OOTB's Political Thread . ..

I mean, most of us who are pro-US don't want to be associated with a person who wants to promote Mexico or China above the US, either.
Who is it that wants to promote Mexico and China over the USA? I must have missed some of the posts. Was it someone here, or someone in the public limelight?

The Elephant Graph just called.

The elephant graph doesn’t prove that people are promoting other countries over the US. It’s just data. It has to be analyzed, and there is a wide range of analyses.

You completely ignored my point. Just because you disagree with someone’s economics doesn’t mean they are promoting other countries. They just have a different opinion about what is best for the US

Do you even understand what the Elephant Graph represents?

Yes. Do you understand that a dataset can be interpreted in a wide variety of ways? It shows a result, not a causality.

You’re attributing intentions to people that simply don’t make sense. You could say the consequence of their decisions is undesirable. But that still doesn’t mean their intent was to sell out America.

But when you disagree with someone's economics they're wrong.....we get it.

Anyone who was opposed to my prior arguments. If you have an issue with a specific argument, let me know and we will discuss the said argument.
I thought maybe there was some public figure that was doing this, and the lines were drawn. Never mind.

Obviously I think they’re wrong. I can only argue my position. That doesn’t mean I’m going to claim that you or nole is trying to sell out America because we disagree.

Why are you still insisting on taking cheap shots at me? I’ve been trying to extend the olive branch. We disagree on many issues but I haven’t been going after you personally.

When you actually get some business experience instead of what you learn in class you might be more relevant.
Example....I worked in a lab for 9 years, I entered the education system and these teachers have absolutely no clue as to how actual science and research go on in the real world. Until you get some actual business experience your thoughts are irrelevant as well

If you can, do. If you can't, teach.

I'm not going at you personally. I see you just like every other young person I know. You think your education is the be all end all. Real life experience is much more relevant. Hell, as far as sports you and I would probably get along really well, even on some social issues. My issue with you is you believe you are the financial wizard of all time and your real world experience is zero.

I agree with this to a large extent. I got out of the lab because I hated being inside all the time and I had a desire to coach. Those were more important to me than the money I was making. I would certainly take the advice of a successful business person over someone that had only taught.

I have enough business experience to pay for myself to go to school. So take the condescending bullshit and shove it up your ass. I don’t give two shits what you consider to be relevant. I’ve tried to have respectful discussions with you but you refuse to let that happen.

I don’t work in finance. I work as an economic consultant while going to school full time. So I definitley don’t think I’m a financial wizard. Finance isn’t even my field.

Condescending? You might be the expert on that one. I told you my opinion just like you do and you responded like you always do. I have not cussed you nor acted the way you always do when you disagree. I simply gave you my opinion and once again you aren't adult enough to discuss it.

Your opinion was essentially an insult that I don’t know what I’m talking about and have no “real world experience.”

This is the first time I’ve responded like this because I’m fed up with this kind of crap. I extended the olive branch to you multiple times but you have no interest in accepting it. Don’t try to claim some kind of high ground when you insult me and like every other post on this board that insults me. You’ve made your view of me clear, no point in me continuing to try to change your mind.

The discussion was going to perfectly fine until a certain moronic troll showed up and started insulting people. If you want to complain about people not being adults then maybe you should talk to your buddy 71.

It’s never a good idea to encourage a stalker by giving them attention.

There is no doubt in my mind that you think you are being stalked. You weak millennials are going to have a rough go of it should you ever be forced to grow up.

Yes, there's always a "wide range of analyses" for anything that pokes holes in your argument. The graph is pretty cut and dry.

For anyone who hasn't seen the Elephant Chart/Graph, here's a quick breakdown.

iu

It basically shows how western wages, except for the top global 5%, have stagnated over the years, while wages in developing countries have increased by up to 80%. It's essentially what globalism has done to countries like the US. It also explains why the mainstream politicians are fighting so hard for open immigration. To most firms, employees are nothing but another variable in the supply chain equation.

Automation and industrialization of poor countries are better explanations than globalization IMO. This is a highly debated topic in economics. Trivializing the range of opinion to attack someone else’s argument is dishonest.

Help me out here. How can someone make a chart that has two different x axis meanings? Is the x axis years 88-08 or income percentile? It cant be both.

It's income percentile. 88-08 is just the range they used for the study. So basically, looking at the graph, in that 20-year span, what is roughly the 46th percentile group had their real income growth increased by 80%. Those around the roughly 77 percentile group had their real wages decreased by 5%.
