OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Yeah and Bush in the 12-18 months post 9/11 had insane approval ratings.

Always made me think how different it would have been with Al Gore who probably would have been hiding under a desk. We needed that Texas "don't f with us" attitude after 9/11.
I took a retired 2 star Air Force General bird hunting this weekend. We talked a little about the present and past presidents. Let's say he was not at all a fan of Obama. In fact, Obama, and both Bush's wrote him retirement letters(which is customary), he had the Bush's letters read at his retirement ceremony but not Obama's. Was pretty cool listening to what he had to say. There were several things he couldn't talk about. He was not a big fan of the Iraqi wars but he did say there was a lot of stuff going on over there that we don't know about and we are so much better fighting them there than here. He, like many of us, is no fan of Trump's twitter habits but is a fan of his policies and attitude toward the military.

IMO, for Democrats to consider the mid-terms a success, they would need to take control of both the House and Senate.

I disagree, if, the Dems take the house that's all they need to stop the Trump train in it's tracks, subpoena power will check the Dotard's freedom of having a Congress protecting his lazy, racist & fat ass. We'll finally find out what is in his tax returns, along with numerous other investigations into his administration.

The geography for taking over the senate is an uphill battle here in '18, there's little or no chance of that happening. Though, I would like to see the good guys take Florida in the senate and gubernatorial races, as well as the gubernatorial races in Wisconsin, Iowa, Nevada & Georgia.

Oh, and btw, for those that need their coffee, we got ya covered there too :

I can go along with this. I also would like to see some kind of work agreement(for those able) to receive gov't aid.

A work program would be great. With regards to the homeless and vets, the vast majority of them have mental illnesses. They’re going to need assistance as well as some psychiatric treatment before they’re capable of holding down a steady job.

One trend we see from homeless people that get helped out of the hole, is that a lot of them turn around and give back to the programs that helped them. Quite a lot of people who work in homeless shelters have a history of homelessness themselves.

lol the odds of Democrats taking the senate in 2018 was always extremely low. It’s cute watching the right try to move the goalposts though.

They’ll lose the house then tweet “#winning.” Just watch

I predict the GOP keeps Senate and House. Probably gain more than they expected.

I'm not sure about state governments... except SC. I know McMasters will win as will the rest of the GOP incumbents.

If we lose the house and keep the senate it's a push in my book.

You can call it a push in your book, but that’s not a push. That’s a loss for republicans. It being an expected loss doesn’t make it a push. It’s still a loss

By what measure has our standing around the world fallen? What is your proof? And where is your proof that Trump hates people of color. Show me something or stop parroting idiot liberal talking points.

LOL at someone calling the loss of the House a 'push' . . maybe, that book needs a little more Crayola . . .

And in the Senate when the Dims lose seats what will it be?

As I posted earlier, the geography for the Senate is an uphill battle, it's likely not gonna happen. Winning the House is a victory . . we didn't lose the Senate, but, I'm hoping to win the House.

Have a nice day.

And the geography for the House is any different? Both are up for grabs. And Trump will STILL be our president.

You have a nice day as well

You can't lose one, hold the other and consider it a 'push' . . you have lost something you had once possessed. It's not that hard to figure out . . you have less than what you started out with.

If Jesus were on earth today would he be at a Trump rally or walking with the caravan?

Good question. He would present himself in the middle east as the jewish messiah once again. The jews would reject him since they look for a militant messiah not a spiritual one and the muslims would seek to assasinate him for blasphemy. The christians would claim hes the anti christ since he would not embrace a far right evangelical agenda, would scoff at the claim that bible is his literal inerrant word and would advocate loving everyone including gays. Some would undoubtedly embrace him but be branded nut jobs and a cult. A few prob will be nuts and do something stupid that enables various govts to brand jesus a terrorist. He would be forced to go into hiding in the middle east, prob gaza, but would be rooted out by a coalition of israeli and us troops going door to door and leveling every house.

They are both up for grabs, I'll agree . .

However, if you own both and lose one or the other, you now have less than what you had before.

Call it a push iffin' you want . . I'll be happy with that push.

As Ol' Roy would say, we stole your brownies . .

lol, there might be more truth in that than we are willing to admit

What did he do for gay people? He didn't fight for the right for them to get married, that was SCOTUS.

I would also like to ask what he did to bring us out of the recession.

Its a book/movie idea i’ve had for many years. I think it would be great esp if it werent a sappy “christian movie” with a get saved message so to speak like they all are. Maybe with an ending that leaves you wondering if indeed he were jesus or not. An no kirk cameron in it.

I want to see Kevin Smith's idea for a movie called 'Helena Handbag' where humans team up with Satan to stop a giant rapturing Jesus.

What about the atheist? How do they react in your movie?

So then is the expected loss for the Democrats in the Senate a loss too, if it comes to fruition? Would you not then call a win and a loss to be a push?

Lol. This is truly comical. I'm glad @Terror Beard prompted this discussion, because his notion that Democrats would try to manufacture a "victory" in any way they could was pretty spot on, judging by your comments here.

Just because the Democrats have been getting their asses kicked in recent elections BIGLY, doesn't mean that if they're in a slightly less shitty, but still shitty, situation next week that they've done any winning at all. They've just done less losing.

As of right now, the Republicans hold the Presidency, The House, The Senate, and, per the recent whiners, appear to hold a conservative advantage in the SCOTUS. That's 4 out of 4. If at this point next week, they lose the House but maintain the rest, that's still 3 out of 4.

This is like if you get into a fight with someone that gets to punch you in the face 4 times and you can't hit him back. Next week he only gets to punch you in the face 3 times, and you can punch him back once. Something tells me you won't be feeling like you won much even after the second week.

Do you seriously not see the difference between failing to take the senate, and losing the house?

Not taking something that you didn’t control isn’t even close to the same thing as losing something you previously did control.

The high voter turnout has me feeling very good. Let me explain why, when Dems vote . . we will win. We've been energized for almost 2 years now, women are highly decisively against 45, men are basically a 50-50 divide.

Tomorrow is National FVCK Trump Day . . grab 'em by the ballot.

Some folks think that by losing ground is a win for them . . LMFAO. There's some really dumbshits floating around the world these days.
You had $10 today, tomorrow you have $5 . . . "it's a push"
