OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Why should rural areas in red states (especially southern ones) be allowed to operate with impunity when it comes to education, abortion, LGBT rights, Voting Rights, etc.?

Better yet, ask yourself why a minority of rural voters should be allowed to get their President over the will of the non rural majority? That's profoundly anti-democratic. It doesn't make any sense and has absolutely nothing to do with 'states rights'.
what? Operate with impunity because they are allowed to stand on an equal footing? Being protected from the majority's will is 'getting their president'? If they are extremely lucky, they'll get their president, our systems weaknesses notwithstanding..

Your mind is too far gone to reason with, but let me make this last-ditch attempt to reach you.

ANTI-DEMOCRATIC IS THE POINT, YOU FVCKING NITWIT, and there's nothing 'profound' about it.. Do you know what the word democracy even means? Did you not pick up at all on me saying THANK GOD we are a republic form of democracy and not a pure democracy as you suggested?

I posted not that long ago about the simple reality that the name of the party you adhere to reveals your POV. Democrats are democratic. DUH. They tend to want the majority to make the rules for everyone because the word democrat speaks of majority. Republicans are for a republic, where the individual is democratically represented but there are protections in place for the individual AGAINST the majority in a pure democracy. Our politics is a constant see-saw battle between the two sides. The FF understood that a pure democracy was bad juju, and fashioned our system roughly after the Romans. Idiots have been trying to reinvent that wheel ever since, to the point that we are now running on square wheels. And you want to make them even more square?

"It doesn't make any sense and has absolutely nothing to do with 'states rights'."

None are so blind as they who will not see. It has everything to do with States having powers. AS I EXPLAINED, it's another layer of protection for the minority from the majority.

You want to know why the majority shouldn't rule? I can't believe I'm even having to explain this. The majority shouldn't rule because the majority would have the minority paying all the taxes and providing all the benefits. OH WAIT, that's the way it already is. We should make it even more so I guess. Yeah, that's the ticket. Jeebus crissmas, where do our education dollars go?.

I'm resigned to just breaking up the United States at this point. Let all the weirdo liberals have one country where they can cut their dicks off, let in all the illegals they want, teach whatever f*cked up, revisionist history in schools that they want, give handouts to deadbeats, outlaw guns, not produce anything, tax the few workers they'll end up having at 90%, send all the money they want to other countries and watch them fail. Then give the other half to normal people and watch that country thrive. It will be quite the social experiment.

I have posed such an experiment before. In a nutshell, divide the country and let all choose whether they want to go lib or go conservative. The con side would be a sink-or-swim kind of existence while the lib side would be your proverbial village where everything is done for everybody. In other words, the choice is of extremes.

After some period of time, the people are allowed to either stay where they are or move to the other side, but this time the choice is permanent.

As one might expect, roughly half initially go to either side. But after that initial period of say ten years, my money says that the lib sponges stay where they are while the sponges on the con side migrate to the lib side, and those having their lifeblood sucked out on the lib side will migrate to the con side faster than a Californian can move to Tejas or a yankee can move to Florida...

And it wouldn't be just about money. It would be more about living in a batshit crazy atmosphere or not. The lib side after the ten year switch would need to have a Trump wall built around it to keep the insanity in along with all the filth and depravity.

We will need a border wall, with a moat filled with alligators with lasers. Other than that, I'm all in.

My prediction is basically nothing will change about Twitter. The libs are freaking out for no reason and conservatives are excited for no reason.
I initially agreed with this, but after this weekend I'm not so sure. Firing that much staff, then having to re-hire? Not doing verification of identities... Now this?

I don't think these advertisers are "boycotting", rather being careful with their spend. Money talks, but this isn't going to be a green light for them to return.

also, what a dumb take.

It used to be a great take. Colin Cowherd used to talk about this on his ESPN radio show in the early 2000s. I used to root for gridlock before the left went unhinged. Because our government is best when it's handcuffed. The less that the government does, the better for the American people. So again, when Dems were wrong, but at least reasonably so, having them control one branch while the GOP controlled the other was a recipe for nothing. Nothing is good.

Back then you didn't have potential Secretary of States and govs threatening to institute minority rule, so Musk either isn't up on current events or something else is going on.

