UNC getting involved in the impeachment process. Michael Gerhardt, a UNC law school professor, is testifying as a constitutional law expert today.

I read his opening statement. He thinks the inquiry is legit and that impeachment would be justified, but stops short of saying he should be removed. I think he makes some good comparisons, but his conclusions are what is debatable. Obviously dems will agree with his conclusions and repubs will disagree. I think independents will mostly agree, but have some doubt about certain aspects.

I’m pretty sure he got banned so I think that would qualify as being ran off. Whether or not he deserved it is a separate discussion that’s not worth having, but as far as I know he didn’t leave voluntarily.
He was banned, but that was because of his own actions. One of those actions being that he ran people off of the board. Other reasons were due to his conduct on the board and behind the scenes things that happened. Billy has no one to blame but himself.
My fb and twitter pages are full of outraged evangelicals who support a president that cheated on his pregnant wife with a porn star and bragged of sexually assaulting women yet are refusing to watch the hallmark channel cause of a same sex marriage scene in a commercial.

I have a Facebook profile, but I probably haven't posted anything in two or three years. The only time I even look at it is if someone tags me in something. My life improved once I stopped messing with Facebook. It helps with your mental health.

The Kirksville Express reports:
A Truman State University professor and elder with the Kirksville Church of Christ is facing a misdemeanor prostitution charge amid allegations he sought sexual favors from male college students. Barry Cole Poyner, 57, of Kirksville, has been charged with a class B misdemeanor count of patronizing prostitution.
Documents state the Truman State University Police Department received a tip that Poyner has been “harassing male Truman students for sexual contact as well as offering to pay for items for sexual favors by using the app Grindr.”
The Kirksville Police Department set up an undercover profile and was soon contacted by a user that went by the handle, “DILF.” “DILF” told the undercover officer that he “would love to have a sugar daddy relationship” and that in previous relationships he provided gift cards, clothing and money to his partners.
Over at The Friendly Atheist, Hemant Mehta notes that Poyner’s church rants against homosexuality on its Facebook page and posts memes about how we’re all going to burn in hell for eternity. His name has mysteriously vanished from their website.

Yeah, my social media presence is very small. I have a personal twitter account that has maybe 2-3 tweets and an Instagram account that has zero post. The only time I even get on twitter is through the OOTB twitter account and that's just to look at UNC sports related stuff.
I have some funny fb friends. I especially enjoy the “cb heathens” (cb-carolina beach) page which is like ootb except NOTHING is off limits and if u complain about a post...you’re banned.

Whether a person thinks Orange Man Bad (OMB) or Orange Man Good (OMG).... only the dumbest of the dumb fail to realize how hard impeachment of OM is going to screw over the Dems come November.
Pelosi knows it. Schumer knows it. Many new Dems in the House in districts where OM won in '16 know it - and will look for a reprieve to vote against impeachment.
I suppose some like The Squad don't get it - hence the dumbest of the dumb characterization above. You'd think the leadership could teach them how to read polls - ie the fact that impeachment polling is tanking bigly in literally every swing state.
But in another way - the Ds have to go through with impeachment or lose the left wing of their voter base. The D party leadership probably also isn't too confident in any of their current presidential front runners' ability to beat OM head-to-head in November. They don't have a lot of great options at this point.
The list of reasons why Trump* won't be reelected has grown so long it has become impossible to narrow it down to a precise cause, but bending over for Erdogan like he has done for Kim Jong-un and Putin won't help Trump's* cause.
Maybe one day when you grow up you'll realize that the people who decide elections, the independent voters, care more about the economy than foreign policy. Your best bet is to hope for a recession or stock market crash. Other than that, there is very little that will keep Trump from winning.
When and if the economy dips you can add that to the list since it apparently will be Trump's fault.
It won't be Trump's fault, but I don't give him credit for the current state of the economy either. The president's power is vastly overstated.
It's very fitting that Pelosi et al knew that pushing for impeachment would get them nowhere, and alienate voters - and they were still pushed into doing it by their own party!

I tend to obviously think his base and the Dem base that hates him isn't going anywhere. However, educated whites (a group that he did better with than anyone expected) may be swayed by this...but maybe not.
As we argued a few weeks back, educated whites care about the economy first, second, and last. If it's still good - I tend to think he gets reelected, and relatively easily again in the EC.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I would say that it's not just necessarily educated whites overall, it's educated whites in the swing states. That makes a big difference. Another thing that will hurt the dems is the person that gets the nomination. They are all bad choices.
I was sort of the opposite. I haven't been sold on him winning again in 2020 - until the impeachment hearings. They seem to have swayed public opinion in his favor, which makes me think he now is a lock for 2020.
The election is almost a full year away and Michael Bloomberg is just beginning to dig his heels in.
Here are the facts, a bit understated: Bloomberg is a better businessman than Trump* could ever hope to be. He is more successful and has more honesty and integrity than Trump*. His fortune was earned, not handed to him by his old man and grandmother. He is also a legitimate politician and leader of people unlike the ranting douchebag that Donald Trump* has become since taking office.

while i agree with the case, i think it’s dumb of the dems to do this...should’ve waited until november...trump will use this again as us vs them and it could result in a bigger ass whipping than in 2016.
Yeah to them, they decided that they'd rather have the stain on his record and take the chance that this just unites the Republican party to a landslide in 2020. To them, it's personal with Trump.
Maybe they realize all their 2020 candidates suck and won't win anyway so this is their "win" against Trump. Actually nah, they're not that smart.
