OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Some folks think that by losing ground is a win for them . . LMFAO. There's some really dumbshits floating around the world these days.
You had $10 today, tomorrow you have $5 . . . "it's a push"

I’d bet that 10 bucks that if I turn on Fox News that will be the exact talking points they are spinning up.

Rather be an asshole than a pussy like the last POTUS

A pussy? Come on man. How is he a pussy? How is trump not one? He’s a trust fund brat that grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. If they got in a fight, Obama would beat him to death with his bare hands.

Some of you Dems have some really low expectations. You're going to do historically bad this election, but you might sneak in enough seats to gain the House, and that's supposed to be a win?

Historically bad = win...LOL!

Do you seriously not see the difference between failing to take the senate, and losing the house?

By that logic, then it's impossible for the Republicans to win in this election. They already have everything, so either they push or they lose.

Not taking something that you didn’t control isn’t even close to the same thing as losing something you previously did control.

I think they are very close. The opportunity to control the Senate and the opportunity to control the House are both up for grabs in this election. Who controlled them previously should be fairly irrelevant, in terms of "winning", provided enough seats were available to swing the power.

It will certainly be a positive for the Democrats if they win the House. It'll also be a negative if they fail to win the Senate. I don't think it's far fetched to say those roughly cancel each other out.

Yes they can only push or lose, because they have nothing to gain. They already control both, you can’t do better than that.

Democrats would have needed major upsets in deep red states to take the senate. Saying there are enough seats up for grabs completely ignores the issue of WHICH seats are up for grabs.

Democrats taking the house will not be “cancelled out” by republicans not losing the senate. Democrats are better off, and republicans are worse off. This entire line of thinking is absurd.

Lol. Cute. Can't actually refute anything I said, so instead you turn to "some folks" and then change the comment from saying the Dems taking the House is a win for the Republicans, rather than a "push" if paired with a Senate loss.

That dog don't hunt with me.

You had $10 today, tomorrow you have $5 . . . "it's a push"

The better analogy would be. I have $10 today, and you have $0. Tomorrow, I put $5 up for grabs, and you get $2.50 off me. So then I have $7.50 to your $2.50. Sure you're in a better spot then you were today, but that's not gonna help you much if what you want costs $5.01. I can still buy it, and you can't.

Great post, UNCBoy10 . . you simply cannot change the thoughts of these tRump sheep . . it's what they'll spin as a win for their racist, lying ass leader.

Should the democrats win the house, and with the subpoena power that the right wingers begged and pleaded for, then they will strongly regret giving that power away to folks like Representative Adam Schiff, and nullifying anything that Devin Nunes may have helped and protected 45.

Ticky tock.

Maybe we're at odds over our definitions of a "win". Because I agree that if they gain control the House, the Democrats will certainly be better off, and the Republicans worse off.

However, without also gaining control of the Senate, will their control of the House really translate into a material win? What will be different for them then? I mean realistic things... not whatever far fetched fantasies Billy can think up about the downfall of Trump while he's staring at that broken clock.

I truly don't need to refute anything you have poasted, I have posted my opinion and I feel confident that tomorrow will justify my thoughts.

You are making the same mistake a lot of people make. Not all people who disapprove of Trump are Dem's. I have been a member of the GOP for well over 40 years. The people running the GOP now are not true conservatives in any sense of the word.. We're just trying to get our party back from the kind of people who support a person like Trump. And to be honest, I don;t know if that is possible. If not, we will do something, but we wont support Donald Trump or any other piece of trash like him.

Good, I hate mainstream Republicans too.

Tomorrow should gauge the temperature of the average citizen. Not the 2 extreme sides as shown in this thread. I for the life of me could not stand to live in America if it always hinged on failure of a potus. The talking points of both sides is silly and petty. In my book, no one wins either way. Its the dems fault the trump is in. It's the pubs fault that Obama had a shot. It took 911 for bush to have favor for a second term. We the average American people simply have to look at what's best in our lives. Financially, I am much better off now that before. Insurance wise, I'm still screwed. Militarily, I feel safer. Economically is hard to tell for me right now. The trade war being waged is a gamble. But we all will see how that translates. Go vote!!!?

I’ll bet that if I stepped into a meeting of losers, they would be saying the same thing you and @BillyL are saying.

Losers are folks that need an alternate identity, and desire to solicit the help of others, in a planned & combined effort, to eliminate the few that got under your skin back in July.

Real conservatives believe in the separation of church and state. Real conservatives don't believe in the government controlling women's health issues. Real conservatives believe in a balanced budget, where you cut spending BEFORE you cut taxes. Real conservatives know that this country was founded by immigrants and strives to be the shining light on the hill for all people. Trump is not a conservatives in any sense of the word.

First of all, there’s nothing far fetched about thinking trump could face serious consequences as a result of the mueller investigation. That investigation has produced like 20 indictments and is circling around the trump family like a school of sharks. The biggest thing sheltering trump is the political process of impeachment. It doesn’t matter how convincing the evidence against him is, if republicans won’t vote to impeach or convict in the senate. So it’s comletely circular to say “he hasn’t been impeached, so he’s innocent and this is a witch hunt.”

It’s funny that trump supporters care so much about breaking the law when it comes to immigration, but not when it comes to tax evasion.

Now to your point about winning. Changing the house obviously changes the makeup of congress and allows democrats to check trump and block his policies. Of course it is a material win.

So, who is a real conservative to you?

I agree with a person needing to be informed but people need to vote period.
That's just not true. People who are uninformed shouldn't vote. It's disrespectful to people who fought and died to give them that right. One of the reasons I'm an advocate of taking names and party affiliations off of the ballot is because it will cut down on uninformed voters.

Everybody knew that the GOP had a fringe group n the party who were racist, God, guns, Anti Gay, etc but they have taken over. These people do not represent the GOP IMO
The GOP opened the tent flaps to the racists and the Bible Thumpers 40 years ago.

Problem is who is the one to determine who should vote and who should not?

And pelosi and shumer are? You are full of shit.

That's why you change the voting process to take names and party affiliations off the ballot. Just vote on the issues. If you do that no one has to make that decision. Advocating for people to vote just because they can is irresponsible.

Maybe I'm a nerd but I love election day. I will have the TV at my office on all day to the news channels to get last minute intel then tonight for when the polls close, even for midterms.

I will also uselessly cast my ballot in NYC because Gillibrand is a lock for senate and NY's 10th hasn't gone red since 1920. One can dream though.

Normally by election day, I have studied up on all of the candidate's positions and their history and I'm ready to go vote. For only the second time in my life, I will not be voting. I decided a few weeks ago that I wasn't going to. Every year I take my wife and kids to a fall festival. It's a family event where they have a parade and some carnival rides and games. It's basically a small fair. When I went this year, at least a third of the parade was field with politicians and they were camped out throughout the festival area. Part of the reason I take the family is to get away from all of that crap and just have a good time. Now I can't even go to a family event without having politics shoved in my face.

My protest, which will be absolutely meaningless in the vote count, is to not vote. Of course the majority of my votes usually go to a third party candidate, so my vote has never carried any weight.

I hate when people say "our founding fathers fought for your right to vote". That's wrong, the founding fathers fought for your right to have a vote. Whether or not you choose to use that vote is entirely on you.

I left my ballot blank for President in 2016. I was in the same spot, couldn't stand either of them and was nauseated by the campaigning. Protest on brother.

I left mine blank as well. Well, technically it wasn't blank. I couldn't pass up the chance to be a smart ass, so I wrote in Homer Simpson. He would have been a far better president than both of them.
