Deeply disappointed in our President today. He had the opportunity to condemn a fatal act of domestic terrorism that was almost certainly perpetrated by a white supremacist. Instead, he condemned violence "on both sides."

Kansas. New York. Portland. Maryland. Charlottesville. Obama was rightly criticized for his refusal to call radical Islamic terrorism by name. Trump didn't even acknowledge these events before today, much less call them what they were.

"Unite the right" turns out to literally be a white supremacist rally, and some guy murders at least one person with his car. At least they apparently caught the POS

The good news is that some democrats have already tried to make what happened today political, so maybe you will get your wish.

Is that a red MAGA hat?

I saw the video of the car in the crowd... that was hard to believe.

The mayor basically said the mood that led to this was Trump's fault and Schumer essentially threatened Trump by telling him that he better make a statement. There wasn't really a need for either one to bring up Trump.
I fail to see the problem here.

When Nazi protesters are marching in the streets and engaging in domestic terrorism, everyone -- EVERYONE -- should expect the President of the United States to issue a condemnation of what these pricks stand for. This is a political slam dunk on an 8-foot goal.

There is absolutely a need to call Trump out because he has repeatedly demonstrated that he will not acknowledge the issue. He actually gave us the "gotta hear both sides" argument after someone died today. An innocent person lost their life and dozens more were injured, and all the President had to offer was false equivalence. That's completely unacceptable.

This isn't a partisan issue. Period.

Those two are stupid too. Getting on twitter telling the president that he needs to do something hours after this happened is unnecessary. Let's concentrate on what actually happened, not what Trump is going to do today. Can they not at least wait until the body is cold? And I'm not sure why you think essentially blaming Trump for what happened today, like the mayor did, isn't pathetic and political.

Trump did later condemn the violence. But not as he should have. These people caused riots, murdered someone with a car, and do not represent what the United States is about.

He didn't call a spade a spade.

There is nothing to concentrate on other than 1) a white supremacist killed an innocent protester and 2) Trump refused to condemn the white supremacist.

You're welcome to continue arguing about this if you're determined to look like an imbecile.
You got on nuke when he stupidly said @BillyL and people like him were the reason that senator was shot at the baseball field. Why is it acceptable for a mayor to say that about Trump hours after this happened? I was assuming that you would not change your viewpoint just because it was Trump. Was it wrong to assume that?

The problem with this is everyone is freaking out because it was white supremacist. It's fine if BLM raises hell, burns buildings and everything thing else, all the while chanting "pigs in a blanket, fry em like bacon". The majority of this country gets along just fine every single day. It's these fringe idiots on both sides that cause 100% of the problems. Obama is proud because HE instigated this crap from day one and I agree that Trump should have been more verbal about who started this. However, Obama always blamed it on the Police so who knows.

I have neither heard nor commented on whatever the mayor had to say.

This should be condemned. Just as bad as Obama not calling out BLM or Islamic terrorism. BLM, Islamic terrorism, white supremacists should all be called out as wrong by the President. We've been in a tough spot as a country for the last 8.5 years having two separate presidents who have had agendas against calling out these various groups.

Obama didn't instigate anything. That's just dumb.

His exact quote, "I'm not going to make any bones about it. I place the blame for a lot of what you're seeing in America today right at the doorstep of the White House and the people around the President."

To be fair to the mayor, he came out later and thanked Trump for condemning the attack.

If you think that Obama did not light the fire for BLM then you're dumb. It's what he is. As far as today it is a very bad situation and should not happen in this country.
Well, if you follow that logic then what happened today would be Trump's fault.

The "fire was lit" for BLM almost 400 years ago. Blacks were treated like cattle and seen as property for the first 250 years. Then they were treated as second-class citizens for another 100 years. It's still a struggle for a great many of them by comparison. I don't condone acts of violence and aggression by any group in order to try and bring about change. But, with black people, they are more justified, in my opinion. I still don't think it helps their cause at all.

Comparing them to white supremacists is pretty foolish. Because of people like them, it creates a need for groups like BLM in the first place. Barack Obama didn't invent or author the civil rights movement.

I think it's foolish for anyone to point fingers right now. We can't go 10 seconds without politicizing something these days.

Can we please stop with the "Obama did this" or "Trump did that" rhetoric? I think the President should have mentioned white supremacy in his twitter feed, but he did not create this situation. Just like Obama is not accountable for the actions of black lives matter.

There are lots of reasons for the awful things happening right now, but to lay the blame solely at the feet of this President or that President, is intellectually irresponsible, and has no basis in reality.

Strum my opinion is any group that protest is silly. It changes nothing and creates days like today. I can tell you that if white supremacists are protesting in downtown Gville I'm not going downtown. Same with BLM. It honestly serves no purpose excepts getting the fringe on the opposite side all fired up. I don'y care what anyone says, all this rave crap is nothing but fringe. Most Americans live peacefully each and every day and color is not an issue.

I thought I read that Trump condemned this. Was he just slow to do so? What am I missing here?

I do agree he could have been more outspoken but in all honesty he is right. Do we forget who has been marching down the streets of many major cities the past several years? I just don't know what either side thinks it will accomplish. Fringe nuts on both sides. Jmo
