B- why can’t the illegals just walk across the spots without walls?
Because they'll either be rivers of extremely enforced...or both.

The same people who hate the government doing anything want the government to build the modern day equivalent of the Great Wall.Everything will triple, not just materials.
I bet this thing would cost 2 trillion.
But regardless, how much do illegals cost us a year? Net it out.
Wall is a horrible investment for the American people. Much like many other Federal investments.
Because they'll either be rivers of extremely enforced...or both.
Ok- where do you get your cost for illegals?
If we can’t build a wall because of topographical limitations, how can we effectively monitor those areas with man power?Because they'll either be rivers of extremely enforced...or both.

The same people who don’t trust the government to do this right want Medicare for all.

Ok.
Please answer A
From your own linkThis is the lowest I could find, $135B a year. I'll welcome any numbers that anyone else could throw out.

We don’t live in ChinaThere are no topographical issues in northern China?
From your own link
“Unfortunately, the U.S. government has no central database containing information on the citizenship status of everyone lawfully present in the United States. The overall problem of estimating the illegal alien population is further complicated by the fact that the majority of available sources on immigration status rely on self-reported data. Given that illegal aliens have a motive to lie about their immigration status, in order to avoid discovery, the accuracy of these statistics is dubious, at best. All of the foregoing issues make it very difficult to assess the current illegal alien population of the United States.”

We don’t live in China
Yeah, which means that the real cost is probably higher.
There was a whole lot I didn’t agree with in that article but let’s use that number.
No way this thing breaks even in 50 years.
No it doesn’t. Your article already adjusted for this.

The same people who don’t trust the government to do this right want Medicare for all.

If both our numbers are correct, we break even in 14.81 years. In order for it to take twenty years the cost would have to be >$40B a year.
It’s scary if you stop to think about it.
I find it comforting. People decry social media and what not. I love it. Social media and the 24 hour news cycle shows me what I’m up against. It’s scary if you stop to think about it.
My number is not correct- there is no way it only costs $ 2 Trill. That number was extremely conservative.
Again I don’t care. They will just print more money.
How much do you think they overestimated?
Don’t know and don’t care. I’m good with their estimate.
Here you go again shifting the conversation.Hey, I'm more than willing to get rid of all social safety nets and preemptive wars, but I'm guessing that isn't going to ever happen, so we need to figure something out.
So, what is a "solid number"? $3T?
Here you go again shifting the conversation.
You’ve got two people from different political backgrounds in the same indtelling you the Wall won’t work. Instead of acknowledging that, you pivot
That doesn’t account for man power on the wall. Repairs. Infasfrcture to access way points. Loss of productivity. So, 15 years to recoup the costs. I can live with that.
So, 15 years to recoup the costs. I can live with that.
Oh hell no. I need to open up excel to get to the real number but I’m expecting over $6T.
How many miles?
@UNC71-00 and I work in commercial construction. I have worked with the DEA, DOJ, SS, and DOD. He runs a concrete company that handles a shit ton of work. We understand comstruction costs and inefficiencies from the federal government. Is this an argument from authority? I'm trying to work this out with the best-known knowledge. Why did you go from that to "you just don't know anything?"
That doesn’t account for man power on the wall. Repairs. Infasfrcture to access way points. Loss of productivity.
Then go hide in your cry closet. Nobody cares if you don't have anything to add.

Why do you seek to dismiss us rather than learn from us?
I just love how I've been expected to show all my numbers in this thread, while others have just required me to take their arguments at face value. Arguments that have drastically shifted since the beginning of the conversation.
Logistical costs alone would be absurd. How do you accomplish all of this in the middle of the desert?
I'm not trying to dismiss anyone. You just have a vested interest and your numbers have wildly fluctuated since the start of this conversation.
This is false. You can object to any of my numbers (and I will be happy to back them up.)
I don’t have a vested interest. Trust me when I say that I am the all time OOTB champion supporter of Trump.
But the wall is stupid from a financial POV.
That's what I was asking you two pages ago, before you tripled your estimate.
