OOTB's Political Thread . ..

I thought of this movie (Goodfellas) instantly when discussing ratting.
Henry Hill (as a kid in this picture here) - as an adult (Ray Liotta) - did need to rat and go witness protection, because he was going to get whacked on the outside by the mob people he crossed. Doing his own, sloppy and careless drug deals.

[Interesting side tidbit about Goodfellas and Henry Hill. SportsCenter did a 30 for 30 on Henry Hill and his college basketball game-fixing involving Boston College]. But it looks like Henry was involved in many crime schemes.

I don't see Cohen's ratting out Trump costing him in prison. Wouldn't Cohen go to some white collar, minimum security prison? (not a "pound me in the a__" prison ala Office Space) ?

if there is a god, this will get much much play...wonder how fox will spin it?
I honestly don't think he believes him. He's not going to call him a liar when he's right next to him. No president would. The problem is Trump doesn't know how to spin these questions so he just shoots from the hip and says what they want to hear. Other presidents would have said something like "what happened to him was a horrible tragedy. I can't imagine the pain his family went through and are still going through to this day. We're going to work together to make sure something like this never happens again, because no one wins in a situation like this." That's the way he should have answered it and that's the way other presidents would have.

He should have never been there in the first place. He should never give effusive praise to Un. Some of the stuff he’s said is troubling.

You really like that guy.

I think he is a leader in the Conservative party. Don’t always agree with him, but he comes at things with a sensible approach. Very intelligent.

I don't think he should have been there without something concrete on the table beforehand. That being said, I don't think this is going to bring on the end of the world. It's getting a little blown out of proportion.

So he's just some popular guy that you think is smart and cool. Sound like an expert to me.

I think Shapiro is about as close as you can get to a principled conservative, classical liberal, defender of American interests, pol party agnostic as you can find in media today...
... and what I like best is he doesn't roll over, go into some fetal position with some wishy-washy placating language, whenever what he wants to say is going to offend some PC, entitled, out-of-touch-with-real-world college snowflakes.

In Trump's defense, libs are acting like this is the first time we've defended a really really bad dude.

Hell, we gave Mohammad Reza asylum and that guy was awful...the result of that great decision was 52 Americans held hostage.

Shapiro would be a lot more likable if he didn’t straw man everyone he disagrees with. That shit drives me crazy. Not every liberal is a radical SJW like he seems to think. And his views on religion and morality are antiquated and silly.

Maybe you should take the time to educate yourself about Shapiro instead of nip at my heels.

I know we get in bed with bad guys, it’s business. But my deal with Trump is the effusive praise for this loon. And we get nothing out of it.

You guys know how every year in Nov, Dec and early January, people are bitching about how Roy sucks because of this, that or the other? Yet every year, there we are, right where we should be when crunch time rolls around.

That's how I view Trump. Just like I no longer question Roy's methods because he delivers, I also don't question Trump for the same reason.

Never trust a politician. Also, not really sure what he has accomplished as far as foreign policy. Pulling out of Syria maybe? Still, there's no reason to assume he will deliver.

Trump has 3 championships? What is the political equivalent to a championship?

Whatever it is, he certainly doesn't have 3 of them.

Just off the top of my head:

New trade deal with the Messicans
China renegotiating existing trade deals
ISIS gone
Greater stability in Iraq and Afghanistan
Freeloading Euros finally paying their own way
Venezuela about to flush the commies
Little Fat Man no longer flipping missiles over the top of Japan or even testing on his own peeps

Where has he failed?

I would say winning the primary counts as one and winning the election counts as 2, especially with the smack down he put on @prlyles's girl

Thank God for Donald Trump. He has made the country the shining light on the hill. He has truly done what I expected and more.
