OOTB's Political Thread . ..

well then tell me genius, where do you see the majority of effort to demonize it coming from?
LOL... what difference does THAT make?

Effort to demonize? That's politic's life-blood! You can waste your time believing one does it "more than the other." That seems like an obsession for you and others. "The Left" is satan incarnate. And, if "the right" does show their capabilities, the go-to pivot is "well, THEY do it, too!"

You libs excited about helping everyone buy a new house?
Are "libs" subhuman to you? I realize it's necessary to differentiate them, whoever the hell they really are. I just wondered if the reference allows you to look down on them to that extent.

But, if it does, it's okay with you. If they shut-down who you hate, you're cool with it.

See, that's another thing we differ on. If some lefty-woke think tank created some kind of "proposal" that allowed a Democrat president to IMPOSE their ideology, based on their "feelings", I'd oppose that, too. They'd be shutting-down any dissent, if they could. There would be no recourse for any opposition. That's just not healthy for a self-governing society. If they could put "racists" in prison, or anyone who praises religion is given a distinct "mark"for surveillance? I would vehemently oppose radical fascist shit like that.

Complaining about P2025 is like complaining about expanding the SCOTUS. Or removing the electoral college. To put those ideas into practice is akin to moving mountains. Other than a smarmy remark here or there, you haven’t seen me complain about the Dems’ idea of expanding the court or getting rid of the EC. Because I know the chances of any of those coming to fruition is extremely remote. I’ll focus on things can have and will happen.

Wouldn't bother you. It wouldn't affect you directly. And, besides, that was a reflection of Traditional American Values, too.

Go take a look at the betting odds. Trust the money.
I have not bet on Trump. Although I obviously wish I did when he was an underdog back when the current administration was still successfully hiding Biden's cognitive disfunction. If I had, I could either lock in some nice arbitrage profit or ride a +EV ticket to the wire.

I think the current odds of Trump -215 (implied win probability of ~70%) is probably about right, so I won't be betting it now either as there's no edge. I generally refrain from betting on such huge favorites in general. I doubt those odds will slide back towards Harris, but if they do, I'd consider jumping on it then.

Former President Trump is no longer favored to beat Vice President Harris in the 2024 race for the White House, according to major betting markets tracked by FOX Business.

As of Monday morning, Harris surpassed Trump as the odds-on favorite to win the presidency on BetUS with 55% implied probability, marking the first time since the platform opened the market that the Democratic nominee took the lead.

Traders on prediction site PolyMarket also favored Harris on Monday, giving her a 51% chance of winning the race, compared to Trump's 46%. On PredictIt, where Harris has been leading Trump for weeks, bettors give Harris a 59% chance of winning, while Trump's odds fell to 43%.

"Not only is Harris now leading in the betting odds, but she is also leading in terms of the total number of wagers placed and total dollar volume bet so far, which is an impressive feat considering she only became the official nominee a week ago," BetUS director of public relations, Tim Williams, told FOX Business.

He added, "I personally wouldn’t have expected so much money to have been bet on Kamala so quickly, but here we are."

🤣

He's the useful idiot. Did Trump even know what Roe v Wade and Dobbs were about? Not likely... but he got federalist society and heritage folks into Scotus.
No, he got people willing to read the Constitution onto scotus. And even that is your peeps fault for not replace Ruth, but I actually think she had integrity and wouldn't bow down to the politics of forcing her out. Besides, the world's smartest woman was surely supposed to win. No amount of temper tantrums changes Trump's appointments being on solid legal footing. You want a Constitutional right to crush a baby's skull up until birth? Go through the process of passing a Constitutional Amendment. It shouldn't be hard, you've got all those legions of people in your favor who think that is perfectly fine. Or that's what you keep telling us. You've still got the WH until January, just pass legislation.

A few could require scotus... guess which side they're picking.
Just stop with this agenda. How many times do you have to be kicked around when opinions come out to demonstrate this a load of shit? Are you really that butthurt over abortion? @tarheel0910 has pounded you on this and you still don't get it.

This is a perfect description, for both sides, but there's one candidate who has certainly been flip flopping those positions recently compared to the last four years as well as all other previous positions held.

I'm not sure how to take you quoting a poast of mine correctly predicting what would happen a few weeks before it did, other than as a compliment. So.... Thanks?

It's nice to have someone else victory lap my poasts for me. It's uncouth for me to pat myself on the back when I nail it like that.

OK genius, let me recap for you.

Project 2025 is what was being discussed in our back-and-forth.. We were NOT discussing who does anything more than the other. If we had been, my comments would have been aligned accordingly. Instead, they were directed at the actual subject at hand, which I remind you again, was Project 2025.

