OOTB's Political Thread . ..

We pay a price for everyone we elect. Some are worth the price, some not.
yet you fail to say what that price is with Trump. Are you deflecting? You asked this..."What is Trump doing for you that is worth the price the country is paying by him being in office..."

To answer that, I'd like to know specifically what price the country is paying by Trump being in office. Again, can you spell it out?

Sorry, I don’t play that game especially with people like you. The fact that you still support this shit show tells me all I need to know about you. Your opinion means nothing.

in other words, you have no answer to your own game. It might be a shit show on the surface, but you were talking about an actual price we are paying. Yet you can't even say what that price is. Completely typical of people like you. You're just another hollow hater who has sheepishly lined up with a side without being able to give substantial reasons for doing so, as has been discussed here. I was sincerely giving you a chance to be something better than that, and you have failed to step up. I'm disappointed but not at all surprised.

So while I have recently expressed why I support Trump's presidency, I will continue to hear people whine about Trump's superficial faults while hearing their unfounded claims about him being a racist, an actual white supremacist, anti-immigration, etc. What I want to hear is why I might rather vote for Joe Biden than him. You obviously have no answer to that or much of anything.

Would probably have the unintended consequence of having a lot more presidential assassinations though.

Yup.

And if people think the reasoning for Trump being impeached was flimsy, just wait til you have a VP who shares a party with the majority in Congress. You’d have Presidents being impeached for looking the wrong way at Putin.

but what I just stated is fact, not opinion, and the proof is in your own words and lack of answer. I offer substance and give you the chance to do the same; instead you show out as a whiny nothing. MY opinion means nothing? LOL.

Except for the fact he's right. You toss out your usual bullshit then run when you can't handle the response. That's classic Lyles.
I'm curious...exactly what price are we paying because of Trump? And, regardless of your response, that bitch Hillary would have cost 1 billion times more.
Prove me wrong.

I wonder how long it would’ve taken Chelsea and Hillary to start shilling beans from the White House.

Our institutions have paid the price. Our international reputation has paid the price. There has been a complete breakdown of our ability to have civil discourse, and trump has played a huge role in that by constantly attacking the media for criticizing him, and telling his supporters that the people who don’t like him are actually an enemy of the US.

But it doesn’t matter how explicit or long the list of offenses is. The trump crowd doesn’t give a shit. So what’s the point of even asking? It’s a cheap debate tactic where you demand that trump critics do all of the work to explain everything he’s done wrong, because dismissing all of it is way easier than actually laying out an argument.

How about you prove to us that it isn’t unethical for the president to use the office to enrich himself and his family? Or you can prove to us that it isn’t a problem for the president to side with Putin over our own intelliigence agencies. Or you can prove to us that rolling back environmental protections and claiming that climate change is a Chinese hoax isn’t a problem. Or better yet, please prove to us that Trump constantly dismissing the danger of this virus and refusing to wear a mask in public for months, all while simultaneously shilling hydroxychloroquine after it was proven to be ineffective didn’t cost lives?

The vast majority of climate change deniers are trump supporters. The vast majority of people who refuse to wear masks in public are trump supporters. I could go on. The biggest price we’ve paid during this administration is the division and dumbing down of the American people.

You shouldn’t need to mention Obama or the Clintons to defend trump. If ‘he’s better than Hillary would’ve been’ is your best argument, then you have a weak case.

the long list of offenses? WHAT IS THE PRICE, is the question. Just because you choose to be offended by something doesn't mean the country is paying a price of some sort. Instead of whining about how unethical it is for a President to use his office to enrich himself, why don't you lay out how he has done so and how that has hurt the country? And if the president decides to side with Putin over our intelligence agencies, why would you just assume that there's not a problem with the latter? People died because a president with no medical or science background shills some treatment? Speaking of dumbing down the American people, thank God we got them out of the gene pool. And speaking again of dumbing down the American people, how dumb are you to point out that you believe that dumb people are who support trump, and then turn around and blame Trump for making them dumb. And if the majority of those who refuse to wear masks are trump supporters, the majority of those who went hysterical and unnecessarily ruined our economy are Trump haters.

But the biggest joke in your joke of a response is the breakdown of the ability to have civil discourse. How can anyone blame that on Trump with a straight face when there has been an uninterrupted onslaught of incivility toward Trump since BEFORE he even took over the office? Any normal person would have had a breakdown by now. But luckily we have a president who can still thumb his nose at the masses of shrieking liberals who would rather see Trump trip and fall than for our country to succeed.

The one point I agree with you on is regarding climate change and environmental concerns. But it's really just the usual choice, vote for someone who regrettably disdains the environment but has a realistic grip on business and societal matters and the need for America to stay strong, or vote for quasi-commies who talk a great environmental game but only give it little more than a nod and a wink in practice, while steering the country toward socialism and a mediocre rank among countries.

I disagree. I think the "price" of Trump as CinC is minuscule compared to the "price" of another Liberal selling the country out to China, opening the borders to the screaming hordes, funding the world's attempts to clean up the environment, or giving Iran's terror machine monies we had seized to stop them.
Trump is a bargain in my book.

Honestly, just reading this is sad, sad because the guy actually believes that. He mentions a president that has enriched himself by being president, no better example of that than Bill Clinton. he mentions our international reputation lowered, well with a congress looking to impeach a president for sneezing in the wrong room, we don't really look like the worlds super power. When you have a press so intent to doing any and everything they can to get the current president out of office then yes, the rest of the world is going to look at us like we have gone insane.

Racial tensions in this country, odd isn't it, how all the sudden this explodes, goes nuclear over George Floyd, but only after not being able to derail Trump via Russia-gate, Meular investi-gate, Supreme court appointee-gate, Co-Vid-gate? The whole freakin world is watching this, you know China and Russia are laughing at how well their investment in steering social media in this country is going.

