Seventh Woods Coach Speaks...

Oh no! Not another trusted source. I have no feeling either way about this one. I would love to have him and I think he would thrive in our system and with our coaches, but I think we are already on the upswing and this recruitment will not stop the momentum. I understand the lure of the hometown, especially after a tragedy.

I don't see him as a OAD, but I do think he could develop into a pro lead guard with time and the correct mindset.

Join the Family, Mr. Woods!

Alkins!!!..where you at????

This actually could be a part of Seventh's reservations. Rumor is that we've moved to the top of Rawle's list and Seventh good be afraid of both of them committing. It would be a shame to lose Seventh because of it and then not get Rawle in the spring.

Wow, that is great if we are indeed on top of Rawle's list!

If he is waiting until the spring to sign then UNC is not at the Top of any real list that matters. Not to be harsh but too much can happen between now and then...

Many believe the longer he waits, the better the chance for UNC. What if the NCAA comes down with a ruling by then, and the basketball program is cleared?

If he doesn't want the competition, does he really need to come to Carolina? That's part of being a top notch program.

I don't know where you got the Rawle rumor from, but the Heels are no where near the top of his list according to the must accurate UNC insider I know. Things could change, but the Heels are not the favorite for Rawle as it stands right now. The Heels are not in his top 3. NC State, Kentucky and Kansas lead for him.

Wish him well no matter where he goes, and the same applies for all recruits. I'm just looking forward to seeing the guys who are in uniform as of today.

Where are you hearing this? 247sports? Don't believe everything you see in a crystal ball.

He hasn't even visited UK or KU and hasn't set them up. I know he's a spring guy but he had every opportunity to take unofficials there over the past year. Clifton may talk him out of UNC, but he feels great about us right now.

I'm sure Clifton will get a hold of him this winter and change his mind but I know for 100% fact that he LOVES UNC right now.
UNC is not in the running for Rawle. That could change down the road, but as it stands right now UNC is on the outside looking in. Do you really think Rawle is going to jepardize his free tickets to all the UNC home games this season? He will milk it as long as he can.

This just simply is not true. What I'll say is that Rawle and Joe Arbitello still speak, very often. Rawle loves UNC, this is a fact.

I like the idea of Alkins in a UNC uniform. His recruit is half a year from being done. Nothing you hear now matters.

I'm not taking sides here because I have no idea what Alkins is thinking. But I'll say this, he has spoken more glowingly of UNC than even the guys that have committed already. So if he's not interested in us, he sure is frontin' like he is.

I also don't have the slightest bit of inside info as to what Rawle would be thinking. But judging by the guys' on here who are saying its not happening recent track record of correctly picking recruits, I like our chances, lol.

NOBODY knows squat on this one outside the family. TIGHT lipped family, it will get out only when THEY want it to.

Mike, I thought that was 7th, not Rawle. I know this is a thread about 7th, but the discussion just above all this is talking about Rawle.

Yes, I was responding about 7th. Rawle has a LOT of time before he picks, watch what he does and not what he says, pay close attention to OFFICIAL visits.

My main concern with adkins is not clifton or his maybe being a wuffie lean, my concern is of all the schools he could have attended he attends Word Of God, last I heard a school on the NCAA watch list for diploma mills. Be it grade issues or be it back room deal making, something just smells a little funny. Maybe WOG has upgraded things and I didn't know but the moment I learned he was attending WOG my reaction was ut oh, something ain't right about that.

WOG has indeed responded to it's history of scrutiny by the NCAA. They revamped everything about their Athletic dept. and made it more a part of the campus as a whole. I worry about the Clifton connection (though Roy seems to be correcting things here) more than the clearinghouse issues.

Az, Seventh and Rawle would really finish off this class. I'll hold out hope for all of them!

The Keita addition to USC can't help our cause but hopefully it doesn't make an impact on his decision.

Me and you both Dave!

Adkins = Skal (with twists)

There are a lot of things in Adkins background that will probably eliminate him from consideration. Not only academics, but other stuff. I have NO proof, just hearsay. He may qualify, but UNC does not need the negative publicity and something they may come up after he has played a few games.

Not arguing or even disagreeing because I don't have ANY inside info, BUT ol' Roy IS still recruiting him so I would say he must not believe that "hearsay".

What I'll say is that he is from a VERY rough neighborhood in Brooklyn and hasn't had the easiest life so far. He's struggled academically at points and his eligibility was in question because he played varsity as an 8th grader in Florida or something.

That said, everyone who has met him has raved about this kid. There is a difference between a bad kid and a good kid in a bad situation. Choosing WOG is questionable on our board because we have an interesting history with their coach and their checkered past but Clifton sold him the John Wall treatment.

As others have stated, Roy must not believe the hearsay if he's still all over him.

You want to talk about perception?...let's talk about perception. The perception of our program right now is that top tier talent doesn't want to come and play for us because we don't utilize freshman talent the same way other schools do. A commitment from Alkins and a good showing from him during his freshman year could drastically change that perception and could be what we need to get the ball rolling with some top talent in following classes.

Agree about the differentiating.
It is the WOG thing that is most concerning. Clifton is trouble.
