OOTB's Political Thread . ..

I have no interest at this point. I'm sure you would come back with a $10T cost at this point. The funny thing is that I would rather go a different route than the wall. I would have accepted a consistent argument here, but that isn't going to happen.

What in the actual fuk are you talking about?

Logistical costs alone would be absurd. How do you accomplish all of this in the middle of the desert?
Let’s build a road and waystation throughout the mountains along the border. Let’s supply it. Let’s dispatdh units when 12 women are scaling the wall 88 miles away, 1k feet above sea level.

The same people who think this would be easy thought rooting out the taliban was gonna be a walk in the park.

Both are impossible.

I suppose it is theoretically possible to build the wall, but it’s practically impossible.

The only way I’d get behind a wall is if was:

- solar powered
- a conduit of sorts for electricity
- some kind of pipeline for oil or nuclear waste

This dude knows less than nothing about economics.

It is funny watching him self congratulate though. At first I thought he was joking. But he actually thinks he is about ten times smarter than he actually is
I tried to tell you guys when he first started posting here that we had a real winner

Hey, I'm more than willing to get rid of all social safety nets and preemptive wars, but I'm guessing that isn't going to ever happen, so we need to figure something out.
Got a question for you, how is it possible to build a wall of this scope without help from the very same people you are building the wall to keep out?
Let that sink in.....

I would say that it's saving the rest of us money, but we all know if they're not wasting it in once place they'll just waste it somewhere else.

It saves us nothing. In fact, it ends up costing more. The federal workers get back pay for work they didn’t do. It slows down productivity

How many federal workers actually do any meaningful work ever? Working for the feds is a jobs program for many (and this includes the military as well) where they collect a check but don’t actually do anything productive.

You’d be surprised. Some of the smartest people I’ve ever met work for the Fed Gov. I’d say the amount of useless dipshits is commensurate to the amount of useless dipshits in the private sector. There’s a lot of dipshita everywhere.

White collar Fed govt employees are in a union. Need I say more?

Both Iraq and Saudi Arabia are currently building walls. Why would anyone ever build a wall if they didn't work? How many politicians and celebrities do you think don't live in gated communities?

Hillary Clinton's property...

@prlyles...don't fall for it

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think anything that I've said about walls has been very controversial. Whether or not you believe they should be built, the fact is they're built for a reason. Obviously, I've been pretty open about the thinking that there are better ways to handle the immigration insanity, but that doesn't mean that walls won't work.

There are walls that work and walls that don't work. Any wall can be made to work to a point if you sink enough money into it.

The border wall is a stupid idea and we have shown it to be so in this thread. Find another topic to harp on.

Actually, you didn't, but that's okay. Also, you know it's more like a chain-link fence with razor wire and not a cement wall, right?

So basically a far cry from what he promised and he base swore he was gonna have México pay for?

Fencing won’t be effective.

I'm not sure his inability to get this done reflects poorly on him. He isn't a dictator. He needs the funding from the House. As for it not being effective, nothing he could do would change your mind about that. Walls work. They work in other parts of the world. It's ridiculous to think that they couldn't work in the US.

He didn’t have a republican house and senate for 2 years? He didn’t walk away from $25B last year?

It’s ridiculous you think the wall will work.

Until I see a wall that doesn't work, I'll continue to believe that they do in fact work.

As for the Republicans in the House and Senate, I hate most of them as much as I hate their Dem counterparts. They're nothing but establishment DBs and I'm glad that a lot of them lost in the House. They needed to go.
