what, only 6.1 million? this says almost a billion

"Assistance from FEMA, the Army Corps of Engineers and HUD after Hurricane Matthew totaled more than $914 million, the report said. The HUD disaster grant can be used for housing, economic development, infrastructure, and a few other needs."

Am I reading this wrong? Makes you wonder if there isn't something missing from the '99% less' story. Oh wait, never mind. I just noticed that a notorious TDS victim posted it.

Anyway, some of the people in dire need of assistance might still be waiting for it, not because it wasn't made available but because of NC administrative ineptitude in managing the recovery....according to my article from the always reliable Raleigh News and Disturber..
From the News & Observer article you linked:
Republicans in the legislature have faulted Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, for a slow response in distributing disaster relief money.

Of course they blamed Roy Cooper. After all, that's what Republicans in the General Assembly love doing to this day, but shouldn't they have been blaming Pat McCrory since he was the Governor at the time when critical assistance was needed most? McCrory didn't get much done during his lame-duck session, however, and looking out for the citizens of this state during this catastrophe is a classic example.

What's more, Trump visited Puerto Rico -- remember him comforting residents there by tossing them paper towels? -- but this is what happened when Gov. Cooper invited Trump to visit the state and see for himself the remnants of Hurricane Matthew's widespread destruction:
This weekend, Trump is headed for another awkward hurricane moment, this time in North Carolina. On Saturday, as North Carolina marks the anniversary of Hurricane Matthew, the president will make his first visit to the state since his inauguration in January. But he’s not coming in to see how the recovery is going in Eastern North Carolina. He’s coming to Greensboro for a fundraiser at the home of Louis DeJoy, a Republican mega donor. DeJoy’s wife, Dr. Aldona Wos, led the state Department of Health and Human Services under former Gov. Pat McCrory.

Amid all of Donald Trump's lies about federal relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, here's a reminder of another storm that ravaged part of our state eight years ago:

99 percent of Hurricane Matthew aid requested by NC denied by Trump administration

I trust the Dems are hammering this in their ads?

It's just a 2 hour walk to get back. What the hell is the mayor of Coachella supposed to do?

Don't be such a gullible rube. This whole Tweet is a lie. No one was stranded. Isn't it curious that no one seems pissed. It doesn't seem chaotic at all. Man, TDS makes the most reasonable people lose their minds. Not that I would consider you one of the most reasonable people. I was just making a point. I just wanted to clear that up. Thanks.

well then, I guess you should also mention that obama was president when the hurricane hit, if you're going for that angle..

Trump hadn't even been elected yet. And if you are going to say well, it was too soon for him (obama) to do anything substantial, and it was in Trump's time that work should have been done to get the funding....my article says there was funding and by the time that you speak of, Roy Cooper was governor. That's a fact, Jack, and not something republicans dreamed up. Roy Cooper was blamed for the slow distribution of aid because he was in fact at fault for that. Read the article, it spells it out very clearly. The critical assistance you speak of was critical for a long time under his watch, and like I said, it might STILL be critical for some. You should check into that.

And I personally remember the ridiculousness of the failure to get the funds quickly distributed, I remember the problem being reported for YEARS. People with no home having to wait years for available funding to be handed out. I don't have to depend on any archived journalism, I witnessed the story first hand myself. It Isn't some republicans imagination, it was in fact a travesty.

But I wasn't even trying to make an issue of that, I was just pointing out that NC got almost a billion dollars in aid, not the 6 million that your article talks about. TBH, I'm sure there was some kind of SNAFU about the funding because there often is, but as hinted at, there's probably more to the story if you bother to look. But that wouldn't help your smear none, would it?

So now we go to Puerto Rico to take this off the trail? LOL. Trump didn't come to NC a year after the hurricane hit just to see how things were going? If he had done that, he would have seen that they weren't going so well, wouldn't he, through no fault of his own. PLUS....when the hurricane came through, obama was more concerned with the people of Haiti and the devastation there. HAITI, not our own country. That dem/Haiti connection...sound familiar? Lots of potential dems in Haiti I guess.

Trump’s Coachella Rally Went About as Well as You’d Expect

Donald Trump supporters were left stranded in the desert for hours.

Thousands of Donald Trump’s supporters reportedly found themselves stranded Saturday night after the former president’s rally in Coachella, California.

Attendees were bussed roughly five miles from parking to the venue at Calhoun Ranch, where Trump delivered a rambling 80-minute speech in scorching desert heat, during which several attendees required emergency medical attention.

Who's panicking? Who's in denial?

Heat Exhaustion, Violent Speech, Reports of Missing Shuttles Mar Trump Rally in Coachella

A Saturday evening campaign rally in Coachella by former president Donald Trump was punctuated by extreme heat, violent ideation, and reports of rallygoers stranded miles from their cars after the event ended.

