OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Yep, Portugal and Netherlands have roughly the population of NYC and they still whoop our asses every World Cup.

Can't get your ass whooped at the World Cup if you don't even qualify.

2010 was a hell of a run until we choked it away against Belgium. At least we have this national treasure of a woman...

LMAO - move along, nothing to see here. Today's version of The Daily Biden Gaffe series will tend to leave a mark. He barely comes out of his basement, but every time he speaks, he looks like or says something seeming senile, out-of-it.

Not sure, but I sense this remark is not going to play well with independent, free thinking black voters. Basically, Biden is saying "I (the Democrat party) own you as a black voter." (and if you even consider not voting for me or the Dems, you're not a real black. Wow! racist, slave-owner take. If you go back and listen to more of the guy (Charlemagne - a black talk radio host in NYC) all he was asking for, is that Biden actually explain and answer, what Biden's admin is going to actually deliver for the black communities, if he is elected. Seems like a 100% legit ask. But for Biden, I guess the only response is, "Look, black.... STFU and vote for me, or you aint' really black!"

Some pretty big, apolitical names in black society are out to rake Joe for his taking all the black voters for granted. Diddy, etc

How many staffers does the Biden campaign need just to do damage control, spin, cleanup? They'd be better off just putting a gag order on Biden. Seriously he seems to do better in the polls when Joe is not seen or heard from. DJT has enough daily gaffes and hyperboles and unfounded braggadocio on his own, to make a concept of an (unseen and unheard) Biden preferable.

I don't really want to vote for Trump because personally I think he's a petty little spoiled dude that can't handle an ounce of criticism and can't admit when he's wrong. I think he's crass, profane and diminishes the office with his antics at times.

I also try to realize he's not a career politician and hasn't been groomed and polished to be. He got pissed off, threw his hat in the ring and somehow the message he brought resonated with enough of us to win.

I can't support the Democrats political agenda and I simply will not sit it out. I honestly don't think Joe Biden can pull enough votes to his side or generate enough excitement among the non-comitted to defeat the President.

right there with ya

You basically summed up my thoughts on Trump.

And despite what some on here are saying, I’m not thrilled with Biden either. In fact a good friend of mine who has a verified IQ of 140 believes he has all the signs of early onset dementia. So yeah, we have two 70+ year olds who don’t exactly have their shit together once again.

To me, what bothers me most about Trump is that his flaws go beyond personal vices. He’s breaking norms that shouldn’t be broken and his rhetoric divides people worse than Obama, Bush, and Clinton combined.

Raising Heel summed it up well months ago but he’s not here right now and I don’t feel like digging through the archives right now.

What "norms" are you referring to that shouldn't be broken?

Trump does seem to stir-up division. But, I'm not convinced that it's more or less than what the previous 3 or 4 presidents managed to bring for their respective times in office. Seems like America WANTS to be divided- socially, politically, you name it.

of course you'll conclude that I'm a Trump fanboy for saying this but this is straight up bullshit...and I'm saying it for no reason other than that it's true. Obama was easily the most divisive President of those you mentioned, even as much or moreso than Bush's invasion of Iraq; and Trump's mostly innocuous garbage-talking pales in its effect on the country compared to Obama's shoot-from-the-hip racial pot-stirring. As is normal, Trump, as a conservative, is having a negative reputation created and imposed on him by those who oppose him.....similar to when Bush was painted as practically conjuring up Hurricane Katrina out of supposed hate/disregard for black people. The left's propensity for twisting words and actions into fantastical, disgusting character assassination is legend. ONE example, is when Trump was painted as a rank racist because he didn't condemn white supremacists AGAIN, while some of them were exercising their American privileges in assembling peaceably and lawfully. He was painted as racist, in effect, for not criticizing our American way. That's the left for you.

This being said, please provide examples of norms that Trump is breaking that shouldn't be broken, and explain why they shouldn't be, as well as how that negatively affects those with a normal ability to reason.

Lots of people complaining about Trump playing golf during the pandemic but I think its great. Keep him on the golf course and away from press conferences, so the adults in the room can try to make some progress while he isn't around.

Firing career inspector generals, encouraging a reporter to be physically assaulted, not releasing his tax returns, openly contradicting experts in their fields, attacking the head of the Supreme Court, promoting baseless conspiracy theories, etc.