Agreed!
Funny you mention cowherd who will admit he is left on his viewpoints and is a Dem - but not a bat sht crazy Dem

He posted some interesting thing or said on his show: “I know why it is going to be a red wave on Tuesday. You can be on one side or another of many issues, and do Ok - but when you mess with people’s kids - IT LANDS DIFFERENT!”

That is this election if you want to boil it down to one line that will drive the swing with voters toward a red wave.

So many polls and anecdotes of pretty hard core Ds voting for Rs this time because of crime, economy, or Covid response and what has been done to kids (lockdowns, what is taught in schools, drugs up thru the border)

Me paraphrasing: Fk around (with the kids and their mama bear parents) and find out.

The “find out” part happens this Tuesday evening.

Would be interesting to see how many of our board libs (@blazers, @carolinablue34, @Heels Noir, @strummingram, @prlyles doesn't count because of his dementia) even have kids. I'm betting 25% tops.

You can thank VA Governor Glenn Youngkin for creating the roadmap regarding these issues. He's a budding superstar and will rightfully be in consideration as a VP pick in 2024 and a Presidential candidate in following elections.

100% agree... and expected full loyalty

He doesn't make mistakes. He's never made a mistake. So, he can't learn lessons. That's why he's so dangerous. When you have no humility, you lack the capacity to learn anything.

Aside from that, I'm actually amazed that you'd publicly denigrate the man as you have in your last two comments. He's showing more insecurity, and immaturity, by calling DeSantis "DeSanctimonious." DeSantis actually understands how our government operates. He's a governor, with experience as an executive. He's also a much more electable candidate, especially if you're a Republican.

That's because you don't understand Trump supporters. We support him because he supports us and our agenda, not the other way around. If he strays from an American First policy agenda, then Trump supporters will abandon him.

For example, not too long ago the Trump crowd booed him when he bragged about the vaccines.

However, we recognize almost the entire American institutional elite and certainly the Deep State and DC gangs are against putting America and Americans first, and so Trump supporters are very loyal. They want someone that will stand up and fight for them.

That's why they love De Santis as well.

I don't think Trump supporters understand themselves. They create a reality to fit their world view every time, all the time.

But, you make a good point about Trump supporters booing him when he mentions vaccines. They've grown beyond his control. He exploited the agenda better than anyone ever could. Fortunately, he knows how to pander to them better than anyone else. And, he is the MAGA brand leader. DeSantis doesn't stand a chance against him, if Trump doesn't want him to be his successor. It will be interesting to see if a struggle between right-wing media (and its backers) and Trump himself, for their allegiance, occurs.

I just hope I can be around when you can’t be around.
Wherever I go, there you are.

I like the implication that the woman in the "skit" wasn't really in denial, she was a paid plant in the "skit" to give the appearance that Trump supporters would deny that the US Capitol was violently attacked by other Trump supporters.

Look at you! Way to go. You did a good job of putting that together even though a retarded chimp could have probably inferred that from my poast.

Biden is campaigning in New York and Maryland. When Democrats have to campaign in states that are allegedly democrat strongholds, you know they're fvcked in swing states.
Trump is in repub stronghold Ohio though. So what do you make of that?

People calling for massive red waves are just setting up their internal dread so they can shout "denial".

Someone on here said Kari Lake +5... that person is going to bark about mass fraud and chinese voting machines.

I don't know that Ohio is a Republican stronghold. It's certainly not like NY and MD being Democrat strongholds. Ohio is a swing state. I think that's universally understood. If Trump were here in SC, I would agree. NY going with a Republican governor is pretty harsh.

If MAGAs don't win, they are going to scream "fraud" and "rigged" from now on. That's a permanent fixture. Nothing will be "proof" of a loss for them. It's just a matter of how they react to the swearing-in and inaugurations, etc.. DO they storm state capitol buildings? Do they act-out violently in other ways? Who knows? The only time the election will be valid is if they win.

I think, at least in this mid-term, they will be pleased because I think most MAGA candidates will win. That of course makes stealing the next one much easier than 2020.

Whats is the GOP plan regarding the global inflation problem which is the prime problem impacting our economy - unemployment certainly isn't a prob?

Not concerned with inflation anywhere else. There was a time when the world looked to us as leaders. *sigh*

Yeah, it's easy to get unemployment down when people stop looking for jobs and just check the mail for stimulus/relief checks.
