OOTB's Political Thread . ..

He made two hundred million off apprentice and tens of millions more selling his brand. He took huge losses off other businesses that he wrote off over several years to erase taxes. Nothing illegal. Tbh it may look bad at first glance and does hurt his business man image but I think if it’s true there’s really nothing wrong and he’s better off just owning it. If it’s not true then prove it and make the times eat shit.

As tight as this race is, he should try to disprove the Times. But his base just needs to hear "fake news".

More importantly, Ivanka - "at least $95,464 in payments to Ivanka's favorite hair and makeup artist had been written off as expenses."

But trump paid 70k for his hair? They're clearly different people OR that final 25,464 is worth gold based on her looks vs his. Trump to Hair-person: You're Fired!

Your anger is misplaced. You should be angry at congress for giving us a ridiculous tax system instead of a fair/flat tax system.
oh yeah. And huge diff tween fair and flat tax, but i'm a big proponent of ditching the current tax system.

Or, for having ever passed the 16th Amendment over 100 years ago. Be pissed at Woodrow Wilson, too, for that matter.

Completely agree.

This is true. And his opposition just needs to hear "tax avoidance" to assume tax evasion, or to jump to any number of other conclusions without caring to learn the reasons for or legality of a low tax number. That's politics, I guess.

And the Taft/Roosevelt feud that let the Dems basically dominate Congress in the 1912 elections.
Thank you! The Bull Moose Party basically sealed the fate of all of us! Wilson claimed he regretted it, after he signed it. Too little, too late, asshole. I guess some regret is better than none!

@blazers is a poster child for this phenomenon. He is sure Gen Flynn lied yet he cannot tell you a thing about the lie that was told. He would be the easiest guy in the world to sell something to- it used to be @prlyles but he lost his ability to sign POs in 2016. Its a sad but cautionary tale.

@UNC71-00 is the poaster-child for self-bating without ever making a point.
How am I sure Flynn lied - because of the little thing at the bottom of his guilty plea called a signature, you'll find it next to the date field.

How am I sure Flynn screwed himself rather than a hoax screwing him which you tried to assert - same as above.

Not entirely. Most people acknowledge that it's easy to pay low taxes and that our tax system is f'd up. But since Trump runs his world the way a mob-boss or mafia-head runs their world, it is just obvious to suspect something illegal or improper. Maybe that is unfair but he's kinda done it to himself (unless you believe it's all Bannon's fault). I'm in this camp - he probably has great tax attorney's - but as i've already asked somewhere above: is Ivanka's consultant money legal? I can't help but wonder considering all the other shady clouds and clowns around Trump.

You really are the biggest idiot I have come across ITT and that's saying something, given participation by @prlyles

Flynn will be fully exonerated with all charges dropped. And that will be the least of your worries- wait until Durham and his team of 4 US Attorneys finish up their work. You will be begging me to accept an apology from you at that point, unless you KYS first.

Tick tock, as my friend @BillyL used to say.

It's official. You are Flynn's nephew. Or gay lover.

The people who are saying you can't blame donny for abusing a broken tax system are the same people that also say that the rich already pay more than their fair share and oppose tax reform.

More importantly though, I expect Sam to throw for 400+ and 4 TD's this weekend.

I have already reduced you to homophobic slurs? That didn’t take long.

I used to joke that liberalism is a mental disorder. After reading your work for a few days, I will never again consider that this to be a comment made in jest.

Ya think? That would be awesome!

speaking of work, I’m docking your pay by 1 hour for poasting while on the clock.

hope that idiotic comment you made was worth $7.50.
Damn you’re posting in 2 different threads using different logins, don’t you get confused?

Question for the tax/legal gurus on the board - Ivanka Trump, while working as an employee of the Trump Organization, received “consulting fees” for Trump Org. These fees reduce taxes, because companies are able to write them off as a business expense, lowering the amount of final profit subject to tax.

"Trump’s private records show that his company once paid $747,622 in fees to an unnamed consultant for hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver, British Columbia. Ivanka Trump’s public disclosure forms — which she filed when joining the White House staff in 2017 — show that she had received an identical amount through a consulting company she co-owned."

Is this legal or common?
both. Why should it be otherwise? Generally speaking, if you have an expense, it is deductible. I can't believe how little people understand about even the simplest aspects of business.

That a consultant is a relative doesn't matter. Why should it? That person or entity, whoever they are, is paid by the first entity and must then pay taxes on whatever is left after his or her expenses are accounted for. Why should it matter that one entity avoids tax on $750,000 only to have a second entity have to pay taxes on that same $750,000? The money is taxed either way, that is if there is money left after expenses to be taxed.

Oh wait that's right, we're talking about Trump. Something has to be askew somewhere, right?

and I could argue that our truly ridiculous tax system is to a great extent a byproduct of the lefties endeavor to rob from the wealthy to support the less wealthy; but it would fall on stupidly deaf ears. They'll say 'but all the tax dodges are for the wealthier', and it will do no good to try to explain to the whiners that those 'dodges' are put in place to try to offset the robbery.

It's like I can be given a knife to hold you up with on a dark street, but when someone gives you a gun to defend yourself with, I piss and moan that you have been given an unfair advantage.

I have tried to explain to others that your tax break is my burden and vice versa, but people become incredibly stupid and short-sighted when you start to talk about removing their advantages. Once you give somebody something, you play hell trying to take it back. So instead, things just get more and more crazy-quilted as the one side continues to try to take what the other side has and the other side tries to keep it.

We'll just have to hope that SOME DAY the wealthy class in this country will finally catch a break.

Well, if everyone pays the same thing there should be no issue. Can't get much more fair than that. Of course that would require the democrats to get on board with the lower class paying and the republicans giving up tax loopholes. Then of course you have to convince special interest groups (I'm looking at you realtors) to give up all the deductions.

Where is the slur? Did I say something insensitive to you?

You wound up on a nerve or do you really believe that 'gay lover's is a slur? So are you related or just an 'alternative lover'

doubling down on disparaging homosexuals?

thanks for showing us all who you really are.

Below a certain income level, people paying less in taxes just means less need for government assistance programs.

A flat tax would be a great way to wipe the slate clean and then we can make small tweaks where necessary.

I liked the concept of the fair tax. Embed it in all purchased items. Get refunded for necessity items and tax the luxuries. That way if lower or upper class wants the latest smart device, they share an equal tax burden. As for the refunds on necessity items, the illegals would have a reason to become a citizen. I know thats a broad stroke explaination, but i love the concept. Neal Bortz was pushing this heavily in the early 2000's