I don’t truly believe he cares about anything except what’s expedient for him in a given moment. He’s the Dunning-Kruger effect personified.

the 'etc.' is the most cogent part of your weak reply, and your last sentence applies more to you than it does toTrump.

I can watch this, and it never gets old!

I love it when average voters get spoofed and show how ignorant the population really is.

He's done a lot of unprecedented things, for sure. He's shown a totally unscripted, unconventional public persona. He's an asshole, and he revels in that. I realize "asshole" is indistinct and an easy external target.

I think Lincoln actually "attacked" the head of the Supreme Court before Trump.

I don't have a problem with people who question experts. Experts should be questioned. I would hope that experts would encourage others to question them. It helps validate their expertise. Now, you said contradicts them... I guess that is different. The president is kind of a public relations manager. Trump sucks at keeping people calm.

I don't care about people's tax returns at all. I truly don't. The 16th Amendment should be repealed.

I'm not sure which "baseless conspiracy theory" he promotes, specifically. But, I don't doubt that he would do that, openly and often, if it helped to deflect from his own culpability to something that was considered to be, or perceived as being, detrimental to the public. Not all conspiracy theories are baseless. I've said before that, the only thing worse than believing everything is a conspiracy, is believing nothing is a conspiracy. Conspiracy "theory" is a term that was coined by the FBI (or CIA, or both) to try and create subterfuge for their own crimes. It's meant to make the general public cast doubt on anyone who questions the "official story." Pick your poison, I guess.

He’s definitely the Dunning-Kruger effect personified.

I tend to agree, or should I disagree? Either way, I fully concur.

It’s time to pull the plug on Biden. At this point I can’t tell if the DNC is just ridiculously corrupt, asleep at the wheel, or both.

For me, they should’ve pulled the plug awhile ago. He’s clearly not all there, and the “you’re not really black” comment clearly proves it.
The DNC is not giving us any options. They've been unbelievably lazy and derelict. They fumbled in 2016 by forcing a candidate nobody wanted on their constituents, pretty much giving them the middle finger. It's obvious to most why Trump won the first time and it's going to be more of the same. Trump will win the battle of turds every time. He's the biggest turd in the bowl.

This pretty much perfectly summarizes my thoughts on the subject.

You think that all of the black people that supposedly voted for him in the primaries are going to renege on that vote because of that comment? I mean, that condescending "brother" accent he was using with Charlemagne on The Breakfast Club radio show was pretty bad. But, he was pretty lucid in the broadcast.

Primary turnout is incredibly low compared to the general election. And the people who show up are generally the more hardcore supporters of their particular candidate. I would imagine that the people who voted for him are unlikely to be swayed. But that's not a good indicator of electability because he's going to have to win over a lot more people who didn't vote for him in the primary.

He wasn't a good candidate when he ran for president the first two times, and he isn't a good candidate now. The DNC strategy really is going to be as simple as fixating on him being Obama's VP. They're going to try to ride Obama's coattails into the WH.

I agree... he's a terrible candidate!

I hope this is just a bad joke and you didn't waste your time finding an article because the joke went over your head. Neither one would surprise me though.
Moron's Guide to Internet Posting
Step 1: Post an idiotic message board comment.
Step 2: When fellow posters point out your error, retaliate by claiming it was a bad joke that went over their heads.
Step 3: Despite looking like a moron, continue posting since that's what morons do.

Google "Wright Brothers religion" and watch as the article I cited appears at the very top of the list. Elapsed time: five seconds. Not a waste of time at all for another opportunity to spit in your eye.

Solid post. The problem is I had already said it was a joke a long time ago. The guy who I was responding to, @heelmanwilm, recognized the joke which is why he liked the post. So, not only did you miss the original joke. You also missed the earlier post.

If I were you I would just bow out now instead of embarrassing yourself even more.

I missed nothing. I saw where uncboy10 mocked your stupidity about the invention of the wheel, which appeared more than 3000 years before Christianity, and I saw where you tried to turn the tables on him per step two from the Moron's Guide to Internet Posting. I'm guilty of piling on with the Wright Brothers and predictably enough, you did it again. Nice work, numnuts.

The word is “numbnuts”, you knucklehead.
You don't have to tell me how to spell the word, poopslinger. I've used it here more times than I care to remember, mostly directed at you and your ilk. But since I have limited time on my hands today, I'm going with the abbreviated version.

Always enjoyable talking with you because you always embarrass yourself, which means I don't have to do much work.
