those faith-spreaders can try to make people aware of what they're pushing and I have no problem with it. But to push beyond that rankles me. If they end up in a caiman's belly I won't shed any crocodile tears. Pushing Christianity.,.the religion.....rather than just Christian principles regarding human interaction....over the centuries has fvcked up a ton of worthwhile stuff and replaced it with dogmatic crap.

Honestly, I’ve never understood why American missionaries do what they do in foreign lands. Do we not have enough Americans that need saving? Furthermore, I subscribe to Christian beliefs but I don’t really care if others do. I don’t like seeing Christianity demonized, which is the other side of this coin - there are those promoting it and there are those shitting on it. Neither is my preference. Believe what you believe and let others believe in whatever god they want or no god at all. But whatever you do, do it quietly.

I made my smartass comment to @carolinablue34 before I watched the Mahar clip. After watching it, I agree with much of it. I disagree with Bill's reluctance to cite the creeps, criminals and nogoodniks on the left so I feel he's kind of carrying water for them. There's just as much evidence to suggest plenty on the left are equally as bad as those he cites on the right. FFS, our President is one of them. But I'll push that all aside and largely agree with what he's saying. There are bigger battles to be won. If Herschel Walker beat his wife, that sucks for his wife. But if he can stop the liberals and their radical agenda, I guess I'd say, "at least he's not beating me." Because that radical agenda from the left would eventually be beating me. And if I need a vile, disgusting animal to keep the liberal boogieman away, you can bet I'll take it.
On a side note, is Bill moving more to the center or is the left moving further to the left. Don't answer that. I know the answer.
I think it's fair to ask the same question of John Fetterman of Pennsylvania if he's physically fit for office due to the stroke he suffered in May. Tribalism works both ways.
I think you're taking the wrong message here. Yes, the radical left shares blame in things becoming as divisive as they are now. But the solution isn't to nominate people like Herschel Walker or better yet Donald Trump as saviors in order to prevent the 'apocalypse' because there is no apocalypse. What Bill doesn't mention is the fear mongering or the sensationalism of a lot of these issues that originates from the far right as well. There's a lot of 'mean world' syndrome going on.
I don't know what other message there is to take from the clip you poasted.
Would I prefer better candidates? Yes. Will I support terrible people if it helps with my end goal? Also yes. No one considers them saviors. They are a means to an end, a temporary solution. You admittedly voted for Biden under the exact same premise. "He wasn't the other guy". Don't try to act like you're not exactly where I am.
This is the state of American politics. It is what it is. Wake me up when there's a chance of a 3rd party candidate winning and we'll revisit this discussion.

As far as Herschel Walker, he stood up to the BLM insanity, doing so as a black man and public figure, and for that he has my support all the way except I don't live and vote in GA. But what I saw from the man at that juncture of national insanity was impressive.
Well, he opposes abortion under any circumstance... except the abortion(s) he wanted, and paid, his partner to have when she was pregnant. So, take THAT, BLM!

if you happened to read my postings on Bill Maher, you know I agree with this post....mostly. As to the above, I think Maher is just trying to nudge the insanity out of the left so they can be more electable. I don't think he has any intention of moving toward the center, he wants the left in general to do so, in order that he can stop feeling like a fool for supporting the liberal agenda and its wokeness and all manner of other idiocy.
And that's why I call him a hypocrite. These rants of his usually point up valid points in favor of conservatism but he steadfastly insists on trashing it in the end. If he was honest, he would just say that the right is more representative of America in most respects and leave it at that. But like some on this board, libs could be sacrificing children in front of the Capital and he and they would refuse to stop rationalizing their support for the party behind it.
And he hit the nail on the head regarding candidates like Herscel Walker. We've both said it....if that's what it takes to derail or at least impede the slide into insanity that the left is constantly pushing, I have no qualms about endorsing or voting for it.
I have to admit, Maher's bit was pretty funny, as it usually is.
That I would vote "Guilty" in a court of law? No, absolutely not. That doesn't exist. There's no document that says "I _________ paid for an abortion for a woman I impregnated." But, I believe his son, and I believe the allegations 100%. And, that is based on Herschel Walker and his entire political presence and the contrast of his past. I'm not a self-proclaimed expert of human behavior, however. Everyone else is lying, not him, I guess.
It's political, so there's no cut-and-dry, objective truth.

On another note and regardless, Herschel Walker was far ahead of you, I suspect, when it came to BLM. It was always a scam; always a fraud; always Marxist in their own words, a movement paid for and implemented by others: hence "trained Marxists" comment, who wanted to destabilize the United States particularly via defunding the police and instigating mass increases in crime and violence.
So Walker seems a lot smarter and wiser and a better man than the likes of you and many others.
