OOTB's Political Thread . ..

he’s drunk on power at this point. No chance at all with his ego.

I’ll make this prediction. If he loses, he and his sheep will claim voter fraud and challenge the election and it will be the ultimate sore loser shyt show before he leaves office.

Yeah - I think he's going to stretch the limits of "peaceful transition of power" to the extremes.

We've already discussed how most polling with him is inaccurate, but man, if it is accurate he's in big trouble. No incumbent has ever defeated a challenger polling above 50% by July 4th (Biden's at 53%). He's down in most swing states and polls show Georgia and Texas are real toss ups.

Now, how much will change by November and how off are these polls? I'd guess "a lot" on both questions.

which candidate will benefit most from the largest segment of the electorate ever saying “wtf you have got to be kidding me, I have to choose between these two?!”?

In that case, historically, it's been the guy not in office already.

Most people will take the unknown "I think he'll be shitty" over the proven "he's shitty."

Carter over Ford, Harrison over VanB are the two that come to mind.

But you're talking about a very small segment of the voting population. Neither Ford or MVB had the following of Trump. Trump is unlike any President in the past. Because what Trump said was true - he could literally shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and he won't lose any of his supporters because of it. And on the flip side, he could literally cure cancer and the people that hate him, will continue to hate him. That's never really been the case before. So you're looking at the small independent vote (and really only in a few states). Will those few Independents in those select states prefer the shitty unknown to current shittiness? That's the question. Trump is immune to any previous trend.

Yeah, I think that point is fair but you're only talking about his base.

I do tend to think he can't just get his base and win an election, his base isn't 62 million voters. He won a ton of votes from people who hated Hillary, the Clintons, Obama and didn't necessarily love Trump. Right now, I think he has a tough time getting those votes again in November. Will Biden screw up at some point? Probably. A lot can happen from now until then but I do think he's lost quite a few of that 62 million. Is it 1 million or 5 million and where is he losing them? That will probably decide the election.

I disagree.

I don't care about the statues that are built to honor people/individuals in some historical way. I have no stake in them. They've never meant anything to me. They neither offend or inspire me. Statues are usually kind of creepy, archaic and unnecessary. I don't care if they keep them, and I don't care if they remove them.

I have a tradition with the Washington Redskins. I have a vested interest in it. And, whoever "they" are, then THEIR understanding of the context is incorrect, if they're choosing to be offended by it. It's a universal context. The intent is clear. There's no disrespect or attempt to belittle or shame anyone. It's the exact opposite. That's why I used the example of actual Navajos using Redskins as their own nickname and mascot with the Red Mesa High School. And, they're not the only ones. I don't consider Redskin(s) to be a slur. Whenever I hear, or read, "Redskins", I immediately think of the NFL Football team.

I read that they might change it to Warriors... to me, it's the same thing! Warriors, Scouts, Redskins, Chiefs, Indians, Illini, Redmen, Orangemen, Seminoles, Blackhawks, whatever. They are all the same to me.
Ok, I think I understand now. Since YOU (as a white man) say the Indians who are offended by it are wrong, then they should keep it.
Only YOUR opinion, as a white man, counts because Indians (other than the three you talked to) just don't understand. They should do what you tell them to. Makes perfect sense. After all, who better to tell someone why something isn't racist than a white guy.

This is pretty funny. You could absolutely do this to the other side as well and I hope they do.

My skin color and ethnicity has nothing to do with it.

The situation we have threatens to boil over into authoritarianism no matter what happens. Trump, if he loses, might very well not concede power and it will give the far lefties more excuses to exact Marxist Revolution if he's removed by force. If he keeps it, well same scenario except ideologically the opposite result.

So you’re willing to have him suspend rights, privileges and declare martial law just so he can stay in power? Is that what this is coming to?

This stuff amazes me. I remember the same kinds of things being said by people about Obama.

I do too. But I would ask you if Obama was ever a serious threat to break the constitution and run for a third term? I don’t mean that question as a ringing endorsement of him in fact I don’t believe him to be a great president. But if Trump is willing to break all norms and barriers I don’t see why an election should stop him from trying to do so yet again.

it amazes me that people can witness, without blinking an eye, the massively constructed lie that was fed to the American people by obama and company so that he could have obamacare as his legacy, and then take casual exaggerations by Trump to mean that he is poised to declare martial law and maybe set himself up as a dictator, if he happens to lose. Half the people in this country are certifiably looney...if you can say sheep are looney.

And that isn't even to mention that there was actual, serious talk of obama going Roosevelt on us.

Translation: I have no credible source for this statement, I just made it.

Cool cool. Enjoy your day.
actual translation; I don't jump through hoops for clueless socialist dweebs who claim to be conservative. They can remain ignorant for all I care, because nothing I say or report will make them less liberal.

Do all of you people lie like this?

Yeah if you actually believe that, safe to say you’re the lunatic here.

I have no doubt you think that. Most people who are racist/prejudice towards a group of people think the same thing.
Well... my actions, behavior and preferences toward their culture is a pretty weird way of being prejudiced toward them.

Funny, that's not the sentiment you've expressed when you've attacked others here.

I like much of the black culture. My actions, behavior and preferences toward some parts of the black culture is nothing but positive. But because I've been against the tearing down of confederate statues - when you stated that you were in favor of it - you've insinuated that I'm racist.
If I "insinuated" it, then I was wrong... assuming I insinuated it.

Doesn't make you racist, but the history behind these statues is really shitty.

Most of these statues were erected between 1900 - 1920 when Jim Crow laws were wrecking freaking havoc in the south and the south wanted to reassert their dominance over blacks. The UDC (who funded most of these statues) were horrible, horrible people. They defended slavery, they praised the KKK, and got super butt hurt when blacks came back from fighting in WW1 and wanted Jim Crow laws removed.

Defending this is really something you want to be on the side of?

wreaking. Wreaking havoc. Wrecking havoc would be doing away with havoc. Or did you mean to say that Jim Crow laws were doing away with havoc, you freaking racist you?

You that worked up over autocorrect? Everyone on here calling you a lunatic may just be on to something.

Telling them they don't know what they are talking about and you thinking you know their history better than they do is a great way to show your preference. But you know three Indians, which is much better than those people who claim they aren't racist because they have a black friend.