Now we have an entire country turned upside down, many now seem to hate what made this country great, those same seem now to embrace the socialist culture and doctrine. In a time where we should all be DISCUSSING, what is happening is you are being brow beaten to accept the terms as dictated by the radical left, you can only talk about that if you sign on to the accepted party line, if you happen to hold a different opinion then you are at very least publicly shamed? Trump didn't do that, those so desperate to get him out of office have no matter if it destroys this country or not.

And hey, don't look at the man behind the curtain, you parents are sending your kids to college because you know their chances of living a productive life and earning a good living are vastly increased by their getting that college education. But while you are doing what you think is best for your kids and paying hundreds of thousands to do so, your kids are being radicalized and turned against you. Your kids are being taught that YOU are the problem, that YOU do not deserve what you worked your whole life to garner? YOUR kids now believe that that you are the problem and everything that you knew and loved coming up was wrong and deserves to be destroyed?

As for climate change, some scientists strong believe it is due to the over population of we humans and how we treat the planet while others believe it is a natural cycles that plays out over many years. Those that want to declare climate change as fact simply pick the scientist they want to listen to while those that disagree pick theirs. To say that science totally agrees is not true, no matter how many times many seem they need to say it is, some scientists agree and some don't. You can believe what ever you want, others will believe what ever they want but no one seems willing to rationally discuss it. Seems like all folks want do do is toss insults and see if they can publicly shame someone that does not lock step agree with their thoughts?

You can hate Trump all you want but as president he did lower unemployment to a level not seen in most folks life times (oh, that is after Obama told us all it was impossible to ever get where Trump took it oh and never forget the words "you didn't build that"), he did over see a smoking HOT economy until Covid struck, a situation that any president would struggle with but especially a president that the vast majority of the media are desperate to get out of office and hammer negative headlines out about him every single day! But if you already have your mind made up that you hate the man then there is nothing anyone could ever say that could even as much as have you consider the good he has done.. That is a shame...

excellent work, and appreciated by those of us who can read. I would have to discuss the climate change situation with you, but everything else is spot on, IMO. I particularly like that you pointed out that ANY leader would suffer criticism in an environment like the current one, even if the media was covering for him/her. I also like your mention of Bill Clinton, who garnered the world-wide respect that Trump could only dream of, by inserting cigars in a young girls twat in the Oval Office. That's how you impress world leaders. I was so proud to be an American.

Of course though, you are just a dupe. We've been duped by Trump who cleverly pre-duped us into voting him into position to give us the real duping. The post-presidential dupe, may it come in over four years, I anticipate will be a duping to beat all dupings.

THIS is some CLASSIC Trump! Of all the interviews I've ever seen, this is Trump's "Sgt. Pepper's."

"... beautiful World Wars..."

"I've been right... probably more than anybody else."

Goya is based in the city I live in currently and people are NOT happy. I had to drive by their buildings yesterday and the entrance looked like Fort Knox. I'm guessing they had some unhappy Trump haters show up earlier in the day.

While I do agree with you... this is EXACTLY what Trump was advertised as being! He is a professional celebrity. He's doing what professional celebrities do- improve their brand. He's resuming corona briefings. Why? They got really good ratings before!

America got exactly what it ordered with DJT!

Apparently it hasn't hurt their sales though. I'd be ok with protesters if the money is still flowing.

sad, but true
I was watching "Last Week with John Oliver" and he was commenting on how Trump is just doing whatever basically amuses him, or benefits him, as he sees it. Then he showed a clip from a recent Rush Limbaugh show (I cued-it-up in the clip):

And, it would be one thing if he were still just the eccentric personality he was 5 years ago. NOW, his amusement can cost American lives and livelihoods.

all you can do is ...

Aren't we talking about the Prez who ushered in the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years? Isn't he the one who bucked against overreacting to the virus and instead pointed out that we have to keep the economy strong? Isn't that all about livelihoods?

Speaking of cueing up, maybe don't take your cues from John Oliver. Maybe stop dwelling on the superficial just because John Oliver is making his living appealing to knuckleheads, and just be about our country.

Some quality fecal stirring for sure.

“You can hate Trump all you want but as president he did lower unemployment to a level not seen in most folks life time”

well unemployment rate was just as low dec 2000. Guess we have a lot of people dying before they reach 20

Please tell us about “covid-gate” and how it’s being used to “derail”’trump. Please please please

the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of scientists in the relevant fields agree on climate change. You can pull on your tin foil hat and stomp your foot and shake your fist at al gore and deny that all you want but it’s still a fact. Yea some don’t. Some scientists believe the earth is flat and we never landed on the moon as well.

While I do agree with you... this is EXACTLY what Trump was advertised as being! He is a professional celebrity. He's doing what professional celebrities do- improve their brand. He's resuming corona briefings. Why? They got really good ratings before!

America got exactly what it ordered with DJT!
Exactly. I want to hate it, but then I see how pissed off it gets the people who hate him, and it makes me like it.

I can see this to a degree but do you not see how he is hurting the country?

You realize some people have thought every single President is hurting the country since the beginning of the office? Trump just has a bigger audience of people complaining since the advent of social media.

Imagine if there was social media when Nixon tapes came out. Or when the market crashed in 29. Or when the League of Nations didn't pass. Or when Kansas/Nebraska were burning. Etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

You'd have the other side of the President complaining just as much as they are now when all of those things went down.

Yeah social media has been a game changer for society and I'm not a huge fan of it. I was hoping it would somehow stay out of politics, but that requires politicians to act like adults. That's too high of a bar for them.

all you can do is ...

Just be about our country... you're like a sage.
