes still are subjected to abuse and ridicule because of the factors I mentioned before. I'm the one being belittled for who I am, not any of you. This is not about forcing you to do anything. Merely see me as a citizen of equal value, which you cannot do if you think I'm a mentally ill man in a dress. Do a little more digging on those 'links', Arch don't just accept them verbatim. I've read them. He cherry picks and sensationalizes. He misleads.

Sure, we can debate those things but then again are we going to get the usual bitching about 'Dems' and how they aren't held to the same standards, they're ruining everything, etc? Cuz that ain't my idea of a good time. Why don't we break things down in a different way. Every topic you mentioned has several layers to it.

If the shoe fits, pal. Fear isn't confined to life or death situations. Humans are always afraid of what they don't understand. You can say you're disgusted, sad, or confused. In reality, you can't wrap your head around the concept and feel as though something is being pushed on you. Hence the fear. Hence you tend to lash out at me a lot.
uh, no.

I don't understand why I can't talk to someone with a measurable IQ when I call with a cable problem; but I'm not afraid, I'm annoyed and irritated. I don't understand why salespeople occasionally push past the sign on my office door that says 'no solicitation' and then act indignant when I throw them out rudely...but I'm not afraid, I just have no patience for that sort of thing. There a gazillion similar sorts of things that I don't understand but that I'm not afraid of. One of the more prominent ones is that I don't understand why some people say that we don't understand something and that we are afraid of what we don't understand. I'm not afraid of that, I just find it idiotic...and that explains the lashing out.

There's no law saying you can't get your feelings hurt. I can't "make you feel" anything. If you feel bad about something I say, that's on you. I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings. Your reaction sure sounds like you feel bad about it. Otherwise, you wouldn't have any comment about it.

If you want to pretend that this country- its institutions, laws, and societal norms- was not built on a white, male protestant heirarchy, then you're choosing to ignore reality. It must not be as flattering as it used to be. That's progress.

ETA: Literally NO ONE is trying to encourage child abuse
translation...I can't make you feel anything. I can just tell myself that I made you feel something.

"If you want to pretend that this country- its institutions, laws, and societal norms- was not built on a white, male protestant heirarchy, then you're choosing to ignore reality."

what if I want to fully acknowledge that 'this country- its institutions, laws, and societal norms-' WAS built on a white male protestant hierarchy? So what? Would a female African hierarchy or an Asian warlord structure have been better as regards our condition now? Jesus Christ, stop the idiotically constant reference to the past and how it doesn't jive with what you believe in now.. Grow a fvcking brain. Those forebears instituted a government that was capable of allowing all of its citizens, over time, to be successful within a framework of more freedom than had ever been experienced, under any other government before. I feel pretty goddam lucky that those white males fashioned what they did and allowed me to participate, even though my background does not very well fit the mold that your brain is stuck on. I feel lucky that society has had the freedom to evolve into a more just one, but I regret that it has also had the freedom to devolve into one of near insanity, wherein you spend your misplaced energy on NOT whistling Dixie.

And if you want to bring up African-American descendants of slaves go right ahead. Compared to what they might have been born into, they are even luckier than me. But let's not tell them to take advantage of their good fortune. Tell them that they are still under the yoke, still victims of those white protestant males. Tell them they have no chance in this society that bears little resemblance to the one you insist on dwelling on, while non-white aliens galore are crashing the gates in the millions to get a small piece of this white male protestant tyranny.. Fool.

In reality, that whole line of thinking is not only antiquated but ridiculous. The Deep Southern idea that only certain people in this life get a share in the pie because 'that's the way things are' and everyone's on a hierarchal scale- white Christian men at the top and everybody else can f**k off. That is how he sees me.
you know it's funny that I read exactly the same words that you do but I don't take them the same pessimistic way that you do. But let's say I did interpret his words to be in opposition to what I am about. AWESOME. AMERICA! I celebrate his freedom to say what he wants to say, and my own freedom to do the same, even if we're throwing flames at each other.. I do not fall very well within this 'Deep Southern' bullshit that you and strummer are so hung up on, so as far as you know, he could be my polar opposite. WHO CARES?

