Players taking a knee during The Song

No, I asked when Trump is going to do something and sending a message is action. Addressing the issue publicly is action. Allowing government agencies to proceed with their standard operating procedures is little more than entirely handing off the job to someone else.
I wish I could LOL. And maybe you didn't read the part about Trump issuing major disaster declarations.

Trump was going to tell someone to do something about Puerto Rico but all of his employees are protesting helping Puerto Rico. So I guess that's that since bosses can't tell their employees what to think. His hands are tied. What do you want him to do?

I read it but let's face it, all he really did was sign paperwork prepared by a government agency, an act that is standard procedure during a catastrophe. This occurs on local, state, and the national level all too frequently.

Most leaders, however, usually follow up normal protocol with actions that require at least a little bit of effort.

Imagine a devastating event that would do the same amount of destruction to Iowa or Kansas or Hawaii, all states with lower populations of U.S. citizens than Puerto Rico, and imagine the uproar over the President of the United States failing to publicly acknowledge it.

I guess Trump is one of the many clueless Americans who thinks Puerto Rico is a sovereign nation.

Nope, it's the 58th state isn't it?

Its a matter of principle not specific examples. I'm well aware of the semantics games you play, and have no interest in watching this devolve into a discussion about the flaws of that specific example instead of addressing the actual issue at hand.

If an employee's behavior doesn't effect his ability to do his job, and doesn't effect the bottom line of the company, then why should an employer care? And what right would they have to make demands with regards to that behavior?

If you don't believe these anthem protests are affecting the bottom line, then you're not paying attention.

I asked you whether or not an employer should have the authority to demand a behavior that DOES NOT affect the bottom line or his ability to function in a job.

Next time don't make it so easy.

What's funny about that meme is that the Americans look disgruntled while the North Koreans look like they're having a blast (even though the Americans clearly have it made in the shade by comparison). Obviously I get the point of the meme. But the meme creator should have used different pictures. Not a well done meme.
Is that funny? The Americans look solemn to me.

The North Koreans look indoctrinated to me. It's like Kim Jong Un himself is making a public appearance. Like the English do with monarchs. There is obviously some kind of joy in that form of conditioning, no doubt about it.

Nah they just look like people who know they will get executed if they don't look happy.

Holding a position of power over children to force them to comply with your demands is definitely something you should be proud of. What a bad ass patriot you are...
School is comprised of a certain amount of teaching obedience and conformity. That isn't anything new.

Nationalism is almost identical to religion. People love to be a part of a herd (some people). So, when your children, and their children, and their children, are born into the culture, it's a default expectation.

I CAN TYPE IN CAPS TOO.

I could make the argument as a business owner, that all behaviors of my employees affect my bottom line. It's subjective.

I'm not sure I believe that those people are under that kind of restraint. But, North Korea is not at all like North Vietnam was. Now, Vietnam is one country. North Korea is like a monarchy.

By the way, everyone should watch The Vietnam War, by Ken Burns on PBS.

Right. I think we should allow children to run amok and act like wild animals. Now that I think about it, that's not far from what public education has become.

People in NK live in a constant state of fear that they will get snitched on by even close family members. They have no idea who might be a government official or informant. It really is 1984 brought to life. I'm not sure how they could possibly be any more restrained than they are now.

I have no doubt that you associate these anthem protests with the behavior of wild animals.

I've never been there. It wouldn't surprise me. But, I've only got what I've been told to go on.

Well, you can go to that extreme. I wasn't implying that extreme.

I'm simply saying that you can teach children, guide them, and give them self-preservation skills without indoctrinating them to be blindly obedient.

You need to try and teach a kindergarten-3rd grade class with your views on this. Your kids would learn nothing. My wife teaches kindergarten-1st grade so I have perspective.

Would it make any difference if I found a black guy that told me it's never affected him? How about 10 black folks that said the same?
Start with 1 documented instance and get back to us.

The point was that we have maybe 1 or 2 black guys who ever poast here. One of them told you his personal story and you blew him off. Now you have the audacity to announce it's not an actual problem and it's grossly exaggerated. This is precisely why people are kneeling.

If you would have taken time to read this whole thread instead of just doing the liberal freak out thing that you do, you would have noticed that personally, I don't care if these folks sit, stand or dance during the anthem. I stated as much in my first poast in this thread. I don't agree with it and I don't believe the issue is anywhere near the issue that these protesters are making it out to be. I also believe that 90% of these guys don't even know what they're doing. And I believe most are just sheep following the herd in their grandstanding.

You should know by now that I have a lot of audacity.

Look, I'm sorry for that poaster - whoever it was. But him telling me his story doesn't make it a widespread epidemic. Like I said, I can find dozens I know personally that would say it's had little to no effect on their lives. I'm going to go off personal face-to-face conversations that I've had over the story of some dude I've never met telling me something on a message board.

I figured. It was a shot in the dark that you were really a gay black woman IRL (you never poasted in the Roast Me thread, after all). I bet your life has been a lot easier than you think. It's a matter of perspective.
I know there are people who have had it worse than me, but I'd be willing to bet it's not as easy as you might think it is. Like you said though, it's a matter of perspective.

So, I need to try to do it, but you've already seen into the future to know for sure that they "would learn nothing."

Congratulations on your perspective. Maybe neither of you are suited for teaching.

I read every single post in this thread. And yours were the worst, per usual.
