Recruitng class of 2016

Just watched Nate Craig-Meyers Hudl highlights for this past season....My God this kid is a Grown Man....Reminds me a lot of Sammie Watkins..Speed and maybe more power...If you have not watched it just check it out....If we sign nobody else but him I would be happy....
Read his closest relationship is with Auburn Asst. Dameyune Craig and it was reported he is down to them , Ole Miss and UNC although he denies there is any reduction to 3. Hopefully we can show him how much more he can shine in our offense vs. either Auburn or Ole Miss.

58 the thing is I hope he looks at our WR coach and also our QBs for the next few years....Kid could be a Beast at UNC....He is 1 of those guys we need to land to beat the FSU and CU of the ACC....

Per tos Campbell taking other visits. Hopefully he sticks with his commitment we need dl help

Admittedly, I don't follow recruiting but after the beatdown our D-line took the other day, can someone tell me how are we looking in regards to commits and talent level for the DL? I'll hang up and listen.... Thanks.

4 star DT Kyree Campbell---6'5 295lbs out of VA....
3 star DT Marlon Dunlap--6'4 290lbs out of NC played real well in the Shrine Bowl and played against tough comp in Highschool on a bad West Charlotte team...
4 star DE Tomon Fox---6'3 232lbs out of GA 11 ranked weak side DE in the Nation...Really gets after the QB...
3 star DE Nolan DeFranco 6'6 221 lbs out of Fla...more than likely will Redshrit...

Right now that will be it...Keep in mind we had a ton of freshman and Redshrit freshman and true Soph playing this year and lose 1 guy on the inside...Also overall on the 2 Deep roster we only had 2 JR and 1 Senior...As I said on the other thread it really hurt our depth at the start of last year when we lost both Webb and Underwood before the season even started....Hope this helps and if anybody else can add to this post go ahead....

Has set an official with them too
Bama just took a commit from a 3* WR with similar size this weekend , I just don't see them taking another 3* WR. 74% of Bama roster is 4/5. Keion Joyner to FSU and Diondre Overton to Clemson.

Thanks. That's a pretty good class at D-line. Could have used Lawrence to say the least or another D-lineman. We are thin. Need to bring in or average 4-5 every year the next 3-4 years, imo. Maybe 6 some years if quality players are available.

2017 4* WR J.T. Cauthen just committed. This gives us two of the top 10 in NC - nice start.

oh - and he's huge! More than 210 pounds, just 6'1 as a junior. He's going to be handful in this offense.

Looks like his game is perfect for the Heels!! Welcome to the Hill, JT!!

Basically, @TarHeelMark the short answer to your question is we're looking 'OK' but not good enough to get where we want to be. I've said it before on a few threads but it's been apparent all season -- then became glaringly obvious after Clemson and Baylor -- that D-Line is our biggest weakness by far. We are good to great at every single position grouping, except DL. We lack depth and we lack elite quality. This incoming class is a 'good' start, but not a 'great' start. Missing on Lawrence, Roseboro, Street, et al in the last couple years doesn't make things any easier.

Oh, and Tomon Fox (who I think will be a STUD pass-rusher) isn't a 100% lock to stick with us, come signing day. It sucks but we just aren't going to get to an elite level unless our DL recruiting improves dramatically. You can scheme and misdirect around weaknesses at certain position groups, but not defensive line. You either have it or you don't, and if you don't, other teams will brutalize you.

Allen Carter, DE out of Georgia locked in for official this weekend as well
Yes a bunch of commits also visiting and targets in addition to Cater that will visit Patrice Rene DB(Rutgers commit) Clyde Chriss WR (uncommitted) , Coney Durr DB (MN commit) and D.J. Ford (I know nothing about this kid). Christopher McWilliams (UF commit) and Amir Rasul (FSU commit) scheduled for 22nd visit.

Keith Simms also expected this weekend. We are now the leader , hoping for a comittment before he leaves.

Guys, it may not equate to actual commitments come NSD, but the coaching staff is closing this cycle with a bang. We're so, so close to "arriving" y'all. Big-time recruits are starting to regularly look at us, and I mean big-time recruits from all over the South, not just N.C. recruits.

If we can sustain success next year (with a much more difficult schedule), watch out.

Jaquan Yulee 4* LB from Va.who was high on us and then committed to Bama and then decommitted , is now wide open. He says he is "comfortable" with us (not sure what that means). Bama guys think he decommitted because they are still recruiting several LB's and also haven't contacted him recently. I wonder if Fed would take him and Keith Simms. I know he wants another CB and Clyde Chriss an uncommitted WR is also visiting. Not many spots left. Also read Brunson is being given a scholarship. Forgot about Cater also being pursued.

Good for Brunson!! And the rumor is academics are an issue with JY.

Ok, "don't know" and "don't care" are synonymous. Not sure why people know about it in Florida, to be honest with you. Unless they're seeking out information about it. I mean, dang, here in Atlanta, NO ONE knows and/or cares about it. You could go ask 10 die-hard SEC football fans here about it and maybe 1-2 would know what you're talking about, and neither would care.

Every college football fan "knows the score" -- so to speak -- when it comes to academics. A large percentage of these players wouldn't get admitted to the university they play for. That isn't a knock whatsoever -- they bring a unique talent and skill, which is why they're admitted. People who are raising cane about our issues are people who either 1). Hate Carolina already or 2) are naively hanging on to the belief that every college football and basketball athlete are students first, athletes second. No one in SEC country would care if athletes are their favorite school were taking easy courses. They would care if the athlete became ineligible and couldn't play because he had to take tougher courses!
NOT a Flame.
If i"m understanding what you're saying is, if the SEC thinks that way it makes it alright ?
Just trying to understand your statment

Korey Banks has received offers from SoCar , Tn and bama recently. Dominique Ross visiting VT.

Regarding DJ Ford, I wonder if this means Patrice Rene is def not signing. Cause i'm pretty sure they wanted Rene to be a safety. And Ford makes the 4th safety in the class.

Welcome DJ Ford to the Hill! A physical 6-3, 195 pound safety from Alabama. Our staff is still working hard. Commit number 25.
Does anybody know anything about Ford. No star rating per 247? CB Coney Durr was also offered.

I have a feeling Patrice Rene, and Allen Cater commit sooner rather than later!! Any word on Simms? Seemed to like his visit!

Patrice Rene is listed as a CB on at least one site.

I heard both Rene and Wolfolk were potential safeties. But Desmond Lawrence was characterized the same way with people not sure if his future was safety or corner.

Physical ability (speed, hips, timing) to be cover-corner are one thing. Physicality in being a run-stopping strong safety is another (strong, and tough enough). Somewhere in the middle of the above are the nickelback (closer to the line and run-game) & free safety (reading the play, covering large swaths of the field).

I could see how it would be a little tough to project where a highschool guy might wind up.

Regardless, this class badly needs a corner-cover since Lawrence graduates soon, MJ could be good enough to get NFL attention as a jr.

Ford is described by his coach as a big safety who can come up and stop the run. Rene describes himself as a guy who can play CB , S or the nickel. Warren is headed to Canada to meet with Rene's parents in Ottawa and our biggest competition seems to be Wisky. I hope Rene wants to get out of the cold. 247 says we are looking for 2 DB's and there is also an offer out to Coney Durr a CB currently committed to MN.

Keandre Jones and Dwayne Haskins 2 Maryland 4 star commits both flip to Ohio State.
