OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Not concerned with inflation anywhere else. There was a time when the world looked to us as leaders. *sigh*

Yeah, it's easy to get unemployment down when people stop looking for jobs and just check the mail for stimulus/relief checks.
umm the inflation problem in the US is largely occurring due to global (supply) issues. Are brits blaming Hunter and Joe Biden for their inflation?

There isn't more that much more crime overall, fox just talks about it more:

Tulsa, Oklahoma’s second largest city, also has a higher crime rate than New York City, and also has a Republican mayor and a law-and-order DA.

It isn't just cities.

Dude, pay attention. Murders in all (blue) cities are way over where they have been in years. Are you trolling?

I remember in the 90s the trend of organized smash and grabs at retail stores. Wait,...no I don't.
Murders went up everywhere, not just cities (not just blue-voting places) beginning in 2020 (ahem pandemic) but have dropped. Other violent crime hasn't gone up - basically most crime hasn't really gone up if you exclude homicide which is happening regardless of elected officials.

lol. You can't be serious.

What does Tulsa have to do with anything. Regardless of where it's happening (and don't be a dolt, blue cities are experiencing unprecedented crime), the liberals are the ones that have created the national rhetoric that if you commit a crime, it probably wasn't your fault. It was some kind of oppression that made it happen.

Moron.

Again, the liberals have demonized law enforcement and celebrated criminal activity. Everywhere. Of course it's worse in blue led areas though.

So-called conservatives refuse to accept the "chosen reality" of trans people. They say that trans peoples' own perceptions are not objective reality...

but, when it comes to elections being legitimate, they have their own issues with accepting objective truth:

I queued it right to the point... only a few seconds worth.

However, this also creates a conundrum for so-called liberals because... now, THEY have to admit that objective reality is also up-for-grabs. I realize the two issues aren't entirely the same, but... they're mocking the MAGAs in this clip. "Whether it's true or not, their perception is their reality."

I don't have any issue with a person, or people, who feel their gender/sex is different, or whatever. Frankly, I don't give a shit if people refuse to believe that election equipment can be trusted. But, I do enjoy when people flip the scripts and act like it's okay when they do it and not when others do it.

Oh... and big props for "Mark Kampf" and "Earl Harbor" and "Holly Caust"... that was hilarious. I laughed so damned hard.

lol. That's false.
I mean - it’s not like the police reports stats are off the charts with crime increases or anything. Damn lying facts! more dead, hurt people, stolen and vandalized property. These things are almost impossible to tangibly measure.

Yes the victim’s fault or the de facto racist cop’s fault. Regardless of the cop’s race - he/ she is racist. I thought we were supposed to just broadly accept this as irrefutable fact. Defund the police! Is a basic democratic principle.

LOL. Yes! I’m in. I’m trans-American. I identify as someone who still has Trump as President. I love it. Respect me for who I am. I’m just trying to live my authentic self. And most of all, kneel before me and denounce your Regular privilege and confess your anti-trans-American feelings. C’mon, who’s with me? Decide now if you are an ally or you are the oppressor!

That's cool. But, don't expect the rest of us to enable your mental disorder.
But I can find doctors who will validate this is not a mental disorder and that Americanism isn’t binary and that all of us are on the trans-Americanism spectrum.

Now bow down and respect me (and President Trump).

Well, let's start with crime committed by illegals.

Well let's start with you being a gullible dipshit. Illegals account for tiny % of the population. So a big jump in crime by illegals is still a drop on the overall bucket.

Your article:
Sixty homicide or manslaughter convictions were attributed to illegal immigrants in 2021

60! Drop in the bucket %-wise, find something more fearful.

Or another way of putting it, “a 400% increase”.

But you said it wasn’t any worse …and you’re so smart…how can that be?

Blatant voter suppression also makes people want to vote against Repubs.
This stuff, plus climate impacts, plus abortion, plus mass-shootings make D's vote, but horrible candidates, threats against soc security,
and Trump throwing his hat in the ring is going to make never-trump-conservates vote blue again.

60! 60??? That big???

In other words, about 3 to 5 times the number of unarmed black men shot and killed by police each year (depending on the year of data you grab). Based upon the country wide "protests", looting, insurrections, rioting, etc. that took place over that issue, we should have a constant, daily and wide spread outrage over this "Drop in the bucket" you speak of. Talk about hypocritical fear mongering.

The truth is, any murder is horrible, regardless of circumstances or specifics. And you can manipulate data and look at it anyway you want to advance an agenda. If you honestly believe that crime has not increased and our cities are not substantially more unsafe than they were just a few years ago, message board posting isn't going to convince you otherwise.

Shit like this pisses people off, makes them want to against repubs
Shit like this pisses off yellow dog democrats (you) and that's all. Votes shouldn't be counted until polls close because there would surely be "leaks" that would impact and influence the elections and voting turnout. They can't keep the "unnamed sources" out of anything - the first leak EVER happened in SCOTUS this year about Dobbs - what makes you think this information would remain confidential? The media manipulates everything else to fit their narrative, you really think they wouldn't report "votes" (correctly or made up) if they were allowed to be counted???

Asking someone to follow a procedure and setting it aside when they don't is not voter suppression. When's the last time you went into a store and bought something at a sale price that ended a week before? Following the rules on things, particularly something as important as one's vote, isn't optional. This line of thinking is a big part of our problem in our society. I'm busy today, do you think they'll let me show up next Tuesday to cast my vote?

So why are these MAGA types already claiming fraud or cheating when the people at the polls are just doing their jobs?

This is why it's dangerous to spread the narrative that the only result you can trust is the one you win.

Well, I don't know if you are referring to the actual video or in general with your question. The bottom line is that there really is no reason that votes can't be counted promptly and counted without significant interruption. Her point was that if 4 mil votes are cast and 3.5 of them are counted by midnight (4 hour period assuming counting started at close of polls at 8), it does look suspicious when it takes hours and hours to count the remaining 0.5. And, we shouldn't pretend or act like this is all "MAGA types". Election losers tend to fall into the camp of complainers. As to why it's already happening, it would depend on the specific location to be explained as each can be unique. Look at that horrible, backwoods, Jim Crow 2.0 state of Georgia, you know the one with all that voter suppression, the one that's had record early voting.

That’s her perception, not reality. The process is working normally and it’s up to candidates and leaders not to add further fire to that rhetoric.

I can't disagree with that, but all sides and candidates should be interested in making the "process" as fair and efficient as possible. The problem is that you can't have it both ways. There should be one person, one vote. So, things like asking for an ID to show you are who you claim you are prior to voting, our absolute most important civic duty, should not be that hard. If it's a matter of cost, there are solutions to that. But don't act like candidates and leaders haven't paraded around claiming asking for an ID is the most blatant voter suppressive act one could do. You can't have it both ways. If you are gonna ask "candidates and leaders not to add further fire to that rhetoric", you can't limit the topic. Rhetoric is either okay or it's not. That's why it's called rhetoric.