That doesn't make me a victim because he can NOT MAKE me a victim. You know who can? I can, if I have the victim mentality and care to nurse it along. But I would rather be like him and flip him off and be done with it. What I wouldn't do is insist on time and again shoving my circumstances in his face expecting eventual acceptance.

And that is the whole point of what he is saying. You can not make him accept you other than as a citizen with the same rights that he has. He and everyone else here has readily accepted that you are what you are and have stated that they have no problem with it. You can not make him like you and you can not make him regard you any way other than the way he chooses to regard you. YOU CAN NOT INSIST THAT HE REGARDS YOU THE WAY YOU DESIRE TO BE REGARDED. That is not what our country is supposed to be about. It isn't supposed to be shaped by crybabies with hurt feelings throwing tantrums.

And it should go without saying you have no right to demand that he accommodate you and the changes in your life that you have decided to make.

I don't know what the topic is since i haven't been following along in this thread. Is the topic Deep South culture and you are asking for opinions?

Hard to tell what that culture would be these days, sadly the history points toward some open racism (as opposed to the more covert kinda which is pervasive everywhere) while recent events points towards alignment with gop. But if this wasn't the political thread one of the first things I think of regarding deep south culture is food and being open to small-talk with strangers.

Tucker rails against MSM has distorting the truth, yet he edits the parts showing that Kanye might be mentally disturbed from his "interview" with Kanye and only includes the parts pertinent to his agenda

"Carlson closed his segment on the Ye interview by declaring that the artist—whose erratic behavior has for years been at the center of discussions about mental health and how Black men with mental health issues are treated— is “not crazy” and “worth listening to.”

ummm, he's crazier than a bag of angel dust based on that edited footage that was unaired.

Also funny that Tucker edited out the mid-sentence part where Kanye says he's vaccinated... So much for Tucker being an "honest truth-seeker".

It's his opinion that Kanye isn't crazy. You can think he's crazy if you want and when you get a TV show, you can broadcast whatever opinion of Kanye you want.
After doing the interview, Tucker himself isn't mentally stable if he still has the opinion that Kanye isn't crazy.

He tells you that is his opinion - of course you are gullible enough to believe anything Tucker tells you, no matter how unlikely.

I think Ye is nuttier than a fruitcake. He desperately needs psychological help. Maybe we should refer him to Strum since he’s our resident psychologist.
Another deep, insightful well thought out post................
We can always count on the Squad to provide deep, insightful poasts. They’re idiots, but they’re our idiots.

The current administration lying to paint a misleading picture? I simply can't believe it.

"" Mayorkas did not make any mention of the new information from the photographer at the conference. He was asked about his initial remarks and said: "I made the statements without having seen the images."

" He was asked about his initial remarks and said: "I made the statements without having seen the images." "

but then....

" "I saw the images on the flight back, and I made the statement that I did with respect to what those images suggested," he said.

He was then asked about the discrepancy between the photographer’s claims about no whipping being witnessed and the president’s statement.

"The horses have long reins, and the image in the photograph that we all saw, and that horrified the nation, raised serious questions about what…occurred and as I stated quite clearly, it conjured up images of what has occurred in the past," he said. "

Funny, I don't remember being 'horrified'. But I must have been, I guess.

Clearly, this was just another 'top of mind' situation. Biden and Mayorkas had the welfare of these innocent illegals 'top of mind'. It wasn't political or anything, and they didn't mean to lie. It was a 'top of mind' situation.

It reminds one of AOC sobbing at the sight of an empty parking lot. Oh, the cruelty, You can't blame her, knowing that cars and trucks run all over that pavement and even park right on top of it. The thought of all that suffering is almost unbearable. Poor asphalt. But I digress.