Project 2025 is unquestionably considered by most people with normal thought processes to be a product of right-wing attitudes, having been put together by the Heritage whatever-it-is, a decidedly right-leaning organization. The general conversation surrounding our particular back-and-forth has largely been the libtards here and beyond making P2025 out to be a scheme by which Trump can remove checks and balances in order to centralize power around him so that he can take over the world. You can call that whatever you want to or not call it anything at all, but to call it demonizing the project is not the insane proposition you make it out to be, and it isn't insane to not bring up who does what how much to whoever when that is not what was being discussed.

It's libtards taking a blueprint for achieving normal, decent goals and twisting that into the reincarnation of Hitler. AND YOU PARTICIPATED in it, presenting a left-oriented video on it....yet here your loonytoon self is, going off-course and trying to give me grief for simply recognizing which end is up, something you always seem to have trouble with.

Say hello to Alice for me while you're down there in Wonderland.

You can get a can of beer or you can get a sixpack of beer. WTF does that have to do with inflation?
you can not possibly be this dumb. Or actually I guess you can be because here you are being that dumb. Maybe you just can't read. Who knows what your mental deficiency entails.

Using your example, you can buy four beers for 10 bucks before a surge in inflation; and then with that surge in inflation, for the same 10 bucks you now only get three beers. Maybe you should go back to my post and have someone read it to you and then explain it.

Corporate taxes were cut under Trump. Both present and future deficits were ignored.

Profiteering was unfettered under both Trump and Biden.

We had massive spending for the pandemic as well as the Ukraine and Gaza wars - with no revenue adjustments to cover those costs.

Inflation bit us on the ass.

Imagine that!

It's like he gets up every morning and ask himself how can I run off more supporters today? Yesterday he gets up and decides to insult all veterans and active duty plus any other decent American.
All he said was that getting the Medal of Freedom is better than getting the Medal of Honor because you don't have to be shot at or killed to get it. He was just doing his best to schmooze Adelson's widow.

and there he goes, retreating into a typical inane comment instead of staying on the path he created. I have to chuckle at you having a grasp on the economy. A good example of two things you're good at exist here....making directionless comments with no attempt to substantiate or explain, and going into a cave somewhere when you're called on it.

Why don't you recall your post below on the three rates of return, and relate all or any of them to the post you responded to, and to the prospect of price controls, which is the subject you interjected this into....

There are three rates of return you look at for any retail business. There’s a profit percentage that’s a return on the store's sales (1.5% being the avg), there’s a return on the asset (3%) being the avg. and the return on equity (15%) being the avg.

If you knew shit about much of anything, you might be able to expand into a fresh produce stand at your convenience store.

I'm interested in what @uncboy10 thinks of Kamala's economic plan. I believe he has the most macro economics schooling on this board.

I think would it would be a lot smarter to let inflation stabilize long enough for the Fed to feel confident continuing to lower interest rates. We’re finally making progress there, now is not the time to start f*cking around. The down payment assistance program might be helpful for some people but lots of states already have programs like that in place for first time buyers. FHA loans already lower the down payment hurdle enough that the primary issue for most people is going to be their debt to income ratio. Lowering interest rates would help them more than the 30k since they’d actually be able to qualify for loans in the first place.

We do need more new construction of single family homes, and the development business is lucrative enough to assume that the supply will grow to match an increase in demand. But I think pumping trillions of dollars into an economy that is finally starting to stabilize is a risky game. If we get another 2-3 years of inflation at the levels we’ve seen since 2021, shit is really is going to get ugly.

The tax credit expansion will drive inflation back up to some extent. There is no way to avoid that.

Price controls on groceries is an incredibly stupid idea.

Wages need to continue rising faster than prices. That should be the primary consideration for any macroeconomic plan by either party.

TL;DR version: let’s make sure we’re out of the woods before we spend our way right back into high inflation rates and **** the economy up even more.

all that needs to be said. Very nice.

does this start to smell dangerously familiar to you? I fear loan-qualifying being tinkered with again, given the bent of the socialist candidate.

Who needs to wager when life is this sweet? It appears I have everything I want. The question is, do you have the gumption to put money down on your boy with a bookie?
well it certainly seems he has the gumption that you lack. LOL at you dodging a bet you claim confidence in winning because....life is so sweet? Doesn't it embarrass you to post something that glaringly lame? Or is it a greater embarrassment you fear?

The above was sarcastic...FYI

Sometimes, it's best to just keep your mouth shut, or, at least, THINK about WTF you're saying to millions of people BEFORE you say it. He has no filter. Trump is like the Kramer of US Presidents. He's funny in a stupid way, by accident, but I would never want someone like that in charge of anything except, maybe, a wrestling show. I watched them when I was 10. That's about the level of intellect the man has had his entire life. We can all relate to it, some of us like the idea of going back to it, but most of us have moved beyond that.
