you are aware I hope that his mission isn't to heap scorn on Trump in order to make us think we made a mistake. His mission is to heap scorn on Trump in order to try to save face for his humiliatingly solid stance in being so strongly behind the complete fiasco of Biden/Harris that most people finally wised up about and rejected, to his great embarrassment.
You notice, I'm sure, that he doesn't spend much time trying to tell us why it's a shame that Harris didn't win. He doesn't because he can't because it isn't. I wish he would try though. That would be some entertainment. Realistically, he's left only with trashing Trump as a way of saying 'told you so'. Too bad for him we are at this point too well accustomed to the one-sidedness that the right is considered with by the left with its media allies. We have become accustomed to understanding that the actual news is in what is NOT reported and talked about by the lefties. We understand that what is reported is largely fake.
But you have to give him the persistence. He just keeps banging away and the futility of it just doesn't bother him or even occur to him. He actually feels he's making face-saving points with what he spews. I hope he doesn't disappear again, everything he does is reassurance that I voted correctly..
I can't think of a subject more serious than starving children around the world. Let's talk about that if you're up to it.

And as Americans, we can ALL take comfort in knowing that our tax dollars are being used for USAID, or at least they were until Elon Musk came onto the scene. USAID's mission statement:

On Jan. 26 of this year, Donald Trump signed an Executive Order that that included the following:
President Trump stated clearly that the United States is no longer going to blindly dole out money with no return for the American people.
No return for the American people?! The purpose and services provided by USAID are among the upper echelon of international public relations. Stamping out hunger and spreading democracy isn't a bad mix, and anyone who calls this mission "blindly doling out money with no return" has no business being in the White House.

It was attacked because both the Trump Administration and FOX News came out of the Oval Office selling it as a major trade deal. Nothing could be further from the truth. First of all, as I've already said in an earlier post, this wasn't even a trade deal at all but only dialogue about maybe coming up with an actual deal in the future. Here are some statistics to consider:
- The U.K. accounts for 3% of American trade (which still leaves 97% of American trade up in the air).
- With the U.S. now imposing a tariff of 10%, it makes it harder for American companies to do business with their trading partners.
- Six months ago, the United Kingdom charged a 1% incoming tariff to countries around the world, including the U.S. So the best we can hope for in a new trade deal is to knock this amount down from 1% to 0%. Those are the stakes we're talking about here. It sounds absolutely ludicrous, doesn't it?
- This "very conclusive" and "landmark" deal wasn't even signed yesterday. Trump admitted that details are still being worked out and will likely change.
- Plans between the two governments include "meeting again IN THE COMING MONTHS to hammer out specific language." And if that wasn't bad enough, once a new deal is finally worked out if it actually is, it will still need to be RATIFIED BY CONGRESS.
Trump was called out by a British journalist, who questioned whether or not this non-deal was being overhyped. Predictably enough, Trump's response was a jumble of nonsense that didn't make much sense, especially when he says "This is a maxed out deal that we're going to make bigger." How the hell do you make something that is maxed out, meaning as big as it can get, even bigger?

I didn't think you would be up to serious discussion even though you lied and said you were.
This really isn't about private charitable donations but rather how the government spends our tax dollars, which are appropriated by Congress and MUST be used for their stated purposes. So, along with Elon Musk being a cold-hearted billionaire bastard, this administration's elimination of USAID without explicit Congressional approval is illegal and unconstitutional.

It's true, no country is required to assist other nations but most do it anyway. Certainly the U.S. is among them. But as I wrote less than a half-hour ago up above, this money to address poverty and world hunger has been appropriated by Congress since the 1960s and this administration's elimination of it without explicit Congressional approval is illegal and unconstitutional.

We're all happy for you that life (and I don't discount the hard work you've undoubtedly done and the wise personal decisions you made) has allowed you to be insulated from the rest of the country and the impact of inflation and crime. But, even pontificating from your non-urban perch, you've got to correlate an impact between political policies of cities run by a singular ideology for decades upon decades and their associated problems. There has to be some connection. The problem is that it will eventually impact you and your loved ones in some respect. This is not the time to go into hibernation.

I'm not sure exactly what the raw milk thing would entail. I thought raw milk itself could be dangerous...and I've had raw milk before and the taste was not pleasant, although it could maybe be adjusted to.

don't know who you're asking but if me, I don't have nearly enough information to adequately address it. I do believe we need more prisons and prison capacity, but for all I know it might be more reasonable to build some from scratch than to restore Alcatraz to a working condition, and it might also be too costly to run and maintain it, given its location.
If any impartial study has been done on the matter I might be interested in a summary, but it doesn't interest me enough to take a deep dive into something you're just trying to make a subject of contention. And that being said, if it is seriously being considered, I have no reason or desire to question it. I want issues addressed more than I want to create issues where none exist. YMMV. Check that...your mileage definitely varies.
And again if me, this is the first chance you've presented to me or anyone else that I know of, something that appears serious; but as I pointed out, it doubtfully is. I imagine you enjoy laughing at the yahoos on this board as much as I do. Of course, along with the laughter we have to put up with some pretty big doses of stupidity which isn't always fun. Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good. I don't know about you but I don't suffer fools gladly, and there are a lot of absolute fools here.
I think what we have are a bunch of the have-nots of society. They obviously aren't well educated, they probably aren't well off financially, and they likely aren't very happy in life which explains why this message board seems to be such a critical part of their existence. It's their world of escape from their sad reality.
Like you, I'm doing all right these days and this talk about inflation and high gas prices pretty much goes in one ear and out the other. First of all, I realize all things pass, eventually. Second, I think the have-nots on this board -- you know, the ones who like to bitch and moan all the time -- are getting what they deserve. Sort of like payback for the previous four years when their man was in office.
I only wish that some of them, even just one of them, had enough brains and wit to invoke some real comedy in their posts amid all of that bitterness. They all try to be funny. If I enjoyed pratfall, then I guess I would find it humorous when they fall flat on their faces.
I haven't really taken a deep dive into it because it's not available and illegal to sell here in MD where I live. However, I actually know several people who take the time to drive there and buy their milk up in PA where it is legal to purchase it straight from the cow. What they tell me is there is absolutely nothing wrong with raw milk and, in fact, it is very good and much better for you in several respects. One parent I know feeds it to her son and it's allowed him to come off of some medications he previously required.
The problem is that when pasteurization takes places, it kills everything - the bad and the good - so that many of the really good benefits of drinking milk are lost. It's not a selective process. The key, apparently, is the dairy itself. If the farmer has clean conditions and harvests/produces in proper conditions, the milk is completely safe and contains all kinds of goodness. If the cows are always standing around in their own shit and otherwise dirty conditions, the milk is a big risk.
So, I don't think it's that different from many things we consume.