The heat baked attendees at around 100F for hours on end as they waited for Trump to begin speaking, with accounts of multiple instances of heat exhaustion or heat stroke reported.

LMAO. You know I want linkage, I ranted about someone not providing it just recently. But a link to refute a tweet by someone in a group called 'republicans against trump', and posted by that lib larvae Joeydickdougie or whatever his name is? Gimme a break. It practically refutes itself.

lol, I think you should focus on the 'violent ideation' angle mentioned in the article. Trump reportedly said something about some hecklers mom knocking the shit out of her because her parents are Trump supporters. OMG, our democracy totters on the brink....

I guess you really can't coach stupid, especially in NC.

"Two federal officials confirmed the authenticity of the email, though it was unclear whether the quoted threat was seen as credible."

wonder who sent that e-mail and the actual story behind it. Oh, I guess that part wasn't reported, just the shit-stirring part was. GTFO with this kind of horse crap.

Meanwhile, you might not be able to coach stupid, but a stupid former coach is running as Kamala Harris' VP. So I guess you can't coach stupid, but you can coach stupidly.

I’ve got friends and family in the midst of this disaster who have witnessed first hand verbal abuse and threats to feds trying to help. There were rampant accusations of land grabs for lithium mines and bodies being bulldozed. This incident was reported by national guardsmen who encountered some good old boys riding around armed in their trucks claiming they were hunting fema. Maybe they were joking or using hyperbole, I don’t know. But Having spent most of my life there and knowing the mind set of the mtn people it doesn’t surprise me at all. Among the true locals there is a simmering mistrust for anything govt related. It’s hard to portray the cultural differences between these people living isolated in these remote areas and what you see in normal areas. You’d just have to see it for yourself to appreciate it.

I have no trouble believing this at all, and in fact the mindset of the people living in that area is the first thing I thought of. I just hate that an existing attitude of mistrust of the government and outsiders is being insinuated to have derived from a few words that only recently came out of Trump's mouth. Jesus does every God damn thing have to be politicized?

And maybe that wasn't the poster's intent. But having seen the posters intent before, I think that's a pretty good guess.

Thanks for your post.

I know you have an appreciation for history so if you haven’t heard of this it will blow your mind. Part of the reason for the level of distrust of the govt goes back to moonshining of course but not many people know the story of the blue ridge parkway eminent domain land grab. Tens of thousands of people were forcibly displaced and entire
Towns left deserted. Some are still there, my fil took me on a horseback ride to one. It’s hard to get info on it but if you have access to obscure historical info you could prob find it.

So these people have no power, no cell service but are reacting to Trump's words? I'm sure with the devastation that occurred in those area's they had nothing better to do than watch a rally...

Got it.

That's what I expected, but was willing to be proven wrong.

Sending troops to Israel... that will definitely hurt his VP's campaign.
Interesting decision, for sure.

I'm guessing it's a message to Iran: "We now have US personnel in Israel. Kill any at your deadly peril."

Also interesting if they arrive just before Israel launches the expected massive attack on Iran: "If you strike back and hit our guys, you risk annihilation."

Also interesting that word of this deployment comes on top of one of the leaders of the Uncommitted group urging members to vote for Kamala.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see a major escalation in the war in the middle east that will include US Soldiers, on the ground, getting killed, and the implications and repercussions of THAT.

it should be what you expect, when you yourself supply zero evidence that it was NOT a lie.

Hilarious that you act like you have a winning hand here when you have exactly the same hand that I have, which is the ability to view a tweet/video. All it is is a video of a crowd of people milling around with a videomaker with suspect intent (repubs against trump, lol) narrating and trying to make it seem like a disaster of some kind is taking place. Now that I think of it, I do have the winning hand based on that suspect source of the tweet.

Your deal.

any chance you could be talked into seeing why Trump avoided conflict while your boy practically invites it? I have no idea what he's trying to prove with the handful of troops he sent, other than to make sitting ducks out of them. But one thing I can assure you of, is that this move takes us up a couple of notches on the Israel-hater 'get even' list.

I see it as a demented old buzzard probably letting his ego act vicariously through our military. 'I'll show 'em, I'll send a hundred guys over there and they'll know that I MEAN BUSINESS. They'll scatter like rats'.

What a moron.

You linked an article that didn’t even have boots on the ground and only cited a report from The Independent, which we all understand to be the gold standard in unbiased reporting.

The heat exhaustion is Trump’s fault!

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the desert.

These are problems big draws have. Your party wouldn’t know anything about it.

Your party wouldn’t know anything about it.
First of all, I'm not a democrat but I get where you're going with it. As for not knowing anything about rally goers dropping like flies in the desert heat, that's because Kamala Harris has enough sense to avoid those conditions. Why the hell is Trump campaigning in California in the leadup to the election in the first place?
